Why does Nursing have to be a passion?
Well that’s good because I’m not looking for others reinforcement. Thanks for the compliment. Hugs.

Why does Nursing have to be a passion?
Wait, hold on. I hope this isn’t directed at me. I didn’t realize that mentioning God would be so controversial. I believe in God and am religious, so this is what came to mind FOR ME. Some of the people here are going to have to take a deep breath and come to terms with the fact that lots of individuals have integral religious views and it’s not that hard to respect that. No one said that every nurse in the world is on a mission from God. Obviously I understand and respect that, and maybe it can go both ways?

What is pink collar work? Work by majority women?

Why does Nursing have to be a passion?
I am not a nurse, but interested in possibly becoming one. My brother is a surgeon and spoke to some of the nurses he works with for insight or any advice for me. One of them said it was “a calling”. I think that kind of comment is sort of unique to nursing. I have also heard teachers use the word “calling”. Also priests, mothers. Perhaps because it is a healing profession. It’s something God calls some people to do?

Postural Screening And Trans Gender Children
I don’t think a gender confused teen will be suicidal because they were asked to cover themselves for an exam. And yes, using certain language will be perceived by some as pushing gender issues because that’s exactly what it is. Don’t push an ideology that is harmful to vulnerable young people and is not based in scientific fact on other peoples children. I’m sympathetic with youngsters who have been manipulated by the “trans agenda”, but they can be talked to on an individual basis perhaps before the exam takes place. No one sees any problem with the fact that there are so many kids with these issues suddenly? It has clearly been pushed quite hard in the public schools particularly in the last five years. I know because I’m a mother and have seen this first hand.

RN vs BSN
I think a lot depends on your particular circumstances. I am in my mid-fourties and I have six children, all school age, youngest is in Kindergarten. I am currently taking pre-reqs and already have a previous Bachelors and Masters. I’ve toggled back and forth regarding ADN vs AcceleratedBSN but I’m strongly leaning towards the ABSN because I will be done faster and I thought the BSN could pay approximately 10% more, which is not a lot but it’s something. I also have a vague interest in NP down the road, so that’s something to consider. Do you plan on having more children?

Nurse tech before Accelerated BSN program?
I am looking for advice from those who are currently working as a nurse. I’m in my 40’s, children are older, and have decided to start my prerequisites now and apply to an accelerated BSN program (I actually already have a BA and MS in non-science subjects). I have applied for a few Nurse technician positions, with the intent to work part time while I do pre-reqs. Would you suggest this? I would like to get my foot in the door/get some exposure but not sure if this is the advisable route. Thanks!!
