  1. I'm a brand new nurse, I graduated in May, just passed my boards last week, and I've been working as a graduate nurse for a hospital in the emergency department. I've been on orientation for 4 weeks out of the 12. Prior to this, I haven't had any clinical experience outside of nursing clinicals. Now the issue is I'm constantly making mistakes and it's very frustrating. I understand mistakes are inevitable but it's not a good feeling when they are preventable. I thought at this point, I've been making reasonable progress but I can tell my preceptor is losing confidence in me. I always ask her for help and supervision if I'm not 100% confident and I will do anything to gain experience. I feel like I rely too much on my preceptor where she feels like I should be more independent now and take more initiative. But when I try to improve based on her criticisms, another issue arises from that. I feel like I'm getting support from my preceptor but not the right kind of support. Is it too early to beat myself up? Should I be worried about where I'm currently at or is this normal?
  2. Some programs say they can take up to 24 months if you’re taking them part time. If I were to do an RN to BSN program, I would rather do it part time so I can work more hours and not lose hours of experience for grad programs. So if I could just get it all over with at once, I’d rather do that above all else. This sounds like a lot and I might be a little too ambitious
  3. Definitely considering that but I’d rather have the BSN to further my options
  4. I was interested in that program. Interested in more information about it considering the workload and how it'll work with clinical and other responsibilities.
  5. I am in Michigan and accepted into an ADN program. There are many programs that allow you to complete a BSN after you get your ADN but are there any legit programs that let you take classes for your BSN while pursuing an ADN? I want to shave off a few years of schooling and go straight to grad school after I graduate. Has anyone done anything like this? Is it worth it or should I get my BSN after I complete the NCLEX?
  6. I would be hesitant on telling on yourself. HIPAA is a dirty word in medicine so be careful about how you end up approaching your supervisor. If you make another mistake after you already told your supervisor, they can deem you as a risk.
  7. Glad to hear, good luck on your studies
  8. Now that it is Summer, do you have an update? Hope everything worked out
  9. Maybe getting a tutor if you are struggling this much. It might be a bit of an investment but they can tailor to your learning style and explain better than the books you are using. I know this is really stressful but don’t doubt yourself. You made it this far so don’t give up. Good luck ?
  10. How did it end for her? Was she placed in a different hospital or was she dismissed?
  11. If your program is okay with you working while having your clinical rotation there, I do not see what the problem is unless there is a policy where you can’t work where you are having clinicals. If there is no problem, do not withdrawal.
  12. You don't sound mean at all, you're 100% correct. I should take this one step at a time and shouldn't rush into anything before I even started yet.
  13. I haven't started yet, I am entering my first semester this fall. I want to know is it worth it to start now or should I settle into the program first and give it maybe a semester or two to start studying. Thank you, I didn't know there wasn't a grade and here I am freaking out.
  14. I can't send you a pm because of the 15 messages rule, is it OK to email me directly?
