  1. I only used the welder and pay amount as an example... but from the rest of your response, I am speculating that you would take the pay cut to immerse yourself in the field of nursing?
  2. Hey y'all. For those out there who are transitioning from one career to nursing, how do you compensate for the new grad/nurse pay? For example, if you are making $35 as a welder and the new grad/nurse pay in your area is $28, do you take the pay cut and dive in fully to your new role as a new nurse or do you stay on as a welder PT/PRN and work as a nurse PT/PRN to offset the pay??
  3. It kinda depends on you and when you are looking to apply for your program. There are tooooons of resources and study guides you can use to give you what you need for taking the exam prior to completing those classes.
  4. Will all of your pre-req courses be completed by the time you need to apply? You can always speak with a advisor at the school to double-check if this will interfere with your ability to apply for the program.
  5. I have an AS in Radiologic Technology and will be completing the last pre-req courses for my school's BSN program.
  6. Hey y'all! I'll be completing the last pre-req courses required for the BSN program at my school and then it's interview time. Tell me about the nursing interview. How did you all prepare for it? What questions will they definitely ask? Any feedback is appreciated. Sidenote: I typically kill it in interviews... but I totally understand that this interview will be the determining factor of my being accepted into the program, so I'm waaay more anxious about it. I am a prepper, so I start early ?. My concern is that I am legit 1 year post grad from the Radiology program at the same school. I don't want it to appear as though I am flippant in my decision making.
  7. I just met a PT who is on his way to completing his RN at 51 years old. So, start. It is never too late to better yourself. You got this mama.
  8. My fingers and toes are crossed for you. Do you know if your nursing dept. does it by a point system or something else?
  9. It depends on your school. I would ask your advisor. Some schools base acceptance into the nursing program on a point scale and others don't. What is your overall GPA?
  10. Ahh, OK. I wasn't 100% on how it works but that is good to know for the future. So as long as you maintain residency in a compact state, then you keep the compact license and can obtain a single state license for those needed? For example, I live in FL. I obtain my compact licensure for my home state. If I wanted to take a travel assignment in NY and then one in CA, I could obtain licenses for both (NY & CA) right?
  11. You would just need to apply for your CA license once you've passed the NCLEX. From what I understand, it takes a bit of time to get everything situated, so I would start the application process as soon as you get the greenlight. You can apply in Idaho (getting your compact licensure) and apply in CA, then you're golden to work anywhere you like. ?
  12. Hey y'all, I will finishing up the last of my pre-reqs for the BSN program offered at my school. Tell me about the nursing interview. How did you all prepare for it? What questions will they definitely ask? Any feedback is appreciated.
  13. I got my AS in Radiology and about halfway through the program, I knew that it was not the field I was to be in forever. My school offers a FastTrack BSN that I am applying for after I complete the last 5 pre-reqs required. I don't necessarily regret getting my degree in Radiology, however I wish I would have went with my first mind and stuck to nursing the first time around.
