Hi ChemGirl, I attended one of those Zoom Admissions sessions that they had and I asked that question. I was told during that session that they were going to call the 3 selected students on a particular date. So, of course, I did not get a call. I started the program but I requested a leave of absence. It was really hard for me to balance a lot of personal/family things. Vandy is a great school. I would say be prepared for how accelerated it is. It's really a program that requires you to retain a lot of information in a short period of time and get tested on it often. Great instructors/professors. Good luck with the program.

This was my first choice program when I decided to switch careers. I was like wow, I would get world class education and not have to relocate. I ultimately decided on an in-person experience. I have heard wonderful experiences on this forum. However it's good to see another experience. This is very helpful to future applicants.

I apologize, I didn't know that you had learning disabilities and Asperger's.

Hi, the one thing I would say is refrain from labelling yourself "terrible at math". You can do well at Math if you are focused on applying yourself and ensuring you understand concepts. I remember growing up with a Dad that's a math wiz, an older sister who failed math, and I had a similar mindset to yours. I went through high school just doing average in math. I got to college and excelled at all levels of math once I took responsibility for my own learning. You can too. Don't expect someone to sit and explain things to you....get the book and take the time to teach yourself. I kept practicing questions (every single question in the book). Since then I have received As in any quantitative graduate course I have taken. You can do it too.

Not at all, I don't mind you asking.....Yes, for my prereqs.....4.0, cum GPA 3.83. They count the Chem with lab as 1 pre req.

Hi nurse02022, initially it did affect my application because admissions put my application on hold because I had 4 prereqs pending. They said I couldn't have more than 3. So, once the term was over, I sent over my grade for 1 course......and then within 4 or so days of sending over that grade I got accepted. Good luck. UM is a great program.

Hi Alex, what has admissions told you about the waitlist? I recall that in the past some people are pulled from the waitlist within a couple weeks of the start date. I hope you get off the waitlist. Whats your specialty?

Hi, you do not need to live in ATL for this program. You may be able to pursue this program based on where you actually live. The first step is to email [email protected] and let them know you are interested in the program and tell them the city and state you live in to see if they would be able to arrange clinicals in your hometown. It's awesome to see feedback from current students. Personally, I wanted to attend a highly rated school but it's so hard to gauge which school is best for me. I ultimately decided on Vanderbilt. What makes the program feel disorganized?

Your logic is on point. I will be seeing you at Vanderbilt. I deliberated whether Emory or Duke would have been a better fit for me but in the end I felt that Vandy's program takes me to NP the fastest. And of course, as you said, the seamless transition to DNP is an added benefit. I am happy you selected Vanderbilt. I was in Nashville over the weekend (I live in Florida) and it seems like a great city. Johns Hopkins is a top school and I think that you would have been OK with that choice if you made it.....but I have heard some complaints about the tuition costs being on the higher side. Which specialty did you select? I selected AGPCNP.

Both are great schools. I think you should consider whether you see yourself living long term in Baltimore or Nashville. Is cost a factor for you?

seems like these scholarships are so competitive. I would have loved to have been awarded even a partial (other than what was included in the admission letter).

They have already been awarded....all 3 scholarships. The Dean called the students to inform them

OK so it sounds like Mid April. Not too great that they will confirm packages only 4 weeks before school starts.

Hi....I think it's all about competitiveness. I think that they have the applicants who are awaiting decisions and the waitlisted applicants and once a spot opens up they go back to the list and make their decision. I don't think that the waitlisted applicants are necessarily prioritized over the other applicants. I remember someone saying they asked about whether waitlist applicants are ranked. The response was similar to a denial that the applicants are ranked and the process is the admissions teams goes through the process of reevaluating those applications that are vying for the spot. I definitely think that by next Monday we are going to hear about acceptances....maybe not as much denials. Also, some students accept and pay the deposit then last minute decide they will not attend. I hope you get a favorable answer soon.

@ForeverPsych I decided that Vandy is for me. Nashville here I come. I pretty much had to evaluate between Vanderbilt and the University of Miami. Pretty happy with my choice. I have lost $1300 in deposits and fees to UM (also took a Chemistry w/lab course that's driving me crazy....that I will not need that cost about $1500) but that's the cost I incurred for ensuring that I had a number of options (Emory & UM required it). Duke is a great school but I am going to decline that offer (husband doesn't want to go to North Carolina & it's a BSN 16 month program vs Vandys 2 year NP Program. How's things with you?

Hi again, just received an email from Financial Aid. This is what it said: OK, so if I am to understand this....first I was told that financial aid packages were to be released no later than end of February. Now I am being told "some time around April/May". Unacceptable for me big time. LOL. And I love how they do not have a goal to let us know when it will be released...."we do not have an exact time". No thanks.
