  1. Hi there, Thank you for your response! I heard Sacramento was very competitive too. I ended up getting accepted to a different school recently and start my journey November 1st. Best of luck to you with your HESI exam! I know you'll do even better!! Let us know if you make it:)
  2. Oh! and I just read your message about my HESI score. Honestly I wasn't too competitive I got a 75%. I did extremely good in Anatomy I actually scored 100% somehow (odd flex), but everything else I seemed to be pretty basic in like on a C level. I think comprehension was high too, but I'm not sure of the score. I'm not the greatest test taker tbh so that's what scares me about nursing school since I know it's test based, but I tried it out. I wish the exam was more nurse related. I felt like bio, chem, math kinda hurt me for the most part. At least the new school I'm trying for only looks at reading, comp, grammar, and math.
  3. Hi Heather, Sorry it took me awhile to respond! I recently just got back from a vacation and now I'm back to reality, LOL. I have a close friend of mine who actually attends a school by the name of West Coast University. It's some what like Chamberlain, but it actually caught my interest a little bit more. The application process is a lot like Chamberlain's, but they go based off a point system instead, which I sort of like better. I'm going to try that campus out for my Accelerated BSN and see what happens! I'm still looking at ADN programs, but those still seem very competitive as well. I wish the process would come quicker though I've been at this for years now it's crazy! I recently caught some interest in Respiratory Therapy as well, so that's always a great back up plan if nursing wasn't to work out for me. Funny story is I actually met three girls on vacation who are RT's and had some pretty cool stories to share with me about their journey. Kinda a coincidence I ran into them with that on my mind! Either way I'm going to keep shooting for nursing and hope I get a chance. Have you found out if you got accepted yet?!
  4. Sadly I did not get accepted:( I have been working one on one with an advisor from Chamberlain for awhile now and she seemed just as shocked as I was! I was applying for fall start, but now I am pushing it to possibly next year (I'm also trying a couple ADN programs as well). I'm aware nursing school is competitive to get into, so I'm wondering if COVID is making it even worse or something..I'm not sure. I was so confident I would be accepted it sucks. A couple of my classes didn't transfer over so I'm planning on just taking them over at Folsom Lake College and try again. Maybe take my HESI again, which is a total pain since I scored well in my opinion. I hope you have better luck than me and get in!! Keep me updated on you status girl. I'll be keeping my fingers crossed FOR YOU! What start date are you working towards? ?
  5. Hey Heather, Yes! I also received the canvas for Chamberlain as well and the success seminar. I think every applicant gets one. I'm not quite sure as to why they do that because I've never heard of any other program giving applicants a canvas to the school when they haven't been accepted yet. I thought the same exact thing and got my hopes up. I'm glad you brought up transferring because that reminds me I need to ask my advisor about that, LOL. I chose to go to Mirimar, FL as a backup which is in the Miami area basically. I figured If I have to move might as well enjoy my stay extra haha. I find out if I get in sometime this week, so I'm super anxious as well. I know the process is so stressful I've been going stir crazy about it for awhile now, so we are in the same boat. Best of luck to you girl! Keep in touch with your results. I believe we can do it and make great nurses ? Take care!
  6. Hi there, I applied to Chamberlain as well. Got my award package and did not get accepted:( I thought it was an indicator that I would be too! I got an account on my chamberlain, and even financial meetings prior to finding out I was declined from the campus. All of that extra work made it seem like I was, but I guess not! I'm retrying again for some of the other campuses as of now! Best of luck to you though! I hope you get in:)
  7. Wow! That's awesome. Best of luck to you and your journey!
  8. Absolutely! I've known a handful of students who have been rejected from that program. Including myself. In Sacramento the campus say's it's benchmark is a 3.0 GPA, but really accepts students within a 3.4 and up. Not to mention, an entry exam (HESI A2) of at least the high 90's to even be considered competitive. The HESI exam is about 6 hours long and tests you on 7 topics that require you to get a good grade in order to obtain that high 90's score they're looking for. The school only has 40 seats open (maybe even less now). I'm not sure why people give the school such a a bad rep. At the end of the day those students sit in the same NCLEX every other nurse had to do.
  9. Thank you! I agree, California is hard. I need to get out of here! LOL.
  10. I am currently, looking into applying in the near future to Chamberlain University of Sacramento, but am nervous to apply with a GPA around 3.0-3.2. I say near future because I need to achieve that GPA first before I apply. The website says the benchmark is a 3.0, but administration says a 3.4 and higher is what they typically accept. The school also requires a HESI exam score in the 80's and a passion letter. From what I have researched these are the keys to getting into the program despite GPA. My question is, Has anyone ever been accepted with lower than the 3.4? and if the HESI and passion letter helped them get in with the lower GPA?
  11. I know exactly what you mean! I'm in 2, 3 unit courses and a 7 unit class to help boost my GPA, but over the Summer it looks like I'll need to decide on what science class to take ?
  12. Thank you for your response! I might be moving out of state, so this is something that's important for me to look into ?
  13. Thank you so much! I have been looking into ADN programs as well, but Chamberlain is the top of my list. Best of luck with your GE classes! I took those as well and I remember them being good courses. I will continue with the CNA and just pray that I get in! ?
  14. Wow! Thank you so much for this post! I've been looking around to hear something like this. You happened to say you took 13 units to boost your GPA and that is exactly what I'm doing too! What classes did you choose to boost your credits? So far, I have a 7 unit/6 week CNA course and a P.E. class for an easy A.
  15. Hi there, I am applying hopefully to Sacramento campus for January 2021 as well! You caught my attention when you said that the HESI was not required, because I just had my open house and they said I will need the HESI?
  16. I am currently trying to get into the BSN RN program for Sacramento and from what I hear it is highly competitive. Since you went through that process and re applied in Arizona, are you able to take that acceptance and transfer it to the Sacramento campus?
  17. I myself am in a similar situation. I know people like you and I who were excepted into Chamberlain despite the low GPA. With that being said, if you do well on your entry exam, which is the HESI. You do have a chance. Volunteer work, internships, certificates, etc. will help you as well. I'm In California one of the most competitive states for nursing and if these lower GPA people can be accepted for a BSN-RN in this program I don't see why we wouldn't be as well. Retaking classes to bring up the GPA to look more competitive would also be a good idea as well if you want some extra cushion!
  18. Currently, I find myself in quite the pickle. As of Fall 2020 I have finished all my pre-req courses, csu requirements, and general ED. My GPA as of right now is a 2.8 and I really need it to just hit that 3.3 to be competitive for the particular program I am looking into. I already have one retake in A/P part 1 and received a C. Part 2 an A, and Micro C, Chemistry C (my other pre-reqs I received B's).I'm not sure if retaking any of these courses will look so hot on my transcript when I apply, so I was thinking of taking a nursing related course that I am confident I can pass with an A. It's a basic CNA class that can most likely boost my GPA. I still need to take a fitness course to finish one of my AA's and I know that will be an easy A as well. Is something like those courses recommended to boost a GPA? or should I retake some of those science courses?
  19. Currently, I am enrolled in a community college and recently just finished all of my pre-nursing courses, including CSU requirements, as well as accomplishing two associate degrees. One in Allied Health, and Interdisciplinary Mathematics and Biological Sciences. I live in California and have always struggled with having a lower GPA (2.8 as of right now). A little history of myself as a student is that I've always struggled in school with test taking (my main concern), but somehow have made it this far. I have been in a CC for almost 4 years because I dug my self in a very deep whole when I was fresh out of high school a couple years ago and I have worked hard to get my GPA up and focus on my goals. I am 22 right now and feel like I am just super behind and need to get the dice rolling, but it's almost like there's always something I have to do in order to get my GPA up. I do understand that I made the bed that I lye in, so I have to just work harder and fix it. I transferred community colleges even though I finished everything there is for me to do, because my current school does not allow me to retake any C's, which are mainly bringing my GPA down. At the new school I transferred to it's almost certain that with the classes I retake (if I get an A or B) that I can obtain an 3.3 GPA. Although, that's not competitive for California I am flexible to moving out of state to lower GPA schools. I have been looking into states that have BSN-RN programs such as Reno, Texas, Tennessee, and even private institutions. At the new community college I am at now, I noticed they had an ADN- RN program with a paid bridge program for my BSN after I graduate. Although, that sounds like a pretty awesome deal with a reasonable GPA, acceptance rate, and graduation rate. I'm not sure if I am just cutting myself short here. The goal has always been to jump straight into my BSN-RN, but by the looks of my grades and the type of student I am a ADN might be easier for me to accomplish first. My question is, is will an ADN program be more successful for a student like me and my lower GPA even though I will eventually have a 3.3-3.4 verses possibly getting into a BSN program out of state? Also, is an ADN program easier than a BSN? Not trying to seek an easy way out, but I am curious.
