Yes! Definitely felt the same, it was a strange and somewhat awkward interview! I've heard great things about their workplace environment and culture for new grads, but something felt off. It's best to go with your gut sometimes I guess

I've heard a lot of hospitals in SoCal don't pay super well, especially compared to NorCal nurses ?

Thank you! I ended up declining the position for a couple reasons. Pay wasn't too big of a deal since I'm really just wanting experience (but it would be nice to get decent pay LOL). I applied for ER and they seemed to have messed up the process because I was asked to interview/got an offer for their surgical unit. They also seemed a little disorganized, and they even gave me incorrect contact info so... IDK some red flags here and there on top of a possible 3 year contract wasn't the best.

They offered me starting at $37.50 with a $4 differential for night shift and a $4 differential for weekends. They explained it would go up to $41 at 6 months and then $45 at the year mark. I wasn't informed of the 3 year commitment at all, only through searching online. When they offered the job it was hinted at as a one-year commitment...

It was 25-30 minutes, when you sign up you can see the whole schedule and they were pretty booked with interviews every 30 mins. They didn't have any clinical questions, just a few behavioral Qs and then we chatted about unit preferences and such.

I did! Just came on to ask the same question. I interviewed a few days ago and my status is still "interview step - scheduled"

Hey! So to preface this - I think they're both great schools, so you should definitely feel good about whichever you choose. That said, I am at NYU right now and my sister is in her last semester at UM, which is 3 semesters. With NYU you get the name on your resume but honestly I feel so rushed and stressed all the time and I have 4 semesters. My sister is absolutely drowning on the 3 semester track (but she is able to do it). I wish I had another semester as is, so I personally can't imagine doing 3. However, NYU is PRICEY and has its downsides like all schools. I'd ask other students at Pace on how they feel they've been treated by profs and faculty, too! I have great profs, but not so great admin (they've made life SO difficult with clinicals) and my sister has profs that don't advocate for them at all, which makes their workload even worse than it is. I personally wish I had taken more than just the name, price, and length into consideration but no going back now hahah Also congrats on your acceptances!!

Yes and no. I love my profs and they are great people and care a lot. To be totally honest, the education is not the best of the best, especially with covid (all of our simulation clinicals are cut in half, so only an hour-ish). You really pay for the name, which does help with getting a job in the long run. But it's a brutal program with lots of busy work, and as much as the profs are helpful, administration has no student advocacy aside from our amazing dean, so if something goes wrong you're on your own unless your teachers can handle it or the dean is available. I hope it is a different program once restrictions clear up, because I know this semester has been very trying on us all to be paying so much to sit in our apartments all day.
