  1. I remember how anxiety inducing this is, so best of luck to all of you! I hope to see some of you next fall!
  2. Me and another person were placed on the alternate list. When she spoke to someone, they said they put every PMHNP student on the alternate list because they were trying to figure out residency spots. They figured out the residency situation and we were taken off the alternate list and accepted.
  3. Once I was accepted, had to do the background check, fingerprinting, fill out vendor forms, etc. We also had a meeting for all nursing scholarship recipients to ask questions and talk about residency. My program starts this year and is a little over two years!
  4. Applications are on a rolling basis and I think this "season" ends in September, so you definitely have a shot! I will say that, in our town hall meeting, they did mention that the scholarship is much more competitive than previous years (something like going from a 90% acceptance rate down to a 10-15%). I, however, don't know if that was specific to either NP or BSN or just the stats of both combined.
  5. I applied a few months ago and got it. Did you apply for BSN or PMHNP? Also, what date did you submit your application?
  6. Was accepted (and attending) Yale starting this Fall. I am an incoming GEPN student (PMHNP) so I’d be willing to answer any questions/give some advice if anyone needs it! Good luck!
  7. Thanks for the response! Could you explain how the residencies work? I understand they’re required now, so I was curious about the selection process!
  8. Neither. This is the Veteran Affairs scholarship - you don't need to be affiliated with the military in any capacity to receive it.
  9. Anything you want to know specifically?
  10. Hello! I was just curious - has anyone else applied to for the VA HPSP scholarship this year? Specifically, the PMHNP track!
  11. Hello! Has anyone applied this year/waiting to hear back?
  12. I’m hoping so! The optimist in me just wants to believe they changed the scholarship process and the FA document hasn’t been updated to reflect it. Wishful thinking? ?
  13. That is what threw me off, too. This what I was referencing in my email. But you’re probably correct: best to go off what is written. I will say the website mentions that one of the scholarships will be received by March 25th.
  14. Glad to see so many fellow students of color accepted! Woohoo! I also agree. This is especially true since lots of schools are now requiring their deposits. By waiting out and hoping to get the Vandy scholarship, people may pass up other scholarships/schools and end up with nothing. Vanderbilt is awesome, but I’d hope they understand that a lot of people don’t have the financial privilege of going to a school just because they love it. Money is important.
  15. Right?! However, I would still be cautious! People are hearing different things and, to be fair, the financial aid info they sent DOES mention the scholarships being for enrolled students.
  16. This was the question asked: “Just to clarify something in the email: is it correct that we must actually be enrolled—not just accepted—into the program to be considered for the internal, full-tuition scholarships?” This was the response: “All admitted students are considered for one of three full tuition scholarships. Therefore, you will be considered. We will begin reviewing that information in the next couple of weeks.” Perhaps I’m interpreting her response incorrectly, but just sharing what was told to me.
  17. Who did you speak with? I was told yesterday by the director of financial aid that all admitted students were considered. I even specifically asked about being accepted vs enrolled. I hope they all get on the same page!
  18. As for the full tuition scholarships, I was told all admitted students were considered and that the committee will discuss recipients in the coming weeks.
  19. Phew! I thought I applied to the wrong program, too! Though paying only one year of tuition DOES sound nice. ? Congrats to you as well!
  20. Also...does anyone else’s acceptance letter not mention the prespecialty year at all?
  21. It is quite odd how Vanderbilt has one of the earliest application deadlines, but is one of the latest to release decisions.
  22. Every time I see all the people reading this thread, I think they’ve posted something ??
  23. When it comes to writing letters, I never ask if they can just write me a letter, but a STRONG letter of recommendation. Most professionals/academics understand this to mean that you need more than just a generic letter. If they accept, then I would send them a copy of my CV and any personal statements I have written for the program. This allows them to talk up your accomplishments and make the letter a bit more personal.
