they are EXTREMELY unprofessioal and don't seem to value nurses. They WILL low-ball you any way they can. They are also highly aggressive and seem to think this is the way to motivate you to work more shifts. One of their staffers almost has a bully mentality. I recommend steering clear. There are other agencies that will respect you and treat you well--look before you leap!

hi suni, i just got home, too. here is some info, cut & pasted directly from the amsn website-- notification of examination scores candidates will be notified of their scores approximately six (6) weeks after test administration. c-net will forward all examination scores to the candidate as follows: a total score will be provided for candidates who successfully pass the examination. a total score and subscores in all the major test areas of concentration will be provided for candidates who do not pass the examination.the total score given in the report is a transformation of a raw score, referred to as a "standard score." the scale used for the medical-surgical nursing certification exam has a mean (average) of 100 and a standard deviation of 10. a scaled score of 95 is required to pass the exam. about 71% correct is required to pass the certification examination. i hope we both don't have to think about this for another 5 yrs!

Hello everyone! For those that are already VA employees, do any of you know the pay rates for VA nurses in Hawaii? There is no info on usajobs nor the vacareeers websites for RNs (for this location, as no vacancies are posted). I know location factors in to the pay rate. Thanx!!

Of course, there is quite a LONG list of nurses waiting to get jobs at their facility--no surprise--however, I believe whatever is meant to be, will be!! Hi! Anyone know how to find out if there are any RN vacancies at the VA facility in Hawaii? The VA website always indicates that there are no openings--I've looked for many months, and of course I guess this is possible, but I still find it hard to believe. I looked at the usajobs website, and there positions for medical staff, other than nurses. Any guidance would truly be appreciated. Thx!

Good luck to you, too, Suni!! I know how it is!! We need 71% to pass--never one to set low expectations, however, when reality sets in, we have to go into things with our eyes wide open. Do the best you can and use all the critical thinking skills you have acquired over the years! Take care!

Hi! I too will be sitting for the cert exam next month (in little over a week!). I attended the 2 day Cert. Review Course this month conducted by AMSN. I think it was informative. But I wanted to know if anyone else attended this class, then took the exam and found it actually helped. Any input would truly be appreciated. Thanx!
