NYU ABSN Spring 2021
Well, with Rush, if I decide to apply there for my DNP (Im thinking CRNA or FNP), I will get free tuition (granted I get in when that time comes LOL). Im still deciding what exactly I want to do within nursing, but the program at Rush will also leave me with my CNL certificate, so that can open up the doors to some leadership positions. Additionally, the aid (a decent scholarship and fed loans are great since it’s a professional degree and not an undergraduate) I got is pretty great. With Rutgers, the program is shorter, I could start working faster, and if I don’t go to rush for my DNP, I wouldn’t have to take a bunch of graduate level classes over again. I've also heard lots of folks who say they were glad they didn’t do a GEM program to start out with. So it will be a touch decision! I hope you hear back from NYU soon! What other schools are you deciding on?

Right now I’m deciding between Rutgers and Rush University’s GEM MSN program (in Chicago)! Just waiting to see what my financial aid from Rutgers looks like!

NYU ABSN Spring 2021
@autumn78 for the 2020-2021 financial aid/school year, I got 3750 in scholarships that the college of nursing gives, 1500 in work study, then the rest in federal loans. There is a lifetime limit to how much money you can take out in federal loans for an undergraduate degree....and since I already took out loans for my first bachelors, it wasn’t a lot this time around. And yes, I think a lot of federal grants we can’t get since it’s a second bachelors.

NYU ABSN Spring 2021
It’s within a week. (That being said, it will be two weeks for me on Friday and I still havent accepted/ declined. I was trying to figure out my finances though and contacted financial aid with questions over the weekend. I will likely end up declining tomorrow though because I would have to take out almost 70k in private loans which I just don’t know if that makes sense for me right now ? )

Depending if you are in state, around 30k. Out of state, around 55k I think. I gotta look at the numbers again.

NYU ABSN Spring 2021
LOL please elaborate a bit more...I saw some of your posts earlier. Do you think this was just because of COVID and it was a learning curve for the program?

NYU ABSN Spring 2021
Since my checklist is gone I'm not entirely sure, but going by my emails I got confirmation of my application submission on Sept 28. Undergrad GPA 3.3 (Sociology degree) A&P 1: A A&P2: A Chem: A Micro: A Nutrition: In progress Stats: B+ Dev Psych: In progress I had two letters of recommendation, and have worked in health education/sexual health for the past 4 years. Also @kris1998 I am also waiting on Rutgers Newark before I make a decision...and unfortunately NYU wants their decision within a week!

NYU ABSN Spring 2021
No, but I did have someone reach out just to send me the syllabus for one of the classes I had in progress, and then to verify that a previous class I had taken (chem) had a lab component. But they did not ask for any midterm reports.

NYU ABSN Spring 2021
I have two still in progress...nutrition and developmental psych.

NYU ABSN Spring 2021
Just got in! And yes, my checklist disappeared. They sent an email also telling me to check my status.

WPUNJ Accelerated Nursing
Yea it said you could take up to 19 credits in the Spring. But it makes sense if lots of folks applied, they are going to pick people who have all there pre reqs done instead of people who need to take like 2 to 4 classes come Spring. Also Lisa 3.7 is a very competitive GPA! The minimum GPA was a 3.0.

WPUNJ Accelerated Nursing
My application portal says the same thing! And yea my letter gave me a list of reasons related to why I may not have gotten in but wasn’t specific. I think it was the prerequisites though....the one course that was WPUNJ specific I hadn’t taken (was planning to take in the Spring if I got in, which they said was allowed). Then then I’m taking Developmental Psych and nutrition now so I think it was just too many classes I didn’t have. Also none of my prereqs were taking at a NJ college LOL, so I think that also made things difficult for them to see quickly what was an equivalent (like for my nutrition and chem classes—-took chem 1 & 2, got an A in both, also took a sociology research methods class in undergrad, but again I think just so many things would have had to be verified as equivalents).

Accelerated BSN vs Direct-Entry MSN option
Hi, I know this was from a while ago...but what did you decide on? I'm still trying to decide b/w direct entry MSN CNL program and ABSN programs

Direct entry MSN worth over $100,000 in debt?
Hey, What did you end up deciding? I am in the exact same boat... pretty much. Got into a direct entry CNL program, but I am think that I may want to do FNP later on, or even CRNA, so I am not sure what to do and if it is best to do an ABSN program.
