Congratulations everyone who have a success to enter the program!! I am still working on finishing some pre requisite courses. I am wondering how everyone knows their GPA? I mean I know those 5 pre requisite courses individually and my previous post secondary one ( mine has no transferable courses so they said they will take the cumulative GPA) then how can you estimate your overall GPA? Just combine all and divide by the number of courses? also, when we send our transcript, u of c will look at the letter grading (a,b,c...) or they will just see point I achieved (like 4.0,3.7...) Have a good one!

Hi everyone, Just a quick check before I move forward, does anyone have taken PSYC 289 from Athabasca university to fulfill one of pre-requisite courses (Arts)? Or anyone knows it's acceptable? I notice people take PSYC 228 but I thought I would prefer to take 289.. Any feedback would be a great help!! Thank you all, and good luck on your journey.

Hi all, I all of sudden got curious about Transcript and GPA for admission. So once I submit my transcripts of post secondary & 5 pre requisite courses, will admission take the grade (A,B,C...) as determinant of GPA or they will look at the percentage of how much I achieved then convert into UofC’s own GPA scale range? Each school has slightly different score conversion.. other question is if applicants graduated from two post secondary schools (my case, it’s degree first then got another diploma), they advised me admission will only look at the latest education GPA which is my diploma. Am I still supposed to submit both institution’s transcripts? Or the only they will look into? any advice? Thank you in advance!

Good afternoon, I am taking a few courses through athabasca univ as well. Wondering how everyone calculate their approximate GPA? As you see the chart below, Faculty of Nursing official GPA scale seems rank differently than Athabasca&u of c general. (top: nursing / bottom: general uofc scale) does anyone know how the admission department calculate our GPA? Will take reconsider the score and transfer to as per the nursing department standard? So for example, my fianl score is 87 which is A according to Uof c general chart but then it will turn out to become A-(3.7) when they process our transcript? Dhow does this work? Please advise, Chloe

Hi Marta, I appreciate your feedback! I am not sure I explained my situation appropriately. I was told 15 course from the latest post-secondary will be adding to those another 15 credits prerequisite coursework then they calculate GPA for admission cutoff. (Effective Fall Session 2017, the Transfer Admission GPA will be calculated based on the pre-requisites outlined under “Admission Requirements” (English, Arts, Statistics and Anatomy/Physiology), regardless of when they were completed, plus an additional 15 units taken from the most recent t"ransferable coursework" for a total of 30 units.) I was wondering what if the none of the courses I took from the latest post-secondary school is transferable as per here: http://transferalberta.alberta.ca/transfer-alberta-search/#/searchTypeStep ? Will they just take a cumulative GPA from my previous post-secondary institution? Your help would be greatly appreciated as I am taking a few prerequisites from Athabasca and there is no need for me to keep studying if none of my previous courses are acceptable..

Thank you for your reply! I actually got it confirmed with one of an advisor from nursing that my college credit will be used for admission purposes as it is the most recent. However, I talked with another advisor from admission, and she recommended me check at TransferAlberta to see those courses are transferable... I went to the webpage to see, however, there were no courses I took on the transferable list... I am in a panic... As the nursing advisor told me that as long as I take 15 credits of a prerequisite courses, it's fine. Does anyone have the same issues before? Am I supposed to take another 15 credits that can be transferable?

Hi all, I am planning to apply for the University of Calgary degree holder next year. Wondering if there is anyone who is on the same boat as me. I graduated from my university back home like a few years ago then went to my colleague here in Calgary. in this case, I am intended to be under the degree holder route? Also if that's the case, which transcript or grade will they look for? from my latest education (But this is a diploma). Please advise, thank you ?
