Northern Virginia Community College (NOVA) Spring 2021
CONGRATULATIONS! I was really moved by your post last week about breathing, adaptability, and patience...it really helped me calm down on a really stressful day. I’ve been keeping my fingers crossed for you and am so happy for you!! Welcome to the cohort!

Northern Virginia Community College (NOVA) Spring 2021
I don’t think so! I think it’s an opportunity to learn more and ask questions, even though there’s a lot of good info on their website. I’m happy to share my notes, if you (or anyone else!) is interested in the program but can’t attend the webinar.

That’s probably not a bad idea, but fingers crossed we won’t need to! I’m hoping we’ll know NOVA’s decisions by the 5th and definitely by the 12th so we can decide which one(s) are worth it to attend. Do those webinars fill up? If so, it may be a good idea to sign up now to save your spot, then you can cancel later when decisions go out from NOVA!

Me too, @Soup1998! there is a similar webinar for the co-enrollment program on November 5 that I’m signed up for, you can find more info here: https://calendar.gmu.edu/event/rntobsnco-enrollment-programs-information-session-3/

I believe so. I recently moved between local counties and asked before applying if it made a difference, and they said no!

I’m subscribed to the MEC blog and got an email today about a virtual RN-BSN transfer event on Wednesday (10/14). I know these have been open to prospective and incoming nursing students in the past, wanted to share here since we’ve been talking so much about co-enrollment and the Advance program! https://blogs.nvcc.edu/mecexchange/2020/10/12/attention-october-14th-RN-to-BSN-transfer-event/

Northern Virginia Community College (NOVA) Spring 2021
Last year’s cohort got their decisions on October 26, and earlier in this thread MEC said they’re working ahead of schedule this year. My guess (my hope!) is within the next week or two! I’m with both you and @Molly15 — super nervous and dreading it but also so anxious to know either way. Being in limbo and unable to make plans for the next few months is a real challenge!

Does this mean that decisions could go out as early as next week? That would be 3 weeks ahead of last year!

Northern Virginia Community College (NOVA) Spring 2021
Thank you so much for the update! It’s really comforting to know where we are in the process! Looking back at last year’s thread, it looks like this step was completed around Oct 4 last year, and decisions were announced three weeks later on the 25th. Major kudos to the staff for working through these so quickly with nearly 3x the number of applications!

Same! 4.0, 4/4 co-reqs completed, and I live in Alexandria. With a “perfect” application I felt cautiously optimistic, but now I’m more cautious than optimistic LOL. I have to think though that the increase is due to people pursuing nursing in response to the pandemic, in which case there’s no way that people have been able to get a lot of the co-reqs under their belt during the Summer session. My guess is that there are a lot of applications with only BIO 141 and PSY 230 done. I totally get it - the circumstances this year are so unique - but man! The stress is REAL! I have my fingers and toes crossed for you all! ❤️

Northern Virginia Community College (NOVA) Spring 2021
After being rejected last cycle, I hustled to take my final two co-requisites in six weeks this Summer. It was tough and exhausting but I did it, and I just re-applied today with everything complete. Feeling very excited and very nervous! Good luck to you all!!

Northern Virginia Community College (NOVA) Spring 2021
I haven’t applied yet, but for my fall application it took about 2 weeks for me to get the Step 2 email. I know it’s easier said than done, but I wouldn’t worry about it too much quite yet. Good luck!!

This past cycle, 550+ applied for 60-80 spots. I don’t know for sure, but based on what I’ve read, it’s usually closer to 300-400 for ~100 spots.

Let me know if you end up taking -------------------! And to anyone else who’s taking Micro with ------------------- this Summer, let me know, I’d love to organize a virtual study group for us. Maybe we could even have a social distance study picnic one day! Sounds like we’ve got another competitive application cycle ahead of us; would love to help us ALL be stronger applicants!!

I’m taking the Sat/Sun AM Bio 150 and online CST for the second half of the Summer, if you need a study buddy! By then I’ll have all co-reqs with As (knock on wood) and 4.0 in pre-recs. My boyfriend and I were already planning on moving to Alexandria late Summer/early fall for his new job; I told him last night we need to move sooner rather than later so I can establish residency by Sept 20, LOL. Not much more I can do!

NVCC Fall 2020
Yeah, it definitely felt like a crapshoot. I Know they’re probably working with EXTREMELY limited clinical sites this year, so I totally get it, but it’s especially tough to know that you can do everything right and it still isn’t enough. I feel like the Spring application period this fall is going to be especially competitive too, since there are so many qualified applicants here who will be applying again, in addition to everyone else who would’ve been applying them anyway. I responded to my rejection letter today asking about the waitlist and received a form letter that said: “We had a very competitive pool of applicants this year. We will be admitting another group of 80 - 100 students this fall for a January start.” And they referred me to MEC for specific questions. I’ll report back if I get additional information!

NVCC Fall 2020
I just received a rejection letter. It said there were over 550 applications for a class of 60-80. I’m so, so sad and honestly surprised, as I felt I was a competitive applicant: 4.0 in pre-reqs, 2/4 co-reqs completed, resident of Arlington County CONGRATS to those of you made the cut! I’m going to take the other 2 co-recs this Summer and re-apply for the Spring. Hope to meet you all then!

NVCC Fall 2020
Assuming we all get in (good vibes!), is anyone else going to try to squeeze in another co-req in the second Summer term? I’d love to get as many of those out of the way as possible so I can focus on the nursing classes, especially since I’ll need to work full-time (or close to it) during the program. Or, has anyone taken Microbiology in a shortened term that can weigh in on how difficult it is to do?
