New nurse During The pandemic
Hey guys , I've been a nurse since June and I’m looking to make the most out of the pandemic financially. So many seasoned nurse nurses are out here attaining financial freedom . I’m on a step down unit and I’ve been working hard to try to get to ICU . My manager tells me that after a year I may be able to go up to ICU . With that said, I was hoping to earn some extra money while that time comes because I’m not a person who just waits patiently. I like to be as productive with my time as possible. I was wondering what side hustles you think a new nurse should try to get at the moment . I was thinking about getting my medical coding certification since the course length is short . I’d love to hear you guys suggestions about what I should do next as I wait to try to get in the ICU . I was honestly thinking about just leaving My residency and doing travel nursing On step down

When does it all come together?
I find myself going in to work feeling so motivated to be a good nurse but there’s always something that I’m missing such as critical lab values or sometimes catching a bump in continuity of care that needs to be straightened out. I currently work on a stepdown unit and the line is a little long to get up to the ICU but I’m trying to stand out as much as I can to be included in that number when our director decides to move / float nurses up to the ICU . Any suggestions on how to enhance my skills or critical thinking so I can become more competitive? I bought books but sometimes I feel so overwhelmed from how big they are LOL. I was thinking maybe getting a tutor but all they are trying to do is get someone to pass the NCLEX. I have my license already and I have been a nurse on my own since October. I do receive compliments here and there about my care but I still feel like I’m missing things. Any advice is welcomed!

New Grad Working Two Jobs
I’m currently in a nurse residency program and this is my fifth month as a nurse. I was considering working a part time job somewhere else because: I need a car I want to get more experience to get prepared to be in ICU by next year Spring. (I work in a stepdown unit.) I gotta pay off this debt. I was thinking of applying to another unit somewhere else to see if I like it such as the ER OR I was also thinking about working somewhere else in an ICU. I'm currently in a relationship as well and my boyfriend is totally fine with me grinding right now. I wanted to see what your experience was like and also any advice for me trying to get a side hustle?
