  1. I’m trying to get like you!
  2. Does anyone know when we can apply for the Fall 2022 start?
  3. LOL I have been taking courses all year and have looked at their prerequisites and syllabus. Just wondering what other ppl GPA were!
  4. Yeah I’m taking courses this semester before I apply.
  5. Hey you guys, Im working on taking the science courses and increasing my GPA for an MSN program for non nursing bachelor degree holders. Preferably in California since I’m from there. I’ve emailed UCI, UCSF, U- San Diego etc and they all seem a great fit until I apply . What was your GPA to get into the program? Also, does anyone else work from home while completing the MEPN? I will most likely have to live on campus ….

  7. After all the hard work I put into being accepted into a BSN program through Chamberlain University: I cannot afford the entire program due to maxing out of federal aid and not being approved for private loans, no co-signer. Yes, I`ve applied to scholarships and grants. It won't cover $50,000. ABSN/Other BSN programs will NOT work so don`t suggest them please because most of them are more expensive than Chamberlain`s BSN program and require more prereqs. I have over three years or psych tech/nursing support experience and am applying for Lone Star College LVN program. I need to start a nursing program that I can afford ASAP and then be able to afford to move out of state to earn an AE-MSN/ELMSN. Does anyone else know of any LVNs with a bachelor`s degree in another field?
  8. I already have a bachelors degree and know I want to go into nursing. TX doesn’t have an ELMSN program but only in Austin. Considering how I am already from California,I have two questions: 1. Should I get my ADN so I can work as an RN in California while pursuing my MSN? 2. Is it better to just go for the alternate entry MSN /ELMSN out there? I know the cost of living is high so I’d be by myself.
  9. The only accelerated masters program for non nursing degree recipients are in UT -Austin and they don’t have online which is dumb to me but hey, it’s tx. Does anyone know if the same programs are available online to where I could still have clinicals in Houston?
  10. Yeah but all caps is yelling and condescension is just asking for problems. That’s why I barely come on this site.
  11. Why are you so mean? It’s jusQuestion and I read your postt Question and I read your post
  12. Sounds like that makes sense. I’m currently in Houston. Explain how you got those numbers please
  13. Would there be an RN saturation for the next three years? The projected job growth for PAs is 3 times more than RN
  14. Hi I’m a psychiatric technician at a trauma hospital. I’m applying for ADN in January and need to know what the pay is and if TMC does hire ADN new grads. mice been getting mixed reviews.
  15. I am originally from California and now a Psychiatric Nurse Tech in Houston, finishing pre-nursing this Fall and have always dreamed of providing trauma care for at risk youth. I am a child abuse survivor myself and am wondering how many RNs out there that could steer me in the right direction and are survivors too. Is there a such thing as a nurse practitioner that owns a group home for runaway youth by overseeing their medical needs? Recreation centers? Like, what is out there in regards for a med professional to use their nursing license to improving law policies in managed care for abused kids? I had seen an article about an African American RN in law. Only POSITIVE answers, some of these RNs are toxic on this site and I will report it.
  16. I'm nervous about starting my new job as a psych tech at Ben Taub and was wondering if it's the same as CNA/ caregiving. I have a lot of experience with helping ppl with mental illnesses. Does this position experience a lot of violence? And does it matter since I'm planning on becoming an R. N.? I know the interviewer said my patient ratio would be 4:1 so it's not as bad as it seems. IDK maybe it's my anxiety. I'm in my last prerequisite- BIO A&P and so far know I'm applying through Lonestar College for their ASN program. If this doesnt pan out what other patient care work I can do with similar pay to nursing?
  17. Thank you! Although I don't feel young and I regret not going for nursing years ago but I guess I had to mature more haha.
  18. I have experience as a caregiver/nurse aide in memory care facilities and mental health. I'm 25 so not that young.
  19. Noted! Although I'm still going through paperwork to finalize m degree. It will say Bachelors in General Studies with an emphasis in Psychology, English and communication. So I guess jm considered a double major?? Yeah I am still taking nursing prerequisites (just finished math of liberal arts, and I have left philosophy/English core and biology. )
  20. I'm still open minded about private caregiving if I don't land a state or city psych job. Preferably a hospital until I earn my registered nursing license. I start taking prerequisites tommorow! Thanks for your insight?.
  21. Hello!. Thanks for sharing your experience. I still have ideas on how I can make a difference with my psych degree until I become an R. N. so your story enlightens me more. I've been looking for case aide work while I'm healing from a major surgery I had in March 2020 before the pandemic took over everything. I live in Houston and the last two years have been a nurse aide/caregiver. Also been applying for hospital jobs that would allow me flexibility for any nursing program I can get accepted into, plus, I want out of my stepmoms place and want to stay within medical field until I get licensure. IDK exactly how I'll do it but as I'm healing I'm weighing options and taking pre-nursing classes this Summer.
  22. I have been a nurse aide for two years (without a cna license) at a few SNF and group homes in psychiatric care so I'm not worried about the experience part. There aren't any entry level masters programs for non nursing degree holders in Houston so I'm stuck. The ABSNs are here too but I'd have to take more prerequisites and I don't have any more federal aide for an ABSN. Case management is an ideal field but I'm applying to patient care or advisor roles until I get an RN license.
  23. That's awesome! I'm still going to apply to an ADN although I'm still considering the ABSN, I just don't have funding for the ABSN unless I can get workforce solutions to pay for it.
  24. What ABSN program are you in? I'm in Houston.
