I’ve sent them an email yesterday and haven’t heard from them yet.

In the email it said “You will receive further information by the end of September, and be notified of your final status by October 31, 2020.” I guess we’ll find out our final status end of October?? It’s confusing.

Hey for those who’s applying for 2021 fall, here’s some information I received from the advisor. The Nursing department does not give preference to applicants who complete prerequisites with BCIT and it is typical for applicants to do some or all of the post-secondary level prerequisites outside of BCIT. For the mandatory applicant questionnaire, make sure to complete it fully and thoughtfully. The form cannot be expanded and anything written outside the box cannot be read. Attaching an extra pdf file is not an option. Include information, such as: Relevant work experience – it does not have to be health related, it can be customer service experience, serving experience, etc. They want to see your ‘people care and interactions’ Showcase your leadership and teaching skills. Demonstrate you can work with all types of people (different backgrounds/ages). Travel experience – Have you travelled? Where have you gone? What did you do? What was your experience? Provide examples of what you have done, not what you think nurses should know or do. Volunteer experience is not mandatory, however, it’s recommended to showcase yourself with more than academics. Volunteering can be in any customer service/community role. It is not restricted to patient care. What do you give to your community, your church, your social circle, your workplace – how do you give back? Volunteer options: care home, hospital, rehab centre, food shelter, Special Olympics, hospital host, teaching assistant, student mentor, community centre. The Admissions office checks for the minimum entrance requirements and after the program closes to applications, all applicants who meet minimum requirements are referred to the Nursing department for review. The Nursing department shortlists and invites those applicants to do the non-cognitive questionnaire and makes their final selections after that. The Nursing department considers the following qualities of an applicant: Applicants are ranked on a point system in the application review. Highest points to academics, second to work experience, and third to post-secondary GPA. Academic qualifications. In recent competitions, competitive applicants had 70 post-secondary credits or more completed at the time of application. Work experience. General work experience is reviewed. Having health-related work experience can enhance an application but it is not required. Overall GPA. Having a good GPA (e.g. 3.0 and above) may enhance an application. Volunteer experience is not part of the ranking process, however, if all else is equal it may help to set the applicant apart. I highly recommend to go to their info session. They did mention leadership experience will be an asset to. Good luck!!

@Chippy812 Congratulations on your acceptance to UBCO and TRU!! I understand your frustration. Your decision to start school with UBCO or TRU makes a lot of sense. I'm surprised that both of those schools did not experience any delays like BCIT. I hope everything will go well for you and everyone on this forum.
