Thanks for sharing! I was worried about that bc I applied on time, but my application wasn't verified until a day after the application deadline.

Hi. The Castlebranch website states "It takes on average 3-5 business days to complete a background check. Some state or county searches take a bit longer to conduct based upon the court systems in that jurisdiction." Mine took 5 business days. You can log in to CB and under the to-do list, click "view results" and you'll be able to view a PDF summary of your results. I'm not sure if we're supposed to get any confirmation if it was cleared. I think you will be fine if you already submitted it since that's all they said to do by today.

Hi everyone. How long has it taken you all to gain access to the applicant portal after submitting your application? I received my log in info by email a day after but it doesn't work (given an error message saying the password is wrong). I called the IT help desk and they said to just try again next week ? I'm stressing. I'd really like to check for any missing admission documents/requirements before then bc we're so close to the deadline.

Thank you so much for finding that info for me! That makes me feel better, but fingers crossed it still gets verified before the initial deadline LOL. Hmm okay. I guess we will have to wait and see.

I did both of those too but under the program description tab on nursingcas it says "Applicants should not send a TEAS transcript to TWU. There is a fee to send a TEAS transcript and it will not reach the College of Nursing." That contradicts the email you received? Hopefully they update that because some students may end up having missing documents.. That's impressive!! What did you use to study for the HESI? And did you find it harder or easier than the TEAS?

Some of us did get some ER rotations since I posted that message, so I was wrong about that. So far we have had rotations at Driscoll Children's Hospital, Spohn Shoreline, Wesley Community Center, Counseling and Training Clinic, and a few different CCISD locations (w/ school nurses).

I think I've learned enough to stand a chance on the NCLEX. I am confident in the skills I have learned throughout the program, but I think that most of my learning will take place on the floor as a graduate nurse. That is a good question, but no, not really. If I were you, I would try my best to enjoy the calm before the storm! But there are plenty of resources out there if you want to prepare. I can help you find some if you are having trouble. I understand! I would want these answers if I were in your shoes too! No, I would likely not choose this program again. Some professors are wonderful and competent educators, and others are not. The disorganization could be attributed to the pandemic, laziness, or several other factors. It is hard for me to say with certainty. I would hate for it to be a bad investment or experience too! I know this message is coming a bit late, but I hope the information I have provided so far can help y'all make an informed decision.

Yes, a few students have part-time jobs. I don't think anyone has a full-time one though. Working will likely make the program more challenging, but it is not impossible to do both simultaneously.

I don't see why not. The students in my cohort are from various academic backgrounds, and I'm not sure how much of a role it has played. I'd say that if you are passionate about nursing and you are confident in your ability to study, this program (or any nursing program, really) is a good fit for you. The university is on an island! You should look up the campus on Google Maps so you can see what I mean. I did not apply for any scholarships or grants. I'll have to ask my cohort to see if anyone else did. I know the HRSA has a nursing scholarship; you may be interested in that. Our prior schedules were essentially the same. Same amount of hours, some online classes, some in-person classes. Just no clinicals. We started clinical rotations in our second semester.

It's definitely not necessary! The ABSN program provides all students with a stethoscope. It a simple black Littman.

My schedule this upcoming week is as follows: Sunday: Clinical from 6:30 AM to about 5:00 PM Monday: Clinical from 8:00 AM to about 5:00 PM Tuesday: Lab from 9:00 AM to 11:30 AM, then class from 12:00 PM to 1:30 PM Wednesday: Class from 9:00 AM to 11:30 AM, then another class from 1:00 PM to 3:30 PM Thursday: Nothing Friday: Nothing Saturday: Nothing Other weeks are similar, sometimes a bit more or a bit less. We have online classes that I didn't include in this schedule, but only because they don't have a designated class time. Also, we don't usually have two clinical rotations per week.

Hi @Prija, Congrats on receiving an acceptance offer! That is a huge accomplishment! I hope that everyone who hasn't heard from the university yet gets a favorable notification soon! In my opinion, this program is just alright. It isn't terrible, but it also isn't what I thought a nursing program would be. I don't have any experience with other nursing programs, so it is hard for me to say whether the problems I have with this program would be absent elsewhere - but I would certainly hope so. For example, I think some of the professors' pedagogical approaches are disorganized, almost as if they were put together without much effort or consideration for the student's experience. From receiving assignments with unclear or contradictory instructions to being quizzed over material that a professor agrees is not covered in their course. There are some things about this program that I have genuinely enjoyed as well. Admittedly, the most significant example doesn't have much to do with the program itself, but instead with my classmates. The relatively small size of the ABSN cohorts (about 30 students) and the nature of going through challenging experiences with other people is a perfect recipe for relationship building. I think a big part of our success so far has been thanks to the support we have been able to offer one another. Some other things you may find helpful to know are: Each semester we take one graduate course. A lot of research and some essay writing, but an opportunity to start working toward an advanced nursing degree, nonetheless. This program uses a concept-based curriculum, as opposed to a block-based curriculum. The program has a primary-care focus, so you likely will not get clinical rotations in ICUs or EDs. The ABSN program at TAMUCC is relatively new (I am in the university's 2nd cohort). Also, keep in mind that my cohort began the program in June 2020, a few months after the COVID-19 pandemic began. The pandemic may be to blame for some of the shortcomings I've experienced in this program. Please let me know if you have any more questions or if you'd like me to elaborate on anything. @raven Oh no! I hope they are still able to consider you, but even if you don't get an interview this application period, there is always the next one. If you want to go to nursing school, you will. You got this! @Aerostepn I interviewed on 2/24 and haven't received anything from TAMUCC yet.
