Aesthetics Nursing
I am so excited that I found this thread!! I have been looking into this for about a month or so and this has been the most help yet. I just recently learned that RN's could do procedures like this (guess I have been under a rock) and I plan on making this my new adventure. Isn't nursing great.... If you get tired of one aspect of it you can just find something new and exciting to move in to. I am an ICU nurse and am getting really burned out of the whole hospital scene. It's depressing. I would love to here some input from you guys... it seems like this thread has kind of slowed down though. Well if anybody's out there it would be great to here how things are going. And to bluemoon06, I here through the grape vine that it is very easy to find this type of work for nurses in CA. Good luck! Thanks, Megan

What compainies did you use when you went there? Which hospitals did you work for? Any help would be fantastic!! Thanks a lot, Megan

Info on Sharp Grossman in San Diego
I am currently on an assignment at the Grossmont hospital. I work in the MICU but get floated out to the tele floors often. The hospital is nice, most of the staff is very helpful. This hospital uses a lot of travelers and agency nurses, so staff is prett used to helping us out. I mentioned that I get floated out of my unit quite often but I think that it is because we are usually overstaffed and our census is often low, but the tele floors always are in need of nurses, so I don't really think floating is such a problem for those nurses, but that is just my observation, I am not completely positive on that. Other than that the weather is beautiful, there is a lot of really great housing nearby. Let me know if you have any other questions, or if I can help in any other way. Megan

New to Travel nursing
I just left FL to travel and I'm making almost double what I made out there here in CA. With my tax free money it estimates out that I am making 37/hour. Including free private housing fully furnished. The money is awesome and the work is only half the load it seems like. Even though 30-35/hour doesn't sound like all that much when you start figuring in that you don't have to pay rent or utilities (which are sky high here in CA) then you realize how great of a deal it really is.

Headed to San Diego in August... Hospitals/housing??
Hey all! Just wanted to give you an update. I'm going on my third week in SD actually La Mesa in E county. Im working at one of the sharps hospitals in the MICU. So far so good, pay is pretty decent, staff is friendly and helpful, Housing is excellent (they have me at Missions at Sunbow in Chula Vista). I have heard some horror stories about how this hospital treats travelers.... for example one traveler told me that out of two weeks she was floated out of the unit every shift but one. Also the regular staff here keeps warning me that the travelers always get floated out for the majority of the shifts that they are scheduled to work, and not necessarily to another ICU, more often to a tele unit. Well nothing bad has happened to me yet and I cross my fingers that nothing will. I am with Innovative Placements and I feel like if I do end up getting tossed around that they have my back. But on a lighter note San Diego is beautiful and the weather is awesome!

Washington travel RNs
I am from WA state but now live in FL. A lot of the big city hospitals like over in the Seattle area do not take travelers (or so I am told, havent done any research on it yet) but the town I am from has a really nice hospital. Small town so small hospital but friendly and helpful staff. The town is Wenatchee WA Hospital is Central Washington Hospital. Nurising ratios are 4 or 5 to 1 on the floors and 4 to 1 in the PCU. And 1 or 2 to one in the ICU. If you like a small town you would probably like it. Plus it is really beautiful there and lots of outdoor activities all year around.

What company do you use?

Heard of American Mobile Healthcare
Hey guys! All of this is such great info! I'm just starting to think about traveling and trying to get some ideas of who to go with so I don't get screwed! What should I expect in regards to the housing they provide and the utilities they include. And after all of that is deducted, what does my paycheck look like? Is it really worth that much more to travel?
