Chicago FNP Preceptor Search
I am a current FNP student at Vanderbilt University School of Nursing, looking for a preceptor from Spring 2022 (280 hours) and Summer 2022 (350 hours) - I am able to split up the hours and I am able to precept with an MD, DO, PA, or NP in a family care outpatient setting. Adjunct faculty benefits and more are provided through Vanderbilt for a preceptor willing to precept me! If you are a willing preceptor in the Chicago area or if you need more information, please let me know. Or, if you are not a preceptor, if you have any recommendations on how to go about finding a preceptor please let me know. I need to find one pretty quickly and I am coming up with nothing so far. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance!

Vanderbilt MSN 2020
Ah that's amazing! I was waitlisted in February too and I'm hoping to hear back soon and get off the waitlist for pre-specialty FNP. It's my dream program and I live right here so it would be the best! I would reach out to admissions and ask them! They have been really good and quick with answering all of my questions and they have been incredibly helpful! If you don't mind me asking, what are your stats?

Vanderbilt MSN 2020
Hey! I’ve lived in downtown Nashville for the past two years, so I can definitely give you some tips and answer any questions You might have! If you want to stay close to vandy/downtown I would look at Downtown, the Gulch, Germantown, 12 south, music row and the west end! It really depends on your budget, but most places tend to be around $1500-$2600 for a one bedroom in good areas! If you have any questions let me know!

Vanderbilt MSN 2020
Hey Folks! I was waitlisted for pre-specialty FNP as I've posted about before. I called admissions and they said they took about 4-5 people off of the waitlist last year. However, I failed to ask how many people were placed on the waitlist. Does anyone know the answer to this question so I can grasp a better understanding of my chances of getting off of the waitlist? I would call again but I don't want to sound too needy haha. Congrats to all the new admits!

Vanderbilt MSN 2020
So last year I applied not having any of my prerequisites done, thinking that I would have a year to get all the classes done before matriculation, so it makes sense why I was rejected. I went to both open houses (2018 & 2019) and they kept driving home to show you know the role of your desired speciality (FNP for me). I took all of my prerequisites prior to submitting my application this cycle and got all A's and B's, so I'm hoping it will show the admissions team how much I want this, and that I am a hard worker. They use a holistic approach when reviewing applications so I spent about a year on my essay (the questions were the exact same this year as they were last year, so they might not change for 2021). I have a low undergraduate GPA (3.2), so I really had to prove to them through my essays that I am dedicated and passionate, and I've also been volunteering at the Vanderbilt Children's Hospital where i've met some people who are going through the program. I'm keeping my fingers crossed because Vandy is my top choice and I've been manifesting the opportunity to go there for two years now, so now I'm playing the waiting game like the rest of us. Fingers crossed to all of us

Loyola Chicago Fall 2020 ABSN
Once I got the admit checklist, it was about 10 hours until I got the status update email! I'm still waiting to hear back from one school, but I put the deposit down for Loyola because I don't think i'll be getting into Vanderbilt! I've already started looking for apartments in Chicago, i'm too excited!

Loyola Chicago Fall 2020 ABSN
Hey everyone! I just logged into my account to see if my second recommender posted her recommendation, and my application list changed to admit checklist. I've read in other threads this means I've gotten in, but I just want to see if anyone had a similar experience. I don't want to get my hopes up without an official letter, argh!

Loyola Chicago Fall 2020 ABSN
Hey everyone! I'm applying for the Fall 2020 ABSN onsite program in Maywood, and I just sent my application in this past week. I'm super excited to hear back! I'm a tad worried about my GPA (3.1 BA in Economics), though my science GPA is higher. I'm really banking on my essay and volunteering to show my qualities and skills. If accepted, my boyfriend and I will be moving from Nashville! I've only been to Chicago a handful of times and I was wondering if any of you knew good areas to look in for housing (my BF would be working in the city so somewhere between Maywood and DT Chicago). I'm excited to hopefully get to meet all of you in the Fall!
