Does anyone know much they base their decisions on the personal statement? I know it's quite a bit but I feel like I messed up and it's automatically going to rule me out. I feel like I am a competitive applicant in GPA, experience, and references, but I keep looking at my personal statement and I just don't think I did a good job at displaying my accomplishments or really why I chose Vanderbilt for a MSN... maybe I'm just getting nervous because we are getting closer to finding out..

I think it’s actually based off if you checked the box for financial aid on your application. If you checked it, you got the email. If you didn’t check it, you didn’t get the email. That’s what previous years posts have said.

I agree. I read threads in previous years and calling didn't really help much. Also, they did state in our email that decisions would be out the third week of February and I know the wait has not been the best, but I feel like we should at least give them until then before we call.

I believe so. Just as a general question, has anyone received any other emails from Vanderbilt (that applied by priority date) other than making the priority group? Any emails about financial aid or scholarships?

I noticed that the other day, but couldn't remember if it was there originally.

I applied to FNP as well. All mine says at the top is "Application Status for..." and then it has my checklist. Not sure if that is what your page says! I also applied by priority so I am not sure if you are talking about the manage applications page or if you are looking in the portal.

Mine does not. What looks different on your page? Also, what track di you apply to?

Vanderbilt is the only school I applied to, but I am already looking into other programs in case I do not get accepted. At least we have around a month until we find out application decisions!

I have had my application done since 10/10/2019 and it still says submitted on it.

Does anyone know if they consider the students that were "Waitlisted" as "Accepted"? I am just curious why half/less than half enroll after acceptance.

I might not be much help, but there was a booklet we received at open house this past October on the stats of the last admitted class. I know for direct entry the average GPA was 3.65, and as far as prespecialty goes I believe it was like 3.78 or something like that. I could be totally wrong but from everything I have heard, they definitely look at the applicant as a whole. I wouldn't get too concerned if your stats aren't the same as previous years because it's a totally different applicant pool.

Is this your first year applying to Vandy MSN program? And what is your background in if you don't mind me asking. You sound like me because I have looked at previous allnurses threads multiple times to see how this application process goes haha

That is what we were told at the open house! If someone else attended open house, feel free to clarify but that is the information I remember! Also, if you read the comments on the first page, about 6 comments down, I believe that person attended open house too and she says no interviews this year as well.

They informed us at open house that they are not doing any interviews this year. Last year the decision emails were sent on February 22 and the year before that was February 14.

This is exactly my plan if I get in! I am currently in a BSN program here in Nashville, but I am applying to the part-time program so I can work full time as a nurse while in school. Do you mind if I ask if you have any advice? I have already submitted my application but I currently have a 3.62 but a wide variety of experience in the medical field (medical scribe, nurse assistant, internships, and medical sales experience). I also work in Vanderbilt right now with my medical sales company and have a couple of people as my letter of rec in the clinics. I guess I am just wondering how competitive this program really is and some insight on current students and what you think about the program.

Hi! I am applying to the FNP track as well, but I am direct entry. Do you mind if I ask why you were waitlisted? Did you apply by the priority deadline? I am just trying to get some insight on how competitive this program really is.
