  1. A student in our FB group just let us know that she withdrew from the program, so that should open up a spot for someone on the waitlist. Not sure when they would send any notification out though. Good luck! ?
  2. I contacted financial aid and they said our financial aid packages will be posted in SOLAR but not until mid-May. @BraveLego we do have a FB group! Search for Stony Brook ABSN Class of 2021
  3. @jess5 @slorte I was able to login by clicking "SOLAR account & password help" underneath the login. From there it gives you directions to reset your password. Maybe give that a shot? It took me one or two tries but it worked!
  4. @FitnessNurse I think those of us who received acceptances interviewed in the first week that interviews were available. I interviewed October 30th and received my acceptance yesterday. When did you interview? The email they sent out regarding the delay also mentioned that acceptances would begin mid-January and would continue until the end of the month. Maybe they're doing it that way? Hope that makes you feel a bit better!
  5. @NurseKote the deadline was extended to January 31st so that's a pretty significant amount of time if you get started now. Typically they don't allow you to take the TEAS more than twice in one admissions cycle. TEAS are only sent to school's that you choose. I would call Downstate's admissions office and speak with them to be sure, but I think it's definitely worth a shot.
  6. @NurseKote you should look into SUNY Downstate's accelerated program, they're a state school with similar tuition. I believe they extended the deadline. They require the TEAS though.
  7. @NurseDan yay congrats!! Knew you would.
  8. @adkhopeful2 Stony Brook is my top choice due to location and duration of the program. I'm from Nassau County and ideally I would like to work at a hospital on Long Island in the future. Stony Brook's program has more Long Island based clinical locations, whereas Downstate is primarily Brooklyn/NYC. The commute would be easier for me as well. I'd much rather drive and commute east than take the train and commute west. I used to work in Manhattan so I already despise the LIRR and will avoid at all costs. Additionally, Stony Brook is 12 months as opposed to Downstate's 15 months. Granted it's only a 3 month difference, but for me the sooner the better. These are both exceptional programs so I think choosing one over the other is more of a personal preference over anything else!
  9. @NurseDan that's so bizarre! I have a feeling they will reach out to you, it would be shocking for them not to with your grades and test scores. I noticed you're in the Stony Brook thread as well so hopefully we hear back from them soon! I'm still checking my email religiously even though they told us about the delay ?
  10. @NurseDan when did you submit your application? I'm wondering if they're processing applications based on when they received them. You and I have very similar credentials, but I submitted my application in very early September. Perhaps that could be a reason why, especially since they extended the deadline.
  11. From my understanding you cannot be accepted if you weren't selected to interview so that's why I'm like ???
  12. Didn't they only interview 160 applicants? (correct me if I'm wrong but that's what I remember). I'm surprised that the delay would be due to processing applications/documents if they can only choose from a pool of 160.
  13. On the undergraduate admissions website it says: "The Office of Undergraduate Admissions will be closed between December 25 and January 1. The Office will reopen on January 2." I'm assuming this pertains to the nursing school as well. I was hoping to hear something today but it looks like that's off the table ?
  14. Sounds like you fit all the criteria! They extended the deadline again so I wouldn't worry too much about it (easier said than done I know) they may be backed up with that as well as the holidays. Good luck to you!
  15. I got an 87% on my TEAS - 94% math, 92% english, 78% science (2 points under their "preferred" score but they still took it!) @LizzyHal nothing that will trip you up, basics like "why do you want to be a nurse, what qualities would make you a good nurse" etc. But also be prepared for questions that ask about a weakness or a time that was difficult. The questions aren't meant to trick you I felt like they genuinely just wanted to get a feel for you and get to know you better!
  16. The interview was very laid back, nothing to worry about just be yourself! The two women I interviewed with were great, they definitely make you feel comfortable and not like they're out to get you. There were two other candidates in my interview and we take turns answering questions. You do not answer the same questions as everyone else. What I also really liked about the interview was that they take your personal statement into account. I wrote about my experience teaching in Thailand and was surprised when they asked me more about that during the interview. To me, that means they take the time to really look into their candidates. The writing sample is not done on a computer so make sure you bring a pen/pencil. It's a short writing prompt. My stats are 3.57 undergrad GPA and 4.0 pre-req GPA. No prior healthcare experience, I graduated with my first bachelors in communications and journalism. Hope this helps!
  17. I hope everyone had a great holiday! I just received my acceptance email this morning. I hope everyone receives the good news as well ? best of luck to you guys!
  18. I interviewed at SUNY Downstate 2 weeks ago and just got an acceptance this morning. I wish Stony Brook had the same turnaround. Hopefully this week or next!!
  19. They didn't provide us with a specific date, but they said after we interview they turn in their paperwork and review almost immediately. They mentioned that the holiday's may delay the process, but I think maybe we can expect something in January.
  20. I was thinking the same thing! Maybe they just tell us January so we leave them alone lol. I have a feeling it will be before then but who knows.
  21. Two years ago they received decisions on December 28th, I hope we don't have to wait another 10 days -_-
  22. I was told at my interview that we could expect decisions the last week of December or first week of January. As much as I'd love to hear back next week, I have a feeling that's not the case. But hey, fingers crossed anyway.
  23. My app is completed but my math pre-req is pending, as I'm finishing it up this semester.
