  1. I honestly didn’t think I would get accepted since my undergrad was a 2.89, but I got a 4.0 in all of my science prereqs when I retook it later at a community college. I was accepted a month and half later after applying for this fall, but unfortunately had to withdraw my acceptance since I can’t go now. I think it depends on how many applicants apply and the space they have for it. Also, if you’re doing a lot better than when u did in undergrad. Doesn’t hurt to apply since all I paid for was a few bucks for my transcript to be submitted ? . Good luck!
  2. Hi, So I applied to Drexel for their ABSN program and was accepted to their Fall 20 cohort. They took my portage learning credit but I read somewhere in one of the Drexel forum that someone needed to retake Chemistry but their admission counselor said that they don't accept it, which was weird. When I applied in November, I just submitted my transcript from the portage learning site and it was received in my application status as "Geneva College". Maybe send the transcript in and see if they take it or not? I'm not sure if its a new thing or if it was just that person. I also applied to Gwynedd and they accept portage learning except for Organic Chemistry. Other schools such as Widener University, West Chester University and community colleges such as Montgomery Community College, Rowan Burlington College also took portage when I applied.
  3. I didn’t list it and just submitted my transcripts to the schools, and it showed as “Geneva College” when I checked my application status.
  4. Hi! I completed all of my stuff by Dec 12 and received my acceptance letter yesterday.
  5. Hi! Yes, I am waiting on Widener and Gwynedd Mercy. Honestly 11 month seems so intense so I'm a bit nervous. I also would like to compare the cost between other schools. I originally applied for fall 2021, but it seems that I was accepted for 2020. I am debating on whether I should just go for it or ask them to push my term for next, if possible.
  6. Just got my acceptance letter today for fall 2020! I'm not sure if I'm going or not but I was excited to see that I was accepted! Congrats to those who got in as well!!
  7. It is literally the exact questions but picked randomly from all of the exams.
  8. That doesn’t make sense. I applied for Fall 2021 and my Portage Learning transcript came in as under “Geneva college”. There’s even a video of a Drexel ace grad who had taken portage learning classes in the link below. So weird but good luck to you in the fall! I can’t wait to see if I get accepted to here or a few other choices. https://portagelearning.com/schools
  9. Hi! This is a late response since I was looking into Drexel Ace forums, but have you tried portage learning? It's self-paced and I know it's already mid-December so Idk if you could finish it by next month but I have completed courses in a little over a month with them to complete my prereqs.
  10. I am applying to the Center City location. Just need to do Organic Chemistry as my last prereq and thinking of doing Fall 2020 instead of May. The only thing is that I hear that Bensalem is the better option but Center City is closer to me. Which one did you apply to?
  11. Hi! Congrats!! How was the interviewing process and how long did it last? I am thinking of applying here. My #1 school is Gwynedd but I want to apply to a few other schools so I can have a few options.
  12. This is true. Just make sure the school you are applying to accept online core classes. I had a few schools who didn't accept online courses because of the virtual lab. I completed the majority of my core classes at portage learning for the school that I'm applying to (Gwynedd Mercy), the only course they didn't accept online is organic chemistry. Also, this is for the ABSN program. I think I've read somewhere online that they don't accept online courses for the regular 4 year program though but will for the ABSN? Didn't look too further into it since I'm doing the ABSN. ?
  13. Just wanted to give an update on my portage learning courses. After I completed my AP1 at the beginning of Sept, I ended up purchasing Nutrition, Micro and APII right after. In the beginning I felt a little overwhelmed with trying to consume all of the information all at once, so I decided that I would just start with Nutrition and Micro first, and ended up getting both A's for the courses. Nutrition took about 7 weeks to complete because I had just given birth at the end of Sept and so I was trying to adjust to motherhood. After taking a week and a half off to focus on the baby, I finally decided to dive into Nutrition. At first I started off bad in Nutrition because I didn't do too well on my case study (17/30), but after I got an understanding of what was being asked, it got easier for me throughout the course. Micro took me 8 weeks to complete and is a lot easier than AP btw. The labs were much shorter compared to AP so I completed the labs much faster too. I also found it more interesting compared to AP. Lastly, I saved APII for last because of the amount of information they give you for the first module. There's about 11 pages to go through and it's formatted differently compared to AP1, since the questions were at the bottom of each page instead of at the end. I didn't like it at first but as I wrote the answers out for each page, went back and reread the page, then read the questions with the answers, it helped me get a better understanding of it. The labs for AP2 are much longer compared to AP1 (about 44mins to an hr), so it was kind of annoying to constantly pause and write notes. Took me about a day or 2 to just write notes since I would try to do as much as I could before the baby woke up. Overall, it was interesting but definitely much harder than AP1. I'm just waiting for my professor to grade my final but I have an 98% for the course so far. Good luck with everyone taking the courses! This is my 2nd time taking these classes after many years so I wanted to get all A's this time around. Also, with being on maternity leave I had the time to read and study while the hubby watched the baby, or while she slept? ...but it was still hard to do anything with a newborn lol.
  14. I started college kind of the same way. I didn't know what I wanted to do and when I did decide on nursing, I didn't really try that hard to get A's in my courses. I had a few A's, B's and C's and then later realized that my grades probably wouldn't cut it to be accepted into a nursing program. I eventually changed majors and now have a BS in HIM. I've been working in this field for a few years now and the salary isn't bad, but I'm just not satisfied with what I do. Now I'm retaking my prerequisites that had expired and working 10x harder to get A's because I really want it this time. As of right now I'm finishing up my AP1 course and so far have a 95% average in the class. So to save yourself thousands of dollars from getting a BS you're not really sure about, look into other programs in your area, the prereqs that are needed and the GPAs that they want to be considered into the program. Then speak with an advisor at a community college and see what is required to get into that nursing program, in either that school or other schools (many community colleges have transfer programs that they are contracted with). When you start off at a community college, your GPA gets erased and you get to start off fresh. Find out the reason why you're not doing well in your classes. Maybe you're taking too many courses at once and can't keep up the workload, or maybe you need to change your studying habits. AP1 and 2 requires a lot of memorization, so when I took it the first time around, I went to a quiet cafe and sat down and read my note cards over and over again for hours until it stuck. Since you're only in your first year of university, I'm assuming you're still fairly young and have plenty of time (forgive me if I'm wrong). I know people who are entering nursing school in their late 20's, 30s and even 40s. It's all about how focused and determine you want it. If you get distracted easily or feel the need to hang out instead of studying, then you need to change that. Nursing required a lot of time and only putting in the bare minimum won't cut it. Also, I found youtube videos of nursing students very motivating. They give you an insight of how they did in school to get where they are now. I have about 4 classes to retake and plan on applying to be in the nursing program for next fall. Good luck with everything and remember, if you really want it then it will happen!
  15. Same! But now with a baby on the way, I'm going to wait until maybe next Fall to apply. Good luck with everything!
