  1. I definitely do. They “strongly” recommend it in their profile for applicants. 5/6 people interviewing in my group had either healthcare experience by means of employment or volunteer hours. I’ll also say that while their interview questions are not directly asking about your personal experience working in healthcare/with patients, I think it was very beneficial for us to be able to answer questions by telling stories of our experiences working with patients, under doctors, beside nurses, etc.
  2. (Accepted) Prerequisite GPA was 4.0, last 60 units GPA was 3.86, cumulative GPA was low and floated around 3.0-3.2 depending on if they counted my original grades for some classes I retook. Over 2,000 hours working as a CNA at a magnet hospital in the area as well as solid letters of recommendation. I felt very confident in my admissions essay. As for the interview, I feel like I had a couple hiccups but overall was able to show them who I was and what I had to offer. Hope this helps.
  3. Found out this morning that I was accepted into my #1 choice program here in California. Just emailed Regis forfeiting my spot in their cohort for the Spring. Hope this gives hope to whoever is on the waitlist! Best of luck everyone.
  4. Congrats everyone!! I was just accepted as well!
  5. I’m in the exact same boat as you, LOL. Hoping we hear back before the deposit is due. Edit: Just saw your post about Regis being your other school! I was also accepted into Regis’ program in Denver LOL!
  6. Just heard back from Regis. I got in! My stats were cum 3.0, last 60 units 3.86, science prerequisites 4.0, just shy of 1.5 years CNA experience. Hope this inspires some with lower cumulative GPAs to apply and give it their best. Edit: I received my acceptance notification via phone call. It is one gentleman calling all 100 people individually, so expect it may take some time.
  7. Did Cody call you or send you an email?
  8. Haven’t heard anything yet either. Fingers crossed!
  9. Quick question: was it also about 6 people in your group as well?
  10. Thanks everybody for the updates. You didn't have to, and its very much appreciated. Good luck everyone.
  11. @CBShiro I was thinking the same thing, but I don't know how to make sure the photo is just 600 pixels and the email seems pretty strict on formatting. Oh well, probably overthinking it, LOL.
  12. I received an invitation to interview as well! I'm 8am on the 17th :). Question: the 2"x2" photo that we need to include in our confirmation email back should be like a 2"x2" from walgreens/CVS photo or something? I'm a little confused on that. My stats were cum 3.2 (last 60 units 3.86), science prereqs 4.0, about 2 years CNA experience in a magnet hospital with some pretty solid letters of recommendation.
  13. So I'm guessing (hoping xD) nobody has heard anything yet?
  14. Hey! Just finished my application. Working on getting transcripts sent over. Do you know around when they get back to us with decisions? Additionally, does anyone know what the weekly schedule looks like? Like what days were in class and from how long? I haven't been able to find any information about schedules, etc.
  15. I definitely interpreted it as one essay that was 2-4 pages max. That is what I wrote and turned in. They receive so many applicants, I just don't think it's feasible for them to read such extensive essays. "The complete essay should be at least 2 pages, no more than 4 pages." This is taken from the prompt. I think if it were referring to each essay question receiving its own 2-4 pages, it would say the complete ESSAYS... or something along those lines. I wasn't an english major but thats what I would guess.
  16. Hey! I sent everything in pdf form to that email they provided us, aside from transcripts & LOR (they have their own page that you link to your references for them to fill out).
  17. Hey everyone! Also just finished submitting all of my supporting documents for my application. Really hoping I get in to this program. From what I've read from past applicants on different threads, the interview questions seem to be just questions that are meant to get to know you. I've heard that they're not really questions that you can prepare for. Excited to be on this journey with you all. Best of luck to us! ** also, IDK if anyone else is like me and needs to know when they should be expecting updates/invites/acceptance notifications but from what I can see from last years Fall Cohort: July 2nd: Invitations for interviews were emailed out. July 10th & 11th: Interview dates. July 22nd: Acceptance/waitlist emails were sent out. I also added a document that is the "2020 ABSN Application-Graduation Timeline." You can see the dates were a bit off from what actually occurred in 2020, so I expect that these dates can fluctuate. ABSN-Timeline-AY2019-2020.pdf
  18. Hi y'all, I'm currently finishing up my last few science prereqs and am looking at programs in my area for my ABSN degree. Originally, I was told by an RN to steer clear of private schools like WCU, not just because of the pricing, but because as an applicant, the hiring manager will "always choose the public education applicant." I recently began working as a CNA at a very reputable hospital in the SoCal area and was incredibly surprised to find that 95% of the RNs I have met are all about my age and actually received their education from WCU or AUHS - both private, and expensive, schools. A friend of mine also works at Kaiser and said the same thing about their new hires. I'm beginning to lean towards a program like AUHS due to the fact that its guaranteed admission and I won't be placed on a waiting list like many schools in my area. At this point, I am willing to sacrifice the extra $$ in loans if it means I can begin my nursing education sooner. I'm getting to the age that I need to start making moves in regards to my career. Anywho, I was curious as to what y'alls advice was on this? Have you noticed any preferential treatment in regards to hiring (or not hiring) from certain schools? Oh! A follow up question, I do plan on getting my masters at some point in the future as well.. will these schools effect my chances of getting into a decent MSN program? Thanks, Dylan
  19. Thank you. Hearing that has me feeling a bit more confident.
  20. Hey everybody. A little background on my situation: I graduated with my BA last December. After some reflecting and looking at my options, I decided that I wanted to pursue an ABSN. I'm only just beginning my prerequisites (sciences, everything else is complete), and I am worried a bit about my GPA. I attended a community college out of high school and managed to stack up a bunch of Cs on my transcripts. When I transferred to my four year university, I kicked it into gear and made president's list and dean's list most semesters. My GPA for my 4 year uni is a 3.5, however my cumulative GPA with community college transcripts is just over a 3.0. I know many of the public universities in my area are extremely competitive (I'm based in the LA area), and I am curious as to what y'all think my best options are? I plan on acing all of my science prerequisites because I know I will need to stand out as much as possible. I also have plans to become CNA certified in September and begin working in the medical field ASAP to garner experience over the next year or two while I finish my prereq's and begin applying to programs. My goal would be to get accepted into CSUN's ABSN program, but any other options that y'all think may be more realistic? Grand Canyon University is online and has clinicals based in LA, and has decent reviews, but I was hoping to have a physical classroom environment for my nursing program. Any advice or thoughts are greatly appreciated.
