I can't find another nursing job
Hello, I need advice from any seasoned nurses. I am a med surg nurse with 19 months of experience. I started as a new grad in the unit. I resigned from my position because med surg wasn't a good fit for my personality. I like routine and outpatient care . However it's been hard for me to find another nursing job in my area because I live in a small town. I don't want to leave the area because I live with my partner whom I absolutely love and I don't want to leave him. Should I just take a non nursing job in the meantime until I get a nursing job? Would it look bad for hospitals or healthcare companies if I work as a patient access representative as a nurse for the time being?

CSUSM ABSN Summer 2021
Thanks so much for the info! Yeah I am definitely retaking my TEAS. I am currently studying for it. My goal is to score at least 90% or above. I am considering schools out of state and ELM programs such as JHU and USD but those are ridiculously expensive but I am applying anyway. I feel so discouraged and I am a CSUSM alumni but I might not get into my own alma matter ? I am sorry for the rant but I can't see myself doing anything other than nursing. My plan B is going overseas or out of state. It's ridiculous that CA has a shortage of nurses and yet it is still so hard to get in! Kudos to everyone that got into a CA program! You guys rock!

CSUSM ABSN Summer 2021
Hey guys! I originally applied for fall 2020 in march but my application got pushed back. I got 24 points because well my TEAS score was low. I got a 76.7% and my pre nursing GPA was a 3.35. I hope at least to be accepted into Summer 2021 and Spring is super competitive. I haven't received an admissions decision yet, has anyone else?

Stony Brook ABSN 2021
Hey!! That is really devastating and frustrating to hear but you shouldn't listen to what people tell you. You can do anything you set your mind to and don't be discouraged! I had a counselor tell me to change majors because nursing was "too hard" and that I wouldn't make it. My nursing GPA is not super high but I'm still applying anyway. Honestly just go for it, its an automatic no if you don't apply.

Johns Hopkins Entry into Nursing (MSN) Spring 2021
Hi bottman, First off, I loved reading your input for the application process at Johns Hopkins University. JHU is my first choice because I love how they value world experience and how they see their students as a whole person and not a number. I have a pretty solid GPA but I do have patterns of Ws on my transcript. I'm worried that it might be a red flag for JHU but in the end I did end up finishing those classes that I withdrew from with good grades. Are W's frowned upon at JHU? Would I be disqualified? I have hospital volunteer experience and I studied abroad in Spain last Summer. Im having trouble with the multiculturalism question. What do they mean by "core values" ? Exactly what are they looking for in an applicant? If anyone else has input please respond to my comment. Good luck everyone!!

ABSN vs Direct Entry Masters Program.
I heard the difference lies in your career goals. Watch Nurse Liz on Youtube. She does a great job explaining the difference between Direct entry MSN and ABSN. If you're set on becoming a nurse practitioner or any APRN then the MSN program will save you time and money towards a DNP or post masters certificate. The ABSN is geared towards students just interested in the field of nursing without any specialty. It really depends on what you want to do though. Personally, I don't want two bachelors degrees because then I would feel like my first bachelors was a waste of time and money. I would rather have a Master's degree at this point in time.

Johns Hopkins Entry into Nursing (MSN) Spring 2021
Hi everyone! My name is Marlie, and I'm applying to JHU for Spring 2021! My journey started six years ago as a freshman when I decided to be a nurse. I live in California and programs here are pretty competitive. I just graduated with a bachelor's degree in human development and Johns Hopkins is my absolute dream school!! I'm looking forward to being challenged and hopefully be accepted into their nursing program!!:)

CSUSM ABSN FALL 2020
Hi! I applied for Fall 2020 and I just submitted my updated transcript with my last prerequisite course. I am a proud CSUSM alumni and I really want to attend their nursing program because I live so close and I can save money. But my pre-req GPA is a bit low (3.50) because I got a C in English. Im worried that they will not accept me for Spring 2021. I would be devastated but Im hopeful that I will land a spot. Im also hoping to retake my TEAS. Any study material that you guys recommend? Thanks!
