  1. Hello, I need advice from any seasoned nurses. I am a med surg nurse with 19 months of experience. I started as a new grad in the unit. I resigned from my position because med surg wasn't a good fit for my personality. I like routine and outpatient care . However it's been hard for me to find another nursing job in my area because I live in a small town. I don't want to leave the area because I live with my partner whom I absolutely love and I don't want to leave him. Should I just take a non nursing job in the meantime until I get a nursing job? Would it look bad for hospitals or healthcare companies if I work as a patient access representative as a nurse for the time being?
  2. Thanks everyone! I start the program at Downers Grove but I need advice on where to look for apartments. Anybody at the downers grove campus that has looked at apartments ? Or advice on where to look?
  3. Just got accepted! Im so excited to meet everyone!! Congrats on everyone that got accepted!!
  4. I got my ID too and financial aid info but still waiting for a decision.
  5. Ahh!! I really hope so!! I haven't heard anything yet but fingers crossed!! It's my top school!!
  6. I got the same thing!! I don't know what that means though. Anyone know if its an admission descion??
  7. Hi! I am applying to NYU as well, did you guys do transcript entry on the common app? Is it required? Also did you guys send transcripts to the email on the website or through the common app?
  8. Hi! I also applied for the Downers Grove location and I am waiting for my admission status.
  9. Hi guys! Did any of you do the professional transcript entry option? I paid for it only because I do not want to make any errors on my transcript. Not sure how it works though. Also Im anxious because its getting close to the deadline!
  10. Hey everyone! I'm Marlie and Im from SoCal. I was a human development major and I'm applying for Spring 2021 as well! I am very excited but also nervous because nursing schools are competitive but I hope I end up getting accepted! I have family in Chicago so I am really excited to be applying.
  11. Oh hey guys! My essays were over 300 words....is JHU very strict on word count?
  12. Thanks so much for the info! Yeah I am definitely retaking my TEAS. I am currently studying for it. My goal is to score at least 90% or above. I am considering schools out of state and ELM programs such as JHU and USD but those are ridiculously expensive but I am applying anyway. I feel so discouraged and I am a CSUSM alumni but I might not get into my own alma matter ? I am sorry for the rant but I can't see myself doing anything other than nursing. My plan B is going overseas or out of state. It's ridiculous that CA has a shortage of nurses and yet it is still so hard to get in! Kudos to everyone that got into a CA program! You guys rock!
  13. Hey guys! I originally applied for fall 2020 in march but my application got pushed back. I got 24 points because well my TEAS score was low. I got a 76.7% and my pre nursing GPA was a 3.35. I hope at least to be accepted into Summer 2021 and Spring is super competitive. I haven't received an admissions decision yet, has anyone else?
  14. Hey!! That is really devastating and frustrating to hear but you shouldn't listen to what people tell you. You can do anything you set your mind to and don't be discouraged! I had a counselor tell me to change majors because nursing was "too hard" and that I wouldn't make it. My nursing GPA is not super high but I'm still applying anyway. Honestly just go for it, its an automatic no if you don't apply.
  15. Hi everyone! I'm applying for Stony Brook for Spring 2021. I am from Southern California and I graduated with my bachelor's degree in May. What drew me to Stony Brook was their tuition rate and the fact that the program is only 12 months! I'm nervous but excited!
