New Grad Starting In Veterans Affairs (VA) Hospital
Just graduated from nursing school and going to be starting at a Veterans Affairs (VA) Hospital in Texas very soon. That being said, to all you seasoned VA nurses of Allnurses... what do I need to know about working at the VA? Tips? Things that you wish someone told you when you started? Tips for transferring to another VA Hospital elsewhere in the future?

UTHSCSA Fall 2019
@UG16 If you have to start/restart the series, they told me as long as you have your first dose documented before the deadline you can register for classes. You'll still need to get the rest of the doses when they need to be done.

2nd year nursing student in the Philippines
I would contact the schools you are looking at and get in touch with an academic advisor who can take a look at the courses you've taken and see if the credits would even transfer from your school in the Philippines. Make sure to take a look at the pre-requisites for the program(s) you are looking to transfer to in the US as well to ensure you're not lacking any, the academic advisor can point you in right direction on where you can take classes if you are missing any. Once you get all that squared away, make sure you get all documentation (transcripts, maybe letters of recommendation, etc.) requested ASAP because it could take months for all that to be received in the US.

UTHSCSA Fall 2019
@kciena24 Hoping they get back to us by the 15th though, cause I'm sure some of us have seats held in other programs just in case we don't get into UTHSCSA... I'm supposed to pay for summer classes for another program starting April 22nd... soooo I cry lol

UTHSCSA Fall 2019
@kciena24 I am soo sooooo eager to hear back... interview process was ok, I feel like I did fine but wasn't a big fan of it not being live. Kinda awkward seeing yourself on the screen and being nervous at the same time lol.

So far, those who have been invited to interview were sent an email to do so almost 2 weeks ago. We're now waiting to hear back our decisions. Supposed to hear back by April 15th.

Concordia Texas ABSN Fall 2019
I’ll keep you updated! I’m still waiting on a decision from another nursing program so I’m not 100% sure yet if I’ll be committing to Concordia!

Concordia Texas ABSN Fall 2019
Concordia U itself is in North Austin but our classes will be in downtown in the Clinical Education Center for the most part. We don’t have to go to North Austin since we’re accelerated and the theory classes are done online. This is what my advisor told me. Only rarely would we have to be on main campus, usually if there’s a room change or we need to meet with a professor.

Concordia Texas ABSN Fall 2019
I am considering looking for a roommate as well! Living in Austin can be a bit pricey. My advisor says she recommends her students to live near downtown or between downtown and North Austin because pretty much all our classes will be in downtown Austin!

Associates if I don't get into a BSN program?
Oops I should have done my research. Disregard the LVN/LPN mention. Hope this clarifies: My ultimate goal is to have a BSN. I've just been overthinking the competitiveness of the BSN programs I applied to. I want to say my grades are fine, 3.5 GPA with 86.9 on TEAS, but could be better. And in case of things not going my way, I wanted to seek advice and see if going the ASN to RN then to eventually BSN route is a path worth considering too (since it seems a little long-winded). Or just keep on trying for those BSN programs?

Associates if I don't get into a BSN program?
Hey y'all, In the event that I do not get into a BSN program, should I consider applying to an Associates of Applied Science in Nursing program (2 years just like most BSN programs) as a backup or give some more time to volunteer more or improve grades? I'm currently a junior and not sure if it's worth having an associates to become an LVN/LPN then RN sooner then do accelerated BSN or wait to secure the bag with a BSN. Thanks!

Not being considered because of a C- in English...
Hey guys, So I was wondering why I hadn't received any general emails from a nursing school I applied to regarding decision dates... and it turns out that I am not being considered because of a C- I made my freshman year in English Composition II. I received a response back from the school saying that "candidates need a C or better in the class". Just needed to vent but also wondering if there's really anything I can/should do about it in terms of reaching out to the school. My GPA is good, TEAS score is good, but just a little disappointed that this little thing set me back. I am a lot more capable than the C- I made in that class
