I can't speak for the Tulsa campus, it is a smaller cohort, so I don't know about their stats (I don't know a lot about ours either- mine weren't too different from yours and I got in not as an alternate or waitlist- there are several people in our cohort that were alternates or waitlist people) I would think you're a relatively competitive candidate, especially since your prereqs are mostly done. I'm enjoying the program, it's very busy but doable. I feel like for the most part the professors really care and want us to become nurses and want to help get us there. People in our cohort have all kinds of backgrounds. Good luck, let me know if you have any other specific questions. I don't know what your application process deadlines and stuff look like this year but it was a tight turn around from the end of March to starting in June, which I thought was a pain. But, just be patient.

Oh jeez- yeah- we get 2 1/2 weeks before the start of the term. Maybe I’ll call in the next week or so if we don’t get more info soon.

Okc- when is tulsa’s Orientation? Okc isn’t until May 15

Has anyone gotten any other additional information yet? I’ve gotten my Ouhsc email set up but no further instructions from the college of nursing. And nothing on the self service “to do” list- except the application fee. So for the time being I’m just working from the list on the orientation page and holding on to documents until we get more information.

Amador301 - you’re going to OKC and moving here? If you end up on the North/Northwest side of town and are interested in carpooling- I’d love that. Haha.

Are you not even waitlisted? They specifically say you’re not required to have the coursework complete at the time of application. That’s so frustrating. I’m sorry.

My status on nursingcas and Ouhsc’s status are unchanged. Be sure to check your junk mailbox. Also- the email is sent to the email you provided on the nursingcas application. If that helps. If don’t hear anything today you might consider giving them a call tomorrow.

You probably could if it’s a renewal. It’s supposed to be a American Heart Association BLS class.

I heard back from my contact that i have in the program, she said that there is an emphasis on dressing for first impressions but that a lot of people just wear jeans or leggings to class. There are days when they’re instructed to wear scrubs or an OU polo that you can purchase, and always scrubs to clinicals. And she said there are some occasions where they’re asked to dress in business attire. Hope that helps!

I don’t know about clothes- I imagine it’s just casual for class and scrubs for clinicals. I have gotten into contact with someone in the program right now and I’ll ask her. I just got a jury summons so I emailed and asked about when Orientation might be and was told May 15. She also said she expects decisions to be put by the end of the week (knock on wood). The person I’ve chatted with that’s in the program also mentioned the things on the college of nursing’s orientation page- info about CPR classes, vaccinations, computer requirements- things to think about if you’re trying to start to get things together. I went ahead and registered for a CPR class on friday. I figure if I don’t get in-it doesn’t hurt to have. Trying to be patient!!!

Me too! I’m trying really hard not to check my email every 5 minutes. She did say that notification would come by email, first from nursingcas and then from OUHSC. My status also just says “verified”. There’s also a way to check status on OUHSC’s website and mine there just says “pending”. I have no idea of the status will change at all or when. Since they only go off of GPA, you’d think it would be a pretty straight forward process. Makes me wonder how many applications they get.

But yes! Waiting until April only gives people 2 months to make preparations in their lives. Money, kids, family, vacations...there is a lot up in the air.

I would think so. I have to say the person that said within the next week, asked if I had checked my nursingcas account (nothing has changed). But she seemed to be surprised that we hadn’t heard yet, but mentioned she’d been out of the office too. She seemed to be the most “in the know”, while the others seemed to just be repeating what they’ve been told. That being said, I don’t think I’ll call again until the 15th.

ok my friends, I made some phone calls today because and I called three different people because I like data. The answers I got were: between mid March and early April, in the next 5-6 days, and the 2nd or 3rd week of March. So there you have it. Sometime this week or maybe not until April. ?‍♀️

Anyone else have kids? I’m starting to stress a little about missing out on 2 summers with my kids with no breaks.

I minored in chemistry and felt like that in all of my chem classes.

I’m certainly not trying to downplay haleyreeces’ experience, but someone had asked about people’s experiences in the thread from last year and this was the response that was posted from someone else that’s currently in the program: “In terms of general information about my experience so far, the program is very doable. We're finishing up what seems like the actual science-behind-nursing classes right now: pharmacology and acute and chronic. It's humbling and it takes up much of your time, but if you're willing to work, most everyone will be able to get through the program. The majority of the faculty and staff are there to help you succeed with only a few there to just collect paychecks. The workload isn't too insanely difficult but managing time is of the utmost importance. Your peers are your best friends throughout the program. You spend a lot of time together. Clinicals have been by far the best experience because for me, I came from a business background and just being in the middle of a health care setting has been very fun. After only 7 months, we're halfway there to being nurses which is fun, exciting and terrifying. You'll understand why this time next year.” Everyone has their own perspective and I think it’s important to move forward not expecting things to be perfect but hopefully we can have a good attitude and make it the best experience for each of us! I’m trying to keep this positive outlook, anyway.

Well, looking at the thread from last year, I’m gathering that people that had their pre-req’s done definitely had an edge. And I would say lots of them had at least 3.5 GPA. But I think it also depends on the GPA’s of other people applying. All my sciences were done at university level but I did do some of the gen ed pre req’s (history and eng comp) at a community college for financial reasons. Last 60: 3.7 Science: 4.0 Cumulative: 3.6

The FAQ on the website says decisions are released by mid March. That’s so far away. Hopefully they’ll come out earlier. I tried calling but it keeps going to voicemail. Maybe lots of people are calling? ? Where is everybody applying? I’m only applying to OKC... I know- eggs all in one basket- but we have three kids in Edmond Schools and don’t want to relocate for this. There will have to be some some serious soul-searching happening if I don’t get in.

Did someone hear the first week of February from the school? I thought in previous years the deadline was 10/15, and from last year’s thread they didn’t seem find out until the first or second week of December. So as much as I’m anxiously waiting, I’m not planning on anything until March. Cberry- I realize you’re still working on prerequisites, but you sound like a strong candidate! Good luck!
