  1. Hi everyone. I have not posted in a while. Medmic, A&P2, and my job are keeping me busy. But thank God I am almost done. I just finished med mic lab practical this morning and also last lecture test in A&P. The lab practical was tough, we saw a little bit of everything from parts of microscope, to antimicrobial testing(zone diameter measurement), to M/O under the microscope and then the different selective and differential media and the gram neg flowchart and the the diff media that go with it and coagulase test and so on. Phew! We had 16 stations and 50 questions. I am doing well in A&P2 I have a high A. but man oh man in med mic i am strugling. I got an A on the first lecture test but from then on i'd been getting Bs and most of the class is getting C's and Ds( we had 4 tests so far). The prof is hard. He says if it's in the book then it's just fair that he could put it on the exam. He does have web notes but very general. Each exam is comprised of 4 chapters. A&P2 just comes easier for me I guess than Med mic. A lot lot more stuff in medmic. BUt I enjoy the medmic lab though. I have an A avg and I think I did pretty well on the lab practical. BUt I calculated my grade and even if I make a perfect score(yea right, I doubt that I would even make an A) on the final I still would not get an A. Guess a B will do, but who does not want an A. I read the other posts and well done for all of you who are getting A's in Med mic. It's a difficult class. And good luck to all of us. I know for some of us the final is just around the corner. Hang in there. I am. Hi. Hope this helps. MSA is selective for gram+ bacteria which means only gram+ ones will grow on the media. It's differential because it differentiates between pathogenic staph aureus and non-pathogeninc staph epi.
  2. I guess it's ok if he's pretty difficult as long as he's fair and not out to get the students. For A&P 1 I had Dr. ********. He's new. He's good also. I"ll have him for AP2 again. I really don't have a lot of choice. They're the only ones that's going to fit in my schedule. You're right about not working and just concentrate on your studies. I hear that you have to keep a pretty high grade and some people I heard even got kicked out of the program because of low or failing grade? not sure if it's this year or previous ones. No comprehensive finals? Is it just with Dr. ***** Med Micro? Cuz we had comprehensive on anatomy. Well that will be really good then if we don't have to study tons and tons of materials and just concentrate on the last chapters. ****Instructor's names edited from post******
  3. Hi. Wow, sounds like your sched was pretty hectic. DO you work too? Do you recommend working while going to nursing school? I imagine it's going to be hard because of the long hours you put in school, especially the clinicals. oh, I called the school friday and asked about next year's (2007) nursing program. She said there will be 50 seats also here at ATC campus open but they are making changes, not sure which areas. That's why I am going to attend the nursing info session on Jan 9th. She told me that last year nobody got in with NLN score below 85. She also said that some people with 90s and high 80s did not get in because of low GPA. WOW I am really worried now because I did not make a very high score on my NLN. I am just counting on my GPA now. SHe also said it depends on the competition next year. I really hope I get in. I have the same teacher for AP2. He's good, so I am ok with that. Not sure how my Med Mic teacher is going to be like. His name is Dr. *****. Sounds familiar? oh, you're in Gwinnett campus. Good luck on your next term. Sounds busier than the first :) Happy holidays. ***Instructor's name edited from post******
  4. The COmmuter, Thank you for answering my questions. :)
  5. Hello All. I am just taking my pre-reqs right now and hoping to get in the nursing program in fall 2006 and yet I am already worried about the NCLEX. I don't know much about it. What kind of test is it? And what is the passing score? And how do you study for it? It's a board exam right? ANyway, to all that's going to be taking the NCLEX, I wish you all the best. :)
  6. Hello. I am taking Micro too in Jan and also A&P2. I know it's going to be hard :stone But I need to finish both of them by April If I want to be considered for Fall 06 nursing. They are my last pre-reqs. Good luck to all of us. I have no Idea what my MIcro prof would be like But I have the same prof from A&P1 teaching A&P2. He's really good. :)
  7. WONDERFUL! Congratulations Keep the good work :)
  8. Thanks for the response. I'll try and locate ************ I just finished mat 191, AP I and human growth and Phys. and I received As in all 3 classes so maybe that could also up my GPA. :) I know it will be difficult to take Med Mic and AP2 at the same time also because they both have labs and you know that lab is like a whole other class. But they need all the 5 core classes by April 1st of 2006 and I really want to be able to start nursing classes the same year. WOW this is so stressful. Having a full time job does not help well, it helps pay the bills :chuckle that's it. :) OH, how was your first nursing course :) ? I saw the schedule - 6:30 am til 3:30 PM? was it really that long? Thanks again.
  9. Hello. How are you all doing? I am new to this board. I also go to ATC and I just took my NLN exam last Dec. 2nd. PHEW! Glad this qtr is over. I have 2 more pre-reqs left, Med-mic and A&P2. AtlantaKellie I read on your post that there were only 52 seats available? WOW. Pretty competitive. I got my NLN score back and my COmposite Percentile Score under AD is 77% I am kinda disaapointed at myself cuz I really wanted to do better than that. But my GPA is pretty good. I have 3.77 Currently. WHat do you think are my chances of getting in the ADN program for fall 2006? I've already submmitted my application and they said they make admission decisions around April. What a long wait. OH well. Thanks. Best wishes. Kelly
