Am I being short sighted? Advice on employment needed
I think try to stick it out longer while you look for a better position. But since your not very busy maybe you can do online classes? Or possibly even start a business on the side?

Non bedside nursing Option ... and a side question bout Nails?
Yeah there's plenty of jobs that are not bedside. I used to work as a nurse auditor for an insurance company and basically we would just come into the hospitals and audit them to make sure they following proper protocols. Meanwhile there are also positions with some insurance companies that actually let you work from home which is amazing. Also there's none beside nursing jobs such as allergy testing for environmental and food allergies. But unfortunately the nails would have to go for that position. Bedside nursing is not really that great especially if your in medsurg.

How to know if nursing is the career for me?
Nursing has a lot of different fields in it and they are all very different. For example I used to work for an auditing agency straight out of nursing school. And my sole purpose was to go around and audit different facilities. Sort of a boring job but it was 9-5 and I got to travel a lot through the state and eat at a lot of different awesome places. Then I tried school nursing which was not a perfect fit because all day you have kids that are either trying to get out of class so they make symptoms up or you get someone serious whose having an asthma flare up. Also worked in a step down ICU, in the ER, on medsurg floors. Basically hospital nursing really varies. Because In some hospitals the doctors are amazing and the CNA's actually do their job and coming to work is great! But then there are other facilities where the CNA's just hide and the doctors are scared to write out prescriptions, or their is no doctors on night shift and only a PA that's worried about their license. But there's nurses that do home nursing and they love it!! There's others that work for big pharm companies, for insurance companies. It can all really vary because as a nurse you can go practically anywhere and have any type of shift and work in many different settings.

Nurses Side Hustles
Side hustles for nurses are very rare because usually need to work under a physician. But if you can get a physician to partner with then the possibilities are endless. Some ideas could be -allergy testing for seasonal and food allergies. - providing flu vaccines during flu season - starting a company that starts IV fluids for people that had a long night of drinking. There's a few companies like this in nyc and Vegas. That basically come to your party location in a van and start the party goers on IV fluids to help rehydrate and prevent from a massive hang over. -Botox injections - You can start a healthcare employment agency that helps find healthcare workers jobs and then you take a small percent from each pay check. - cpr courses to large corporations

New Grad hired in the ER, question.
Congratulations on the job!!! Hope it's going well. But I personally think it depends on the orientation, the hospital and the ER staff. If it's a lengthy orientation and the staff is great and helpful then it should be manageable. But if the orientation is less then3 months then maybe it's wise to reconsider and try i to get some experience in med surg first. I got a 3 month orientation in a step down unit and I could honestly say I didn't feel 100 percent confident going in. But the staff was super friendly and helpful whenever I have a question so I managed.

Is Picmonic Worth It?
I just tried Picmonic and honestly it's a great concept although it's a terrible way to study or memorize anything. The ECG course is so empty and barely has provides any information that would be useful in the field. Meanwhile the medication sections did not help me remember any meds. In my opinion it's better to put the meds into categories such as beta blockers, calcium channel blockers etc. and then Learn what they do.
