Pearsonvue Trick Is this TRUE? Does it work every time?
Hello Everyone, I have been lurking on this thread. I tool the NCLEX wednesday of this week and it shut off at 75 questions. I was freaking until Friday morning when I learned I had passed!!! I tried the Pearson Trick from 3 hours on and got the pop up of cant register for a test. A friend of mine who also took the NCLEX same day as me tried the trick as well. His test shut off at 76 questions and the Pearson "trick"worked for him as he passed as well! WHoohoo.. it did help keep me sane for those two days! THANKS EVERYoNE!!!

Stevenson University?
Very well said Jenny. I totally agree that you have to do what you need to do not to be " weak and unprepared". I think that is the approach students need to take. Bottom line, my philosophy regarding learning and even my professors during nursing school was they were there to help facillitate learning if I had a problem or if I was weak in an area help me to recognize it and point me to tools that could strengthen me as a student and a nurse. However, ultimately I am responsible for knowing the material and knowing it well.

Stevenson University?
I hear ya! I missed many nights of sleeping studying for exams but it was worth it! I pulled out an A and it was one of the hardest A's in my life! But the kicker is we are aspiring nurses...and nurse give medications. It scares me to think that there are nurses out there giving drugs to patients that they do not know the side effects etc for. I mean drugs change constantly so the onus lies on us to keep up our skills and knowledge for patient safety. So I can see the importance of passing Pharm! =D

Stevenson University?
I am graduating from Stevenson this semester (1 more test whoohoo). I loved it. I did the evening weekend option which was 33months. It was not a piece of cake as I have 2 kids, hubby and work. But I managed to get good grades and just took the NCLEX predictor test and scored a 99%. The program is excellent, classes small and professors really care about their students. However, we did lose quite a few about 20% of our class during the first two semesters. We lost a few others during the junior year when people took pharmacology. I would not say it is a weed out school however they do expect you to work and know the material. That should be expected as nurses we take care of human beings not machines. We should all be accountable for the material plus we need to pass the NCLEX anyway! So it just makes sense. Anyway, I loved the program, it is expensive but I do not regret attending! I do know people who go to Maryland. They like it and it is an incredibly hard program. I actually had the opportunity to study there over the summer through an externship and the facilities are phenonmenal. The professors are pretty strict but the students KNOW their stuff!! Great school! I do know people who have been weeded out there. THe classes are very large though and that was not appealing to me. If you have any more questions about Stevenson specifically feel free to PM me!! Good luck on all your endeavors!!! =)

Student Nurse Externship vs. Student Nurse Residency?
Hi Lonestar, I did this program this summer. The training and opportunities are excellent!!! You essentially are doing a practicum in the unit. You do the nurses job, preceptor one on one. They also offer additional training and special guest lecturers throughout the summer. By the end of the program I was doing everything the nurse does, putting in IVs, drawing blood, completing assements preparing meds doing all documentation, giving report etc in a critical care environment. I was hired at Hopkins and chose this opportunity instead due to the preceptor like opportunity. IT WAS EXCELLENT !! I would highly recommend this program to anyone who can get in. PM if yoiu have any questions! Good luck!

Question regarding CRNA practicein Community hospital vs Teaching hospital
Hello Everyone, I shadowed CRNA's in a community hospital where CRNA participated in general surgery's such as eye cases, orthopedics, etc. They were not allowed to provide anesthesia on cardiac patients or in neuro cases. Is there someone here who has worked at a large teaching hospital that could shed some light on the autonomy you experience or the types of cases you provide? For instance do you have clinical conferences in the morning and are you assigned more complex patients? I was just wondering if more emphasis is placed on education/research and if more autonomy is given. Thanks in advance!!

Just took NCLEXRN/ton of Sata
I am a senior nursing student and I dont want to give you guys false hope. But I can tell you that this semester 4 students who I spoke with who passed the NCLEX said for them they got a ton of Sata questions and the test shut off at 75. It became increasingly difficult which is why they believed they got those style questions. 2 others I knew failed after 200+ questions and they stated they didnt have alot of the Sata questions.... I am not sure what that all means but thought I would throw it out there... GOOD LUCK!!!!!!!!!!

Senior Nursing Student wants to take a team of nursing students to Haiti or DR
Hi everyone, Can anyone give me any advice on getting a team of nursing students together to do a short term service outreach. I am working with my school to try to organize something. Unfortunately, if I cant mobilize any faculty willing to go I dont know how we could be of much help without a RN. Does anyone having and advice on organizing or would you be interested in participating in a team? I have been to Haiti 2x before . I am non traditional student but am willing to mobilize the younger students if they want to go. Any advice, input or direction is much appreciated! Thanks in advance guys!

Give advice for new nursing students!!
DO NOT GET BEHIND!!!!!!!! Making friends with the organized, smart people is GREAT ADVICE!!! Seriously, though, stay on top of your assignments especially at the start of each semester because it gets heavy quickly. Good luck
