Hi Kpc36, I completed my CNA with AMTI 2 years ago. However, I think in general you should be fine. The only thing that may hinder you are the 12 hour clinical days. Hopefully they are during the weekends and it does not affect your work schedule. Good luck to you :)

Congratulations on beginning... I have a couple questions for you if you don't mind me asking. .. How long were you on the waitlist? What is the program schedule? Can you tell me as much as possible. I'm just curious seeing as the waitlist has dropped down to 6 months -1yr again. Thank you in advance ?

Hey there ! For those of you who bridged from LPN to RN. Did you complete your LPN at Gateway and then apply for the RN program? If so is there a wait between the two ? I'm interested in doing the LPN and bridging over. I just want some insight from someone who did the LPN then bridged over all while attending Gateway. Thank you in advance ?

I would still apply. If you were able to pass for the Fingerprint Clearance Card it may not be on your record like you think. Try first and be honest. You never know unless you try. Good Luck to you ❤

Thank you tonyl1234. That is what I have had an internal battle with thus far. I have decided to do just that try for LPN and RN programs ( at CC). While taking any and all the required pre/core courses that I may have to take. Within the last 6 months I tried everything I could to speed up this process and failed LOL. So, I am going with my first plan which is this.

I do. I am only missing the science courses. I figured the LPN program would be quicker. I still need to take 3 or 4 courses needed to apply for the RN. I just am so anxious and have no patience at all . I want to at least get on a waitlist while take the needed pre requisites.

I actually was moving forward with EVIT at one point. I backed out because the first time pass rate for NCLEX in 2017 was 54%. I also didn't want to get a high interest private loan and end up paying more. I'm back to my original plan which is waiting on the waitlist at a CC for LPN , taking my prereqs for RN (whichever comes first). So it'll be a while for me!!

Thank you everyone for your input. It helped tremendously. My final goal is to be a NICU Nurse. I completely quit everything. I work as a CNA (Rehabilitation) and stay home with my daughter during the week. I feel pressured because of my age 34. Including , I am trying to get done before my daughter starts kindergarten she is 2. I was thinking work as a LPN, take the sciences I need and bridge over to RN. I want to make sure the whole "not enough experience" factor does not come into play with this second career journey I am taking. As that has hindered me from progressing with my MHA degree. Everyone says get my RN and I agree but my finances, impatience, and indecisive is driving me nuts :/. Would working as a LPN while in school for my RN suffice for the 1 year experience the hospital requires as a new grad ? I just want to get out there, but smarter than what I did before with my Health Administration degrees. P.S. in regards to my math skills I am going to tutor sessions which have helped tremendously with the testing skills and test content. No shame in asking for help over here .. I need all the help I can get :)

I have been going back and forth with moving forward with an LPN program or an RN program. I previously completed my Bachelors and Masters in Health Administration. However, I have always wanted to work in the patient / clinical environment . My past 10 yrs of health administrative experience has yet to be in my beloved hospital I still dream of. My reason for this post is I am having the hardest time making a decision on which route to take. I was accepted into EVIT Jan 2019. I am partially excited because it is pretty pricey . Then there is the CC route and I did not score high enough on the math and have to wait until November to take the HESI again. Would it really be a waste of time to go the LPN program and later on to an RN bridge? What holds me back from applying to any RN program are the pre-req science courses... Any advice would help :)

Placement on the list and acceptance to actually begin are two different things. High Hesi scores are not always the case to bypass the long wait .. Anyways good luck to you. The wait will be worth it the end.

That's crazy. The advisor's should say a year or longer. I was told in May it was 9-12 months for the waitlist. However, I work with a RN who was on the RN waitlist. She was planning for 2yrs and only waited 5 months. So, I'm not sure how they are making the deciding factor on who is next...
