HRSA 2021-2022
Hi! I’ll share what I remember, I am in a nurse practitioner program so my BSN undergrad GPA was 3.8. My EFC was around 2400. I didn’t have a lot of experience with underserved populations but had an interest in working with them so I really discussed that on my apps, but you definitely don’t need a lot of experience to qualify, just a heart for it. I had been a nurse in two large hospitals that were not HRSA sites for three years prior to applying. So don’t get discouraged if you don’t have a lot of experience with underserved communities.

I hope you don’t think my post was directed towards anybody- I hadn’t even read the forum I just saw it existed and wanted to share my two cents. I absolutely think you should post and celebrate! How exciting. That is the blessing of this forum! I think posting those things is awesome. The point of my post is that people SHOULDNT get upset at your excitement or your success because theirs is probably coming too. I hope my post alleviates some stress and takes away some of that anxiety regarding others’ place in the process because everybody has their own timeline with this scholarship, it’s not linear whatsoever. Hope my post doesn’t make anybody feel like their success shouldn’t be shared. It was more to remind people that when others share their success, keep in mind that yours could be coming too ?

HRSA 2021-2022
Hi guys! I am a scholarship recipient from last year (if you’ve read last year’s thread I’m sure you have seen me freaking out LOL) and just wanted to say I know how you all feel and do not panic! I was freaking out because I didn’t get a credit check and for some reason I did but it was delayed on my statement and I didn’t see it for MONTHS after (when I had already received the scholarship), probably something to do with the free site I was using being delayed. But because other people were getting a credit check and I wasn’t I had convinced myself I wasn’t getting it and it was so upsetting! So don’t let those little things stress you out. Similarly, I was in either the 2nd or 3rd round of “signatures” from Jamie King (IDK if it’s still that person but probably). If you’ve read the original thread you know that a signature on your contract is essentially a guarantee that you got the scholarship because it means they are making your contract valid. It happened in like randomly three groups and each time was like a month apart! It was so stressful to see everybody on the forum talking about their signature with mine unsigned, but sure enough, almost a month later, I got mine. Basically I am making this point to say while this forum is a blessing and a great way to ask questions and talk, don’t take every little thing someone else gets that you don’t and overthink it or you will be miserable. I wasted so much time worrying and stressing over someone else’s credit check or someone else’s signature and got the same scholarship at the end of the day. I had written off getting the scholarship after the first round of signatures when I didn’t get mine because I had no idea there would be multiple rounds. Try not to over analyze it and just know I have faith in you and you’re gonna get it! Lmk if y’all have questions and good luck!

If you don’t have a counter signature I wouldn’t get discouraged. From what I can gather, everybody who has a counter signature only got it on two days. The first batch and then the second a few Friday’s ago. I’m sure they have another round coming, they just do it in these random spurts. Obviously I don’t know for certain but it’s more encouraging as opposed to them randomly cojntersigning a few every day for a period of time. I’m sure they have a lot on their plate and will focus on the scholarship at least one more day before the deadline in a whole month!

The way I see it is the contract which is a legally binding document states that the secretary will only sign the contracts of those who have been chosen to participate. In the first paragraph! Therefore I think it is super justified and valid to be excited about receiving a counter sign. That being said I think we all know it’s not official until the offer has been made but I think it’s fair to be excited that next step is official :)

From what I'm reading, only 3 people active on this forum have gotten a signature, and about 4 haven't or so. I was I believe the second day of finalist emails (Friday night) and I haven't either. That seems like a pretty low signature vs non-signature rate, so I'm sure they are just taking their time and there is no reason to stress! It seems crazy that there would only be like a 40% signature aka receiving rate amongst finalists, so I'm sure there is no method to the madness and we should all just wait it out!

Are we not supposed to put our work information? That’s what I interpreted. We don’t have the scholarships EIN or anything since we get that information from the W2. I was planning on putting my employer. Anybody have any thoughts? Or do you mean something different? I’m not super familiar with W4 so what’s the difference in how you filled it out?

Just FYI, I called because I am unable to get a School Seal/Stamp on my enrollment verification due to the registrar office working from home with the pandemic. She said they're aware and the seal will NOT be required this year. So don't worry if you can't get it ? I did the same thing...I'm going to wait until I'm officially accepted into the program and then investigate, because I too meet the criteria for Summer funding.

I received a finalist email last night as well! I'm curious if anybody knows how many people receive finalist emails vs receive the award. Is the finalist standard more of a formality to confirm interest and most people get the award or is there still a large cut to be made? If anybody knows...either way, congratulations to everybody!
