  1. Let me know if you have any questions about MCG. I am curious....why mercer?
  2. hey man, its like this.....Is this something that you really want to do? If you answered that emphatically YES, then don't give up. My GPA was not stellar. It was around 3.2 My GRE was 1040. My experience, reference and interview is what set me apart from the others. Determination, character and other qualities come in to play in the whole equation. The bell curve is equal. There are suttle things that set us all apart. Look good on paper, but be even better in person. My whole thing was like this, if I can get an interview then I am in. I am confindent in myself. Not cocky-confident. I was one of 100 applicants, One of 38 interviewed , and one of 12 accepted. My Point being this: Don't give up. I was hell bent on being an anesthetist and god willing in 24 more months I will. I got in with a decent GPA and ok GRE, Good Experience and GREAT references. I may not have the grades of a 4.0 undergrad. I had situations in life and some struggles, but you will not find anyone who will work harder than me to understand this material and succeed. You will find that you must harness the ability to manage time. Priority is a virtue as an anesthetist student. You will have more reading and more projects thrown on you than you can stand. Just when you think you can not read another page or do another powerpoint or paper......they add 3 more chapters, 2 more projects. Will it kill you? NO There are reasons why these programs are so hard to get in. Once you get in you will find out why. They must be good judges of people and ability. Things correlate to a certain degree (grades and ability) determination/drive is key. Do what you need to do to get the paper part situated. If you really want this...claim it dude. You really have to do a lot of sould searching before you embark on this career. You can hear a million times, " CRNA school is hard. It is the hardest thing you will ever do" That is true. It certainly is, but you can never appreciate what they are talking about until you actually walk through the fire yourself. Its ten time worse than they explained it to you. This is not meant to discourage you, but to motivate you to search your inner being. is this something you want to do? if so, be informed, be prepared! DD
  3. I am in my second week at MCG. So come back to me in a month or so LOL. It is a lot of work. A LOT OF WORK. Phish is on the money with her statement. I agree totally. The super big things are the interview and your references. They tell the tale.
  4. ryan, I have just done the same thing. I had a cardiology and a cardiology three for 10 yrs. I went ahead and went with the Master Cardiology (all black edition). I am very pleased with it. I got it from allheart.com I believe. They put my name on the tubing. It is pretty sweet. hope it helps oh, I also have a phillips electronic stethoscope as well. Its okay. DD
  5. i applied to 4 schools, got an interview at 3 of them. I did not go to my 3rd because I got accepted to my second interview. The interviewers at my first school was impressed with the fact that I applied to 4 schools. they told me it showed them that I was dedicated to being a CRNA and that I would do whatever I needed to do to reach my goal. I was pleased that they would offer that positive feedback. DD
  6. and which one are you leaning forward to???
  7. Thanks man, I think I might have met you at Samford that tuesday. I was the big guy in the charcoal colored suit......kinda crappy description huh lol Villanova just called me so I have one another interview. Things are looking up! Daniel
  8. well, I was so dissapointed tuesday. I got the alternate list. God, I hope UAB accepts some of the people on Samford acceptance list :chuckle I guess it was not a bad start. One down, One more to go. I have an interview next week with another school. I really liked Samford. Maybe a miracle will happen.
  9. well, The interview went well. Everyone their was so very nice. I loved Birminham and Samford was so majestic. All the canidates were really nice and it was pleasure to meet them. I am waiting on pins and needles for the 20th. I interview elsewhere in a couple weeks, but Samford made it very hard to consider anywhere else. God, I hope I get in there.
  10. I don't work for emory. I am not sure how they do thier contracts. DD
  11. I finished up my negotiations today. Thanks to help from this board and well taken advice, I put together a contract that pays for my tuition. I have been affiliated with this group for many years and was actually urged to seek anesthesia school by the chief of anesthesia so I felt real comfortable. The are for salary and benefits are beneficial to me and do not lock me into todays salary and benefits. Working it off over 3 years and if not job is available I am not held accountable. So good luck to all that are trying and thanks to those who help me. Now say a prayer that I get in I interview next week.
  12. His wait time was 9 minutes. They were on the way to get him when he shot himself. DD
  13. No debriefing done. It was very bad. The family did try to blame the hospital. I felt sorry for my charge and triage. I was with a SICK, SICK patient that I had to accompany EMS on transfer to a nother facility. We were loading him up when it happened. It was so so bad on all of us.
  14. This happened to me at work yesterday. WOW what a day! taken from www.moultrieobserver.com Man shoots himself at ER Victim in critical condition John Oxford MOULTRIE-A 49-year-old man shot himself at Colquitt Regional Medical Center after his son took him to the emergency room Wednesday afternoon. Moultrie Police Sgt. Roger Lindsay said Charles "Charlie" Hamilton, 49, of 2312 Sylvester Drive, was brought to the emergency room by his son, complaining of several medical problems. Hamilton went inside the bathroom at the ER's waiting room, and his son stated he heard a single gunshot. Lindsay was called to the ER at 3:21 p.m. When the son went into the bathroom, Lindsay said he found Hamilton with a single, self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head area. Moultrie police officers found a 9 mm pistol inside the bathroom, and the son identified the gun as Hamilton's. The son told officers he did not know Hamilton had brought the gun with him to the ER, Lindsay said. A hospital spokesman said Hamilton was listed in critical condition as of late Wednesday afternoon. Lindsay said Hamilton's son believes the medical problems his father complained of were the reason he shot himself. He could not elaborate on what medical conditions Hamilton suffered from.
