  1. Anyone here work at Cook Children's in Prosper? Pros/Cons?
  2. I know this is an old post but this is a GREAT TIP!
  3. I’m thinking about applying here, but I don’t know anything about this location. Any input would be greatly appreciated.
  4. I do not pull meds for other nurses nor do I expect them to pull any for me. At any given time, anyone, including myself, can make a mistake and draw the wrong med. While intentions are good, mistakes are drastic. I will not take that chance. And it has nothing to do with not trusting my peers, it's moreso a "safety feature" I've ingrained in myself. And I do believe if you have the time to draw it, you can give it -- and this is coming from someone on a chronically short-staffed unit.
  5. Also, how is parking in the area?

  7. Anyone work at the CU location that can provide some insight on what it’s like in the ER? Staffing (short, adequate, days, nights), nurse/patient ratio, culture, management, patients, parking, and anything else you care to offer up? Would you recommend working there? Feel free to send a private message if you prefer not to post publicly. Thanks!

  10. Agree with the above posters. Know your math! Also, brush up on A&P physiology, specifically cardiac, respiratory and renal -- these 3 things are major! Know the pathophysiology of common respiratory and cardiac diseases (ie. congestive heart failure, mitral valve stenosis, COPD, pulmonary edema, etc.). If you already have your fundamentals book, read the oxygenation chapter. Good luck!
  11. How has the entrance to the program changed?
  12. So far, so good. Brushing up on A&P and math as we speak.
  13. Thanks for this info. I didn't know about the uniform fitting on the 16th. I guess they'll tell those of us that didn't get the email about it during orientation.
  14. Can you return it? There's supposed to be a SIM card that we have to have access to...
