Fired From First NP Job: Struggling Emotionally
I am so sorry this happened to you. It must feel devastating. Can you turn the picture around? This is about them and their lack of knowing how to care for a new NP - you were up front with them. It's actually not about you because someone else in your position would probably have been treated the same way. And they said they liked you. Consider this a blip in a very long career as a growing NP. We learn constantly on the job, and now you know what kind of questions to ask at your next interview. Don't give up on your dream. Being an NP is an amazing profession and it may take a couple of tries to get into the job that is the right fit. This one obviously was the wrong fit - doesn't make you bad/wrong/going down the wrong career path. Hang in there. Try again. Don't give up. You will find the right fit for you. Good luck.

Newbie Questions About NP Career
I am an FNP. Unless you know you want to do acute care, or ER/Peds or another specialty specific degree only, I suggest doing family as you can treat cradle to grave. I only do locums work. I recently licensed in 2 other states, although at present have only worked in GA. I love the flexibility of being able to work when I can. I suggest working for at least a year in one place to get experience under the mentorship of someone before going out on your own though. You won't get benefits, but are paid more per hour, and if flexibility is important to you, the trade off is worth it.

DEA and doing locum tenens
How does this affect working locums? Do I have to keep moving my license to different providers/addresses?

DEA and doing locum tenens
Hi, I am a family nurse practitioner and I only work locum tenens. I want to apply for a DEA in Georgia, but was told I have to have a delegating physician. Is this true? Anyone else do locums work and have a DEA? How did you get it? Thanks. Michele.

What nursing specialty has the best work life balance?
I am a nurse practitioner and do locum tenens only, which gives me the freedom to schedule work around the rest of my life. I think you can do that as a nurse too doing travel nursing, even in your own city. Only downside is if there is a dry period where there is no work which doesn't happen very often, and I don't get benefits.

Camper to Nurse ratio?
The camp I worked at two years ago is planning on 200 campers for this summer. Right now they have 160 signed up for this summer - a three week camp. I had one helper two years ago, and they have only hired one for this year. Is that reasonable, or should I ask for a second assistant. I was on 24/7 the last time, and wiped out by the end. Thoughts please
