  1. Hello, I am not an expert but I hope I can help. Like others said, location does matter. I graduated with my ADN and currently am in a nursing residency in the Houston area. I was hired for night-shift at the rate: $29.50 base +4.50 differential for night shift and $2.00 for working weekends. I was also told to expect a raise at the end of 3 months and at the end of the first year. I believe you're being underpaid by a lot considering the experience you have. I would personally look for a new job.
  2. Thank you. The only drawback is that I'll be delaying my desired career choice by one year at least. I do believe that I need to improve my critical thinking skills. I also believe nurse residencies should not be offered for new nurses since we lack the critical thinking skills you mentioned. But since it's offered I went for it.
  3. Thank you so much for responding. HCA is a large hospital system located in many states. I am leaning towards the magnet hospital after reading your comment as I feel I'll be better supported to grow.
  4. Thank you for reading my post! I am a new grad, and I've received an offer at a magnet hospital for IMU telemetry. I've also received an offer at an HCA hospital in my area for ICU. My ultimate goal is to become a CRNA. I love the magnet hospital, and I can see myself growing there, but they aren't starting me at ICU. I've also heard bad stories at HCA hospitals-hence why I'm undecided. If I choose the magnet hospital, I'll have to wait at least one year before I can apply to an ICU position. HCA is about a one hour drive from my home, and the magnet hospital is about a 30-minute drive. I'm just seeking some guidance on what path I should take.
  5. That's awesome. How did you begin the process? I'm just going to do what you did. I don't want to stay idle and miss the deadline.
  6. I'm not sure how the process works either. Based on other responses on here, the advisor said to wait for an email from the school.
  7. Did you receive an email from Coleman to start the process?
  8. I'll be going sometime next week too, we should had received something by now I would think.
  9. Have you been able to go to the school and ask about the BON clearance?
  10. It's been two weeks plus since acceptance and I'm still waiting for an email for BON clearance. I've noticed other nursing programs in the Houston area already started this process. Has anyone heard anything?
  11. In regards to the hepatitis B, I believe you can get a booster then get a titer one month later to prove immunity. Go see a doctor ASAP and check to see if the first dose will boost your immunity. Since you had some immunity already, it should be enough for you to pass within that 30 day period. Sounds like they messed up your Tdap. The Tdap is supposed to be a vaccine. You may have to get the pertussis vaccine by itself. You should go ask all these questions to your doctor, he will better inform you.I would go see the doctor either Thursday or Fri. Monday is the 7th, that would cut it close to the deadline if you want to check immunity for hep b within 30 days.
  12. I've completed my vaccine and titers. What's your question? Maybe I can help.
  13. Oh, I was accepted and I haven't received an email so it may be another school. Not sure.
  14. I haven't received anything yet, does it say who sent it?
