  1. following up, did you end up doing it? Currently exploring this as an RN and now future NP
  2. Hi nursing fam I've officially been an RN for two years as of recent. I've ALWAYS wanted to be an NP. Recent events with a loss and constant job issues has me going back to school for NP. Within a week I got into a real online PMHNP program (has several real physical campuses, NOT a diploma mill). I think I'd be happy as either type of NP. However, my REAL passion lies in physical issues as I'm also chronically ill with several physical chronic illnesses. ALSO in my state FNPs can make around the exact same as RNs so it's not worth the financial debt. The biggest issue is I NEED an eventual remote job and I don't think FNP can ever be remote. FNP also seems like hell in clinics with slamming out patients in only 15 minute increments. I need something outpatient and would like remote. I'm really struggling and only have till end of next week to pull out of the program without financial repercussions. Please help ?
  3. Hello I am about to graduate from RN school next month. Without much experience (aside from my 800 clinical hours in the program), what sort of jobs can I get with my disabilities? I have chronic fatigue (the worst), dysautonomia, mild disc degeneration/spinal osteopenia, fasting & reactive hypoglycemia, interstitial cystitis, insomnia, Sjogren's syndrome, the list goes on and on. Who would really accept me in CA as a new grad at a work from home job for example? That's what I really want but am also trying to get into new grad med surge positions just in case I need at least a year of experience and have to buckle up for a year or two.
  4. but Grossmont I can afford and since I already have a Bachelors---I really can't get government assistance getting a second Bachelors. That's why I chose Grossmont :). I just wished I could graduated sooner so I can apply for an MSN afterwards.
  5. Hello everyone :) I was recently admitted into Grossmont's ADN program that starts in the Spring. I emailed a counselor about the program and wasn't 100% sure on her answer. I received my BA back in 2014 so a lot of the GE requirements (microbiology, anat, phys, English, Psych, Sociology, Speech, etc) have already been completed (except of course the nursing classes)....Will it still take me two years to complete my ADN due to a necessary sequencing of the nursing classes even with my BA already done? Thank you!
  6. I got in today! Congratulations you guys!!!!!!! What were your point scores?
  7. What about Grossmont? What was the avg points for them?
  8. actually 86 points* WIll that help anything? If they calculate correctly that is.
  9. sorry to reopen this thread but I read some of you had scores in the 80s but didn't get into Grossmont? How is that possible?
  10. she told me the same thing with my 85 points!
  11. I'm so nervous. I should have around 84 points if they calculate mine correctly (and aren't too lazy to look at my transcripts to see I have advanced language proficiency) I worry they won't calculate it correctly!!! So people usually get admitted in the 80s at Grossmont? We hear back in October? This whole process is so nerve wracking
  12. Hi Niki, I know you made these posts years ago, but I am freaking out re the point system too!!! I have similar scores as you. I'm still waiting to get everything evaluated. So far, it's not looking too good! Apparently AP classes don't count for anything ? Pre nursing core is weighed so heavily! I got an 86.7% on the TEAS. Should I retake it and send it to them? let me know and let me know how you got such a high score your second round! Thanks, Bre
  13. Hello, I just applied for Fall 2018 at Fresno. They did not ask or let you tell them about your volunteer experience. I listed those labs with 0 and CR. Does anyone know if you have to send in your AP credits to them if you already got them awarded on Nursing CAS? Thanks!
  14. Wait, why not a 4.0 if you pass? Do MSN programs accept that? I am waiting to see the status of my app to WGU and that is concernug seeing I am seeing this as a fresh start if I grt in and would really need excellent transcript scores when I apply for a MSN
  15. Hello everyone :-), I am new and struggling. I received my BA at UCSD in 2014 with megh grades due to chronic health issues. Postbac I have been taking all the nursing prereqs. I just finished last year. I got admitted into Roseman's ABSN program for this July's cohort but am highly concerned about taking out so many private loans (and having to pay them back while attending)when I know I need an MSN to obtain my dream goal of becoming an endocrine/internist nurse practitioner. Sd city college really screwed me over as they never received my paper application apparently and will not even consider me for this year despite having evidence of my scanned paper app I sent in Oct of 2017. I applied to CSUSM's temecula ABSN program for this summer but they almost screwed me over as their system failed to register I turned in all transcripts when I did so I should be hearing back from them soon but they are delayed (If I never contacted them last week, I would have been screwed). I calculated my points to 27 under CSUSM's guidelines and fear I may not gain admission. Also waiting to hear back from WGU's online program. I wish I applied to SDSU and other CCs!! I may have to go to Utah to make any progress on my goals this year but fear the amount of debt looming over me by the end of all of this will not be equivalent to even one year's pay as an NP Azusa ELMSN and Samuel Merritt ELMSN rejected me. could really use some advice and well wishes!!! I would love to stay in CA and go to CSUSM!! Please cross fingers for me and let me know what you think. Appreciate all of you and good luck on your nursing goals as well! thank you!!! edit: 86.7% on TEAS/ 89% on HESI pre nursing core from community colleges inc chem, bio, nutrition =3.5 (every program calculates differently) UCSD gpa (I transferred in with better grades than received at UCSD due to fighting PCOS and Cushings while enrolled) =2.84
