  1. Hi all, soon to be new grad here! I didn't find another thread yet for the Stanford New Grad RN Residency starting Fall 2020. I thought this would be a good place to share advice and on where/when to apply for Stanford’s nurse residency program. I have a vague understanding that it may reopen this spring, however, the website does not have much information past that. Not to mention, it's nice to extend a little support to each other during our first job hunt. Best of luck to everybody!
  2. Also would love to know the answer to this. Do you all happen to know if there is a fall 2020 cohort that applications may open for this spring?
  3. Hi all, soon to be new grad here looking for advice and tips on where/when to apply for Stanford’s nurse residency program. I have a vague understanding that it may reopen this spring, however the website I was using to get my updates from seems to have changed or been removed. Any suggestions are welcome!
  4. I looked at their Flickr account at photos from last year's DD: Flickr Looks like most everyone is dressed "business casual."
  5. I'm going to DD on the 20th!
  6. Weird, something happened to the FB group. It isn't there anymore? Maybe there's just a temporary issue with FB?
  7. I'm in too! Looking forward to meeting everybody!
  8. I just spoke with an admissions officer today. They told me that applications are still being reviewed and that students will receive an update after 10 weeks (so sometime the week of 6/25 I imagine).
  9. I haven't heard anything either!
  10. The website states that admission decisions are made in July. See under "Application Review": Deadlines and Important Dates | Duke School of Nursing
  11. Sometime after July 2nd.
  12. Best of luck! NYU would be lucky to have you!
  13. Thanks to everyone for sharing info! It has been SO helpful!
  14. I contacted them about it directly.
  15. Weird! I got an email from admissions on Tuesday that said waitlisters should get some updates around May 15th. :/ So much conflicting information! This waiting period has been pretty difficult for me. I hope everyone else is hanging in there!
  16. I believe you are right about that.
  17. I'm curious too... has anyone else from the waitlist heard back?
  18. I agree, I had the hardest time with #3 & #4. I think you likely have a lot that you could draw upon from your medical mission work in Africa for essay #3 or being a supervisor. As a supervisor you likely are managing a team of diverse people, which probably presents challenges. You probably have a handle on your essays by now, but I thought I would drop a line anyway :) Best of luck!
  19. Hi Shelbystrockbine! Nice to see a fellow Oregonian on here :) You sound like a stellar applicant! I had my previous schools send transcripts over. I still haven't received a response about where we can confirm that Duke has received them though. *Sigh* If you can send them electronically, I would recommend that. At the very least you will get a confirmation email telling you that someone in Duke admissions downloaded your transcript.
  20. Hey all - I noticed there wasn't a threat for the OC campus and thought I would start one. I would love to hear about each of your backgrounds, professional experience and/or where else you may have applied. This might be a great place to ask questions, share insights and tips for submitting a strong application! Me: I live in Portland, Oregon. I graduated with a BA in Psychology in 2010. Since then I have worked in domestic violence shelters, mental health crisis centers and in outpatient addiction treatment. I have hospital volunteer experience at a Burn ICU. I applied to Johns Hopkins for Fall '18, in which I have been waitlisted, and I am also applying to Duke's ABSN for Spring '19. I have an underwhelming undergraduate GPA and a 4.0 in prerequisites. In my applications I've done my best to highlight my professional experience and dedication to under served and under resourced populations. Does anyone know about when decisions are made? It feels like a quick turn around compared to other programs. Looking forward to getting to know you all.
  21. I just found this on the DUSON ABSN Spring '18 forum: "They usually get between 350-400 applications and accept 70-75 students. So that's between a 20% and 18% acceptance rate."
  22. I do not! I sent them an e-mail over a week ago asking a few questions (that being one of them) and have yet to receive a reply. Calling might be a better option.
  23. A JHUSON advisor told me never to bother with retaking a course to bump it from a B to an A. They will really value your experience, so let that ring true in your essays and resume. There is no page limit on your resume and they told me to utilize this opportunity to "tell your story" by describing your professional roles and adding any special projects you may have done. The advisors are often willing to review your materials in advance and give you advice on how to strengthen them. I took advantage of this, had my transcripts, resume and essays reviewed by an admissions officer before submitting my app! I am currently waitlisted for Fall. I hope this helps!
  24. I was wondering the same thing! I was under the impression that they would e-mail you a confirmation once they received your transcripts, however I haven't received any. If anyone knows, please share!
