  1. Hi all, I recently interviewed for an ICU nurse residency program. I was told that is was 12 weeks (1 day of classroom and 4 days on the unit with a one on one preceptor); then I would begin on my own. My question is: Is 12 weeks enough time to be fully prepared to start working as an ICU nurse? I gladly welcome and the thoughts and suggestions of all the critical care nurse here. Thanks
  2. I haven't heard a peep from them. I'm hoping to get some feedback at the Expo this Saturday.
  3. Hi, Thank you so much for starting this thread . I too, applied to Cook Children. I haven't heard back from them yet either. Good luck to us all.
  4. Hello all, For those who may be interested, BSW has a GN Expo in Plano this Saturday. Go to their fb page to register. I will be attending that Expo. I applied for the last cohort, but did not get an offer so this is my second time applying. In retrospect, I would not have had my license in time to begin the September cohort so I am taking it in stride. For those of you in nursing school, please apply and pay for your license and NCLEX as this is what you need in order to be fingerprinted and to do the jurisprudence exam. I am a recent transplant from NY and found that it takes time for all that to be accomplished. I am currently waiting on my school to submit the affidavit of graduation and then I'll be able to get my ATT and sit the NCLEX. Hears wishing us all lots of blessings in this venture.
  5. Happy 4th of July. Has anyone received in-person interview invites yet?
  6. Did you call the recruiter or did they call you?
  7. It was for Emergency Room Irving.
  8. I received an invite for the digital interview last night. I applied on Friday evening. I am beyond excited. Good luck to all you fabulous future nurses out there.
  9. I will be graduating in August.
  10. I am touched by this post. Yes, we all make mistakes but it takes a mature, well-rounded professional to admit it and take the necessary steps to amend it. You have inspired me to be more humble in my undertakings and my conversations. I wish there were more persons like Wuzzie who will call a spade a spade and let us know when we have crossed the line. Thank you LPNewbie for this post
  11. Wonderful. I was told that the application site would open in July so I am in the process of finalizing my resume. I expect my critic to give it to me by tomorrow. Do I really need a finalized resume and cover letter to apply or should I go ahead and apply and have the completed one ready for interviews and what not?
  12. I am in an accelerated program myself. It is the most stressful course I have ever done in my life. I have literally only taken days off on the semester breaks, which are no more than 3 weeks. Thankfully I am on my last semester and already looking into applying to nurse residency programs. But let me encourage you.....it is doable and it will be worth it. I tell myself if others have done it before, then I can do it too. Best wishes and God bless
  13. The hospitals all have different times in which they open up the link for nurse residency applications. Keep looking at the websites/Facebook pages/LinkedIn pages of the hospitals that you are interested in and prepare your resume and cover letter in the meantime. I am currently on my last semester and will graduate in August. I am applying for a nurse residency position this week that starts in October. Best wishes.
  14. Hi All, Anybody applied or applying to BSWH for the fall 2018 residency? Just wanted to start a thread to facilitate discussion.
