  1. I might not be up to the minimum number of posts.... But give me a second and I'll get there.
  2. PM me. I can tell you about Barry.
  3. I know a few potential SRNAs search this topic looking for information on applying to CRNA school, so I thought someone here might be interested in this event. There are 7 SRNAs that will be getting together for 2 hours on March 14th (it'll be recorded for later viewing) to answer whatever questions come our way. It's a great opportunity to ask a question anonymously and get real feedback from current students from all over the country. An event dedicated to helping you get your questions answered! JOIN CURRENT Nurse Anesthesia Residents who attend different programs, have a variety of backgrounds, and are all at different points along the SRNA journey! Discount code here --> https://crnaschoolprep.lpages.co/SRNA-qa-panel-tammie/
  4. Thank you! It's a completely different skill set for sure. Personally I prefer the activity level, procedures, and 1:1 care that I can give as a CRNA. It's all about what you want to do. I'm tired of hospital rounds. I want to do locum tenens after getting some experience. But I'll keep up some PRN NP work to keep my license current. Maybe I'll eventually combine the two skill sets.
  5. Woohoo! We're you in the June interviews? It's Tammie. ? Feel free to message me and I'll send you my email.
  6. Try signing up for a graduate level pharm and Chemistry class. Both will only make school easier and help boost your application (and you can tell them you made an A while still working full time!). Talk with the admissions people at the schools you are considering. Get their feedback on the PICU only experience. I'm not familiar with magoosh, so no input there. Google Score it now. That'll help boost the writing component of your GRE score.
  7. Hi! Couple of tips. 1. Shadow a CRNA. Nothing shows your interest more than taking the time to actually see what CRNAs do. Might be hard with covid now, but at least try. 2. Get your CCRN. A lot of programs are starting to require it. If your program doesn't, why not get it so you can stick out? 3. Try Kaplan for the GRE prep. It'll only work if you dedicate the time. So don't pay for it if you aren't going to do the work. But, it can really help! If you're worried about GPA, you can take a graduate level science class to help show that you can do graduate level studies. It's all about selling yourself in your personal statement and in the interview.
  8. While I am still in CRNA school, my eventual goal is to obtain my post-doctoral certificate in pain management. I'm looking at the available programs. Any input as to which one is better, better outcomes, better clinical experiences, etc.? USF is physically close to me, but I'm willing to travel if the program is better. Any experiences out there?
  9. Last year we didn't use nursingCAS. The application was directly through Barry. Maybe it's changed since last year?
  10. @candycrush890 @estiles I don't remember the exact date that I submitted my application. It was sometime late April to mid-May if I remember correctly. The sooner you submit the better! After you submit, then you have to send all the copies of your certificates, GRE score, etc. They'll email you with the email address to send them into them. I was interviewed and accepted pending the chem class. So, yes, you can submit without everything. And, yes, they may choose to interview you without everything already submitted. I've heard from others that they were accepted pending PALS, GRE scores, etc. If you haven't completed something yet, you might want to work it into your statement that you're working on it. The pre-anesthesia class worked great for me. I had already taken organic chemistry, so it was an easy review. It's expensive, but I didn't lose time at work because of it. With the local alternatives, I would have cut down on my hours working and thus would probably have spent as much if not more money. It's also great because I got to experience their software package. It made it an easy adjustment to classes this semester. As for GRE scores, I think they want a score of 155 on the quant section. I believe there are a few who got in with a lower score but they had other strong points.
  11. I'm in the May 2019 class. Get your application in early! Don't wait till August. They'll interview people who don't have everything in yet.
  12. Did you get added (I don't see your real name here so I'm not sure)? Allnurses hasn't sent me messages that this thread had been updated so I hadn't thought to look. If you're still not in the group, please try again. I don't see any pending requests.
  13. Did they say how many were in the Tampa site?
  14. Did anyone go to the webinar today? Carolyn answered a lot of questions about the application process and such. Check Barry's website, I'm sure she'll be doing it again. Apparently they made CCRN mandatory this application period.
  15. There might have been a delay due to FANA this weekend and the prep needed. Hopefully everyone will hear from them soon.
  16. Anyone else hear that they are in? :-) Good luck to you all!
  17. Don't know about the OP, but for me going from acute care NP to CRNA is about the type of work and job satisfaction for my personality.
  18. I have my MSN and made sure to comment in my personal statement about getting it and why I want to persue my CRNA now. I found that they also asked me about it. They wanted to know that I wouldn't have a chip on my shoulder (act like I was better than everyone else) and asked why CRNA and why now. So just be prepared for questioning along these lines.
  19. I'm the "admin" of the Facebook group. Really I just wanted a place for us to hang out... no moderation just fun and maybe help each other as we go along. :-) Just send a copy of your acceptance letter so I know you're real. Here
  20. Just entering school this coming May. The thought of traveling down the road (way, way down the road) sounds interesting. My husband works from home, so he would be able to travel with me. Could you elaborate a little more about what you're enjoying about the change? Any suggestions on what to look for or what to avoid?
  21. No, I meant when I started to tell people I was going to CRNA school I started hearing these horror stories about their students. Barry has been spot on in,taking care of my application and through the interview process. Barry has been great.
  22. How has everyone taken your acceptance or application to Barry? I'm hearing horror stories, but it's like these people are coming out of the woodwork. Kinda like they would tell me the same stories no matter which school I chose.
  23. Sent an email this morning. Thank you!!!
  24. I had family and a few friends read my statement. One of the schools I was going to apply to (changed my mind when I received an acceptance from my 1st choice school) said that the personal statement was a great time to sneak in any info you want the committee to know. As long as you are answering the question(s) they ask, you can manipulate your answer to explain any possible deficiencies or blanks in your application. For me, I had started to apply in 2007, but was unexpectedly widowed. So I threw in a one-liner about that because I figured they would wonder why after 10 years I'm now coming back. So anything special about you that isn't covered in the application, this is how to get it in front of them.
