  1. To be honest she's not exaggerating one bit. All of my friends that were people of color faced much more difficulties than the caucasian students (such as repeating practicums, less help/mentoring/words of encouragement) and the professors use the term "incompetent" quite often when referring to you if they feel you are unable to do something. Probably because they test for our "competency" so frequently they feel it's okay to use the opposite word. Even holding students back from progressing to the next class seemed like it happened more to minorities and people of color than the caucasian students (unfortunately, some of who should have legitimately been held back but were given a pass by the professor). It's definitely a game of polities and preference at this school. In regard to the high NCLEX pass rate, I'm honestly starting to believe it's because they will hold you back for some reason or another that by the end of the program, most of the student that made it through were strong test takers and didn't need much help to begin with. The professor's idea of "teaching and preparing" consists of having you do a bunch of work on your own with no explanation as to why certain answers are right or wrong. We basically taught ourselves what we needed to know and had to jump through hoops of hell and egos tomake it through this program. Had I known what I would experience coming to this school I would've gone somewhere else!
  2. I actually just decided to live on campus out of convenience. It's pretty nice too! All of my room/suite mates are pretty cool and they even have a roommate buyout option to where you can live in a double bedroom apt by yourself and the person in the other room does the same (so it's a total of 2 ppl with a private bathroom each). So I'm not too sure on the places to live other than here, but from what I've heard, anywhere around here isn't too bad. Also, I just bought everything here because I flew in from Tx.
  3. We have 4 groups of 7-8 each with clinical days being either Wednesday or Thursday. I'm prerty sure they just randomly assigned us in the groups too.
  4. Well you still have some time, but I had some difficulty hunting them down because they wanted the specific antibody count in addition to the pos/neg result if it was a titer. The rest weren't too bad though, just need it to be an official document. We just officially got our clinical groups/schedules, they'll get everything out to you as they get caught up
  5. Email the heck out of them! They forgot to send me one, I found out through Facebook that they send out some stuff, I emailed and called and they sent me everything a little later. But if you scroll through the website, you can find most of the shots and other stuff required.
  6. Lol I felt a little silly, but I'm glad to know I wasn't the only one wondering!! Have you gotten all of your stuff yet?
  7. I finally found it, thank you! I couldn't find the one for summer 2018, but I did find one for August 2018 as well as the overall accelerated nursing program.
  8. Lol no worries! I was actually trying to find the facebook page, and I found one that we can "like" but not one that I have to request access to. What did you search to find it? Also, I was wondering the same thing as far as supplies! I haven't received anything from the school saying that we need to buy anything before hand.
  9. According to the advisor I am! I paid my deposit a few days ago and filled out a housing application. My advisor just emailed me yesterday with my summer class schedule! I'm excited/nervous all at the same time! Do you know of any recommended off campus apartments to live at? I'm going to live on campus for the summer just until I become familiar with the area.
  10. Hey guys! I was recently accepted to the Ashland University ABSN program in Ohio for their summer 2018 cohort. I've found about everything there is to find on the website (lol) but I'm wondering if anyone has any personal experiences or opinions about the school? I'd also love to hear from any recently accepted or future students. Any information would be greatly appreciated! See y'all this summer!!
  11. I also just received my acceptance for summer 2018! But I can't find much else on the program either, did you ever find any more info?
  12. Where did they show your acceptance at?
  13. There's nothing posted on mine either *sigh*
  14. Where did it show you? On OPUS? Mine still says "your admission decision is not available"
