  1. Find a new job...as an NP. What you describe is unacceptable.
  2. Up To Date (UTD) counts if it is YOUR account. My employer has a license for UTD so providers have access, but I have yet to find a way to get CEUs like I did when I had my own personal UTD acct. There are pharm CEUs if it is drug therapy. You may want to check with your credentialing body and BON to see if it qualifies, too. I have had no issues in the past with ANCC or MiBON
  3. If you are an NP then why would you work as an RN? I agree with other posters that 21 patients a day is a bit much for a new grad NP. It is a FQHC so a lot of episodic visits, health screenings, etc. and the complexity will likely be different based on geography. Negotiate the orientation period so that you may work up to 21 patients a day. It is possible if you develop a consistent, streamlined technique (which takes a little planning and time to master). Be an NP! As a new NP I worked in an urgent care center that had similar requirements despite the 'walk-in' model. Some days I had 15 patients, other days up to 35. I developed a plan that kept my clinic flowing. You just do what you must to give the best care to each and every patient...don't let the clock short change your care and work ethic (just my $0.02)
  4. Be yourself, form your own opinions. Ask questions but know that there is more than one way to handle a situation so be open minded...there is rarely only one way to do things. It sounds like you are off to a good start if you have a 5 patient load on night one. Patient care first, be a good advocate, and keep safety in mind with a focus on interventions grounded in evidence. Good luck!
