  1. I got a call around 2PM PST and got in! I'm elated! The interview felt so impersonal, and I felt I bombed it. I guess we are our harshest critic, because the Assistant PD had such wonderful things to say to me. It really solidified my decision.
  2. Hi all! Congrats to those who received an interview! I am grateful for the opportunity, myself ? Best of luck!
  3. Hi everyone, I wanted to update you. After submitting my on demand video July 5th, I received a call back about a second interview this AM. I think they have a lot going on with COVID and some apps are moving slower than others. Best of luck to you all!
  4. I have not. I followed up with the recruiter but yet to hear back.
  5. Hi there! I can’t say for sure what the process is. I can only account for my own experience. There was only a 3 day window for external applications. I received the video interview email on Friday and was told I had 72 hours to complete it. I’m not interring that those who didn’t receive an email invite by now were rejected. From my intel from other hiring managers and former employees, they receive a large volume of applicants and I theorize, are going through the apps in “cohorts”. I’m hoping that this is the case for you and those who haven’t heard back. I’m sure that you will soon and I’m wishing you the best of luck!
  6. I applied to the Tele/DOU as an external and chose Mercy and La Jolla for my preferred locations. I completed the on demand videos last night as they were due by this morning. They could be screening them and depending on spots, send out more invites.
  7. I submitted my app on 06/23 as an external hire and received an email on Friday instructing me to compete the on demand video interview within 72 hours. Wishing you all the best of luck!
  8. They offer it once or twice a year at the community college in my town. Theory was once a week from 0800- 1600 and Clinical two days a week from 0630-1330. Alternatively, CNA progress are offered throughout the county at Skilled Nursing Facilities and are 8-12 weeks and the students are paid.
  9. I would suggest reapplying if you haven’t heard anything back from them. I was waitlisted last cohort and applied again as soon as I found out. I was never informed about my position on the waitlist. If I remember correctly, NursingCas saves most of your basic information. It’s definitely trying times but keep up the hard work! It will pay off.
  10. Go to: studenthealth.samuelmerritt.edu You’ll have to login with your portal user name and password! I would just copy the above and paste in google then go to first link. Hope this helps :).
  11. No problem at all! I’d be happy to help more if I can. My time is pretty slim right now as I’m preparing to move 3.5 hours north (along with all the little things I have to take care of before starting school) but I’ll do what I can. It brings me joy knowing I can help and inspire ??.
  12. Hello there! I was accepted to the June ABSN program - San Mateo and also interviewed for the ELMSN-FNP program. I was waitlisted for the ELMSN but there’s a possibility I could get off of it due to my spot. As of now, I’ve made my deposit and submitted my letter of intent for the ABSN program. It was due by March 8th. I too was waitlisted for the ABSN - San Mateo last cohort. I believe I was high teens or lower 20s. I called and asked them what I could do to improve my chances of getting in. Even though I scored high 80s/90s on the HESI, I retook it and improved all my scores. I also did a 9 week college level CNA program to get more patient interaction while running my own business and volunteering a minimum of 4 hrs a week at a hospital. I’d encourage you to reach out to them and see what you can do to improve your chances of getting in. Best of luck and I hope this helps! Keep getting after it ??!
  13. I remember hearing the same thing! Were you in the 10AM? I keep checking as well ?. Based on my interview experience, everyone seemed like great candidates so I’m sure they’re working hard on decisions. Wishing you the best.
  14. I would say the best piece of advice (that was given to me) is to be the best version of yourself and don’t try to outshine others, especially if it’s a group interview. It’s important to shine AMONGST others. Try your best to remain calm and take deep breathes. Speak from the heart and know your facts about the program. I can try my best to give you more detailed suggestions if I know a little bit more about you as well as your program of choice. It sounds like the CM interview was different.
  15. Thank you so much! I will definitely keep you informed :). I appreciate the kind words and wishing the best for you as well!
  16. Hello all! I’ve had such an intense few months and been unable to look on here until now. Wishing you all the best and for those who did not receive an interview, keep trying! Ask what you can improve upon or add to your resume. Take that class again and get an A, volunteer at a local clinic or hospital...anything to increase your chances of getting in. I had applied to the ABSN program last cohort and was waitlisted. I was admitted to the ABSN program at SF Peninsula campus and had my interview for the ELMSN-FNP program in Oakland Friday morning! To my fellow interviewees, I wish you the best of luck and I hope to be a part of this journey with you over the next years. If anyone has any questions, I’ll do my best to answer them. Don’t give up! If you know you want to be a nurse/FNP/CM, keep applying. Keep growing. You will get there!
  17. For the catalog course description, you need to create a list of all the pre-requisite courses and include where they were taken, the course name & abbreviation, along with the description you would find when you registered for the course. It's not hard to find. For example, if you took microbiology during your undergrad and are using it to represent your grade, you can google search the "name of the institution microbiology course description/catalog AND the year". The first links should provide you with a catalog where you can copy and paste this into your own document. Regards, JB
  18. As I had mentioned in my earlier post, I too was waitlisted for San Mateo. I chose Sacramento as my second choice but (anyone) please correct me if I'm wrong but we only have the opportunity to be admitted/waitlisted to one campus? You are fairly high on the waitlist so congratulations! It sounds like you are being proactive with getting on your application for Summer just in case you don't make it off. I'm wishing you and everyone else in similar situations the best and I hope to meet some of you sooner than later!
  19. Hi everyone! I have been watching from the sidelines but wanted to contribute now that I've received an email from SMU for the Spring 2019 ABSN cohort. I was waitlisted and my position is not too low but also not high enough to justify moving from a different area of California to San Mateo if I miraculously were accepted a week before school. That being said, I'm applying for the Summer ABSN program. This was my first time applying to the ABSN program but to give you a brief background: -I attended the Nursing Success! Seminar -I graduated from Santa Clara in 2012 with a B.S. My overall GPA was fairly low due to dealing with some major health issues. - I went back and retook every single Pre- Requisite including Patho/Pharm and finished 2 months ago after 6 Semesters of courses. My GPA for my last 60 units is around a 3.8 but considering my undergrad, it's closer to a 3.3-3.4 overall. -I scored an 89 overall on the HESI. I did very well in every section besides A&P. I took it last because I felt it was my strongest but received a low 80. -I have extensive volunteer experience from my undergrad and time thereafter. I organized a club traveling to Central America every spring break to provide medical and dental services to poverty stricken families every spring break. -Since 2013/2014, I created my own business that is not healthcare related yet I've managed to run it full time while going back to school. -I've tried to get part time jobs or volunteer as a scribe, MA, anything to be involved locally but it's been almost impossible to do without "prior experience". -Note: I applied to other programs for the Fall and was denied or waitlisted to all four of them. I hope that those of you that have been waitlisted or not heard back remain positive. It is NOT easy to get into accelerated BSN programs or nursing school in general. Congrats again to those who were admitted. I hope to be in the Oakland Sim Lab this Summer :).
  20. I spoke with someone from admissions and she said that they admit on a "day-by-day" basis.
  21. I haven't heard back yet but I do not have any holds nor one saying "Academic advising required". I don't want to jinx anything for you (so knock on wood) but that may be a good sign! Best of luck!
  22. Thanks for responding and congrats on getting an interview!
  23. I received an email stating that the ABSN program interview decisions would go out today and continue to send out until interview dates March 2nd and 3rd (I'm assuming this is based on how many first interview acceptances commit). Anyway, I received an email from OHSU this morning with a subject of "URGENT- OPEN IMMEDIATELY" but my excitement soon went away after realizing it was a Pin Notification for logging in to the student information system. Did anyone else receive this? Best of luck to you all!
