Fountain Valley Hospital Residency
Hi casseyy, Thanks! I received a call from a gentleman with the unique title of "HR ICU Recruiter," to which I infer that he may only be in charge of calling ICU candidates.

Fountain Valley Hospital Residency
There is no second interview round to my knowledge. I had only went through the panel interview and have already received the offer email. However, during my interview it was mentioned that if I get through that particular interview, that there would be a peer interview... Don't know if this was only specific to ICU or applies to all units. I am assuming that since I already got the offer than whatever this peer interview is would be just like a "get to know the team" activity.

Hello everyone! I'm glad to have found this! I interviewed on Monday for ICU, got an offer call on Wednesday afternoon, and proudly accepted the position :) It's probably no surprise, but I'm SUPER EXCITED to start!! This interview trail has gone on long enough and I absolutely cannot wait to start this new journey with you all!

Also, they said that if you don't hear by next week, then don't fret. Based on offer declines, they could possibly be calling the week after too. Good luck to all!!! :)

UC San Diego Health New Grad January 2018
Hi, sorry for the late reply. Yes, I was informed they were only choosing one person. How was your interview?! From what I understand Hillcrest ICU had interviews AND made their decision this week. And for some odd reason, they re-posted that same new grad position to their website--this time saying they have 4 openings instead of 3...

Thanks! The only healthcare related work experience I have is as a caregiver, and that's not in the hospital setting. I can't say that I really have anything that stands out to employers as much as you all. I am a career changer too, but I doubt that is what got me those me calls. I wish I could be more of help! ... And I didn't get the CVC PCU job. The panel interview went great tho. It wasn't as intimidating as I thought it was going to be. I felt very welcomed and was highly impressed with the professionalism of management and staff. It was about 30 mins. Some "What would you do in this situation" and "tell about a time when" questions. The decision was made fairly quickly. I believe all interviews were held on the same day and we received notification the day after.

Kaiser Permanente LAMC March 2017 New Grad Program
Anyone going to be there on Jan. 5th? That's my interview date. Super nervous. Anyone have any idea how this is going to go down? 4+ hours for a new grad interview just seems like an awfully long time. When was the Anaheim job posted? Totally missed the ball on that one

UC San Diego Health New Grad January 2018
The nurse manager had called me on the spot, asked if I was still interested, then asked me two questions. From there I had to wait about a day for an email response on whether or not they had chosen me to for an interview in-person. I didn't think my phone interview was that impressive for them to email me, but I'm grateful! My status changed to "Consideration for Interview" on 12/6/17. I was informed it was going to be a panel interview. My status for surg/onc is "Referred to Hiring Department" on 12/1/17.

UCI RN Residency November 2017
Hi everyone! Glad to have found this subforum :) I applied to two Clinical Nurse I positions, one in SICU, and the other in med/surg 4T. Statues for both still say "Application Received." I would absolutely love to work at this hospital, but have no idea how their new grad hiring process occurs. I uploaded my cover letter, transcript, and LORS, but not certs since there wasn't a option for that in the drop-down menu. Did you all upload certs?

Help a (semi) new grad nurse looking to get in informatics. What's my next step?
Some hospitals I have rotated at have particular nurses become "superusers" of EMR systems which are newly being implemented on the floors. They act as the go-to persons for questions about how to navigate and chart through the software system. They go through extra userability training that transitions them into this role without any extra IT-related credentials. Of course this only applies if your hospital is adopting a new system, and if you're actually working at the hospitals in a clinical capacity, but just a thought if one day both of these criteria points fits into your specific situation.

Is 46 Too Old for Nursing School?
I couldn't agree with Beth's response more! I personally do not believe 46 is too old. I had a person in my cohort in their mid-forties, and they were able to score a new grad position sooner than others who were much younger than them! No doubt discrimination exists, but you just gotta keep trying and apply to everywhere and anywhere. With your extensive healthcare experience I believe you have the potential to shine in your nursing clinicals which can leave a lasting impression with preceptors and instructors who can later be your LOR writers and references.
