  1. Hello Gambutrol! I have just read through the length of your thread.. I agree with roll_69 that SRNA has been receiving large amounts of IEN application for the last 6 months and every application is in queu, processed according to when it was received. As for your working visa, the Canadian Embassy may or may not grant you one pending your SRNA eligibility. You are right that some nurses have been issued a visa without the eligibility but the general requirement for issuance is the Eligibility letter. Besides, upon your entry to canada, the immigration officer will ask for your eligibility letter to take the CRNE from SRNA as a supporting document to your work permit. I am glad to hear that you have been relieved to receive the Document checklist from SRNA via email and all required documents have been received. But, having so means that they have just opened your file and will still need to process it. They will still review and evaluate the number of nursing hours you have practiced and might write your you for verification including you, your previous employers as to the currency of your nursing practice. I knew of some whose RLE hours have been questioned as to the area of Pediatrics and Pyschiatric Nursing. Lastly, have patience and comply asap if they require anything. Take note the name of the person who sent you the email as she is the one who is processing your file. Call if you need to for clarification of concerns. You mentioned you are going to work at the Regina General Hospital under the Regina Qu' Appelle Health Region. The next batch of IEN take will be this fall yet as we have heard here. So, that will be September and that will by batch. Welcome to Regina and hope this helps!

  17. thanks for sharing your experience about rgh.. how about pasqua hospital? have you been there? what do you mean by "regina is filled with a lot of drugs but that is expected in that large of a city"? thanks again:heartbeat
  18. hi there! in my opinion, yes, you need work experience. most of our colleagues here suggest that you get employed experience instead of volunteer experience. but, if you can't have the former, just get hospital exposure and a certificate of training. please think twice before planning to file an application to the provinces you mentioned. they always ask the number of hours you have worked and that is usually 1125 hours if i'm not mistaken. i further suggest that you read thoroughly first the instructions for iens in their respective website before you do your next move. also, your ielts certification is also needed. hope this helps:heartbeat
  19. rags, i sent you a PM. thanks:heartbeat
  20. hi kitin! just want to help and clarify: NCLEX is for US CRNE is for Canada There is no reciprocity between these two countries since in US, eligibility for NCLEX is according to each state's requirements. As for Canada, each province has its own nursing authority to assess your qualifications. Also, passing the NCLEX-RN exam or PN exam doesn't give you extra credit to be granted an eligibility to take the CRNE. Hope this helps.:heartbeat
  21. Thanks also to fiona and janfrn and alex for the lively discussion about the weather there.. we are surely learning too..
  22. hi sknurse! Thanks a lot for sharing your experiences. I am very fortunate to read your tips because I know what to expect and surely I will do my very best to live up to our employer's expectations. Do continue to keep us posted here. We are happy to learn from you. Godbless in your life in regina.:heartbeat
  23. just want to post this even this is late.. my friend is part of this group. NEWS RELEASE August 11, 2008 For immediate release. Sunrise Health Region Prepares to Receive New Nurses Sunrise Health Region will soon welcome sixty-one nurses emigrating from the Philippines. The nurses will travel in groups arriving approximately six weeks apart and will complete a six week orientation before starting their regular duties. The first six nurses will arrive August 13, 2008. "The arrivals are deliberately spread out to allow proper welcome and orientation of each group," says Vice President of Human Resources Christina Denysek. "The health region routinely assists and orientates new employees from Canada and abroad, but to have so many internationally educated nurses recruited at once is a new experience." Sunrise Health Region Prepares to Receive New Nurses
  24. Saskatoon Health Region welcomes Philippine nurses (August 19, 2008) Saskatoon – Saskatoon Health Region welcomes thirteen new internationally-recruited nurses today. The nurses, hired by the Region as part of the provincial recruitment mission to the Philippines earlier this year, arrived in Saskatoon this week to begin a new chapter in their professional career. The recruits are part of the first wave of registered nurses from the Philippines arriving in the Region. The remaining nurses will arrive at different intervals over the next six to seven months. “This is truly an exciting day for us all since many of us in the region have been anxiously waiting to meet and greet our new colleagues arriving from the Philippines,” said Bonnie Blakley, Vice President, People Strategies. “It’s exciting as well for the new nurses who have made many sacrifices and traveled all this way to start a new career and a new life here in Saskatchewan.” Saskatoon Health Region participated in a very successful province-wide recruitment trip to the Philippines in February 2008. Focusing on ethical recruitment practices developed by the region prior to arriving in the Philippines, the region conducted hundreds of interviews and made job offers to 105 registered nurses from the Philippines to begin work in the Region. All of the new recruits went through very rigorous and intense testing prior to the interviews. After a successful interview they were offered positions. “We wanted to ensure that at the end of this process, we had the best possible candidates and I think we accomplished that,” said Blakley. While recruitment of these new nurses helps address the workforce challenges the Region faces, it represents only one piece of a four-part recruitment strategy. The Region continues to recruit local nursing students, the First Nations and Métis workforce and candidates from other Canadian provinces.
