  1. Thank you all for your thoughts ❤️ This really is a difficult time. I decided not to see my parents for a few weeks and possibly indefinitely while I get better at donning/doffing and making sure I'm staying safe. My parents aren't happy with my decision because they don't understand the risks but I'd rather keep them safe. My hospital's PPE situation seems reasonable...reusing gowns, masks etc. but that seems like the norm everywhere. Sending positive thoughts to you all.
  2. Hi all, sorry if this topic has been posted before. I'm a new grad nurse who was hired into the ICU, which was recently converted to a Covid ICU. I am in a state that recently is experiencing another wave of cases. I'm super grateful to have gotten a job but am now concerned about if I should see my elderly parents while working in this unit. Nurses working on Covid units- are you isolating at home from spouses and/or family? Do you see elderly parents or grandparents?? I was considering socially distanced outdoor dinners with my parents, but my mom has hypertension and my dad has CHF/diabetes/htn....aka they are a poster of risk factors. Please let me know your experiences and thoughts!
  3. Nice! I just received my offer too ? Here is a facebook group for any interested: https://www.facebook.com/groups/750120429093607 or you can search for "Loma Linda new grad cohort Summer 2020".
  4. CONGRATS @AkaNewlyRn and all!! For those of you who have received it, do you know the official start date and/or the date we have to be on campus? Just trying to figure out the moving process, I'm relocating from Norcal.
  5. Mine says the same thing. Also waiting for the formal offer! Anyone know if there's a fb group for the new grad Summer 2020 cohort?
  6. hi everyone! I got a verbal offer yesterday and was told HR will be sending out formal offers in the next 1-3 weeks. I also saw from various FB groups that calls are beginning to go out. Thanks everyone for the support and info so far, and best of luck!
  7. Feeling frustrated too. I honestly don't know, it sounds like some departments are bending the rules and sending out verbal offers and some are not. @UknownRN have you been in contact with the manager via e-mail or phone? I e-mailed the manager I interviewed with but no word, I'm debating if I should call.
  8. OMG LOL. How are you guys dealing with this? Are you still applying/interviewing or holding off entirely?
  9. Hi there! Don't give up, there's always hope. I graduated in December 2019 and have been looking aggressively since then with a few interviews but no luck yet. I know the job hunt can be very demoralizing ? For me, I just tell myself that it's not about me and that ultimately I will find the job that's meant for me. Also, we're living through an economic downturn AND a pandemic, so a lack of jobs in general really isn't anyone's fault. It sounds like you're worried about having taken a break before looking for jobs. If anything I've learned from groups like RN Interview Tools on facebook (highly recommend), it's all about how you tell your story. I think if you communicate to recruiters clearly how you had a difficult family situation, and maybe even explained how you made it through/how it has informed your nursing practice, this time off can even be an asset for you. Best of luck to you and hang in there!
  10. nothing ? please update us if anyone hears!!
  11. Thanks for sharing the info! I have not gotten any news from MICU. Has anyone heard from them?
  12. Mine also says sent to hiring manager from March 17th. I spoke to Jesus in HR- not sure who is the point person for the residency program?
  13. Hey guys, just spoke to the recruiter in charge of the Adult residency program and he said that yesterday all departments were told to hold off on extending offers until the week of 5/18 ? Fingers crossed we are still in the running.
  14. Anyone else received a verbal offer so far?
