  1. As long as it’s offered, I don’t see why you would t be able to...I’m not sure if they have spots for the spring, from my understanding it’s very rare for a spot to open up for the spring. I also got into LIU so that’s another thing!
  2. I don’t believe you can with them. I don’t remember seeing them offer nursing classes in the winter and summer unless your doing accelerated (if I’m remembering correctly)
  3. Hi guys sorry for the delay I was working... Rena, I didn’t get in with my GPA in fact I’m still on the waitlist and last I spoke with the guy I’m sort of in limbo (and that was the end of July before I found out about LIU). Let me explain how sjc does their admission to nursing better so maybe you can understand. Like I said I was put on the waitlist even with my gpa how they do it is obviously ranking order but since I didn’t have chemistry, religion and I’m forgetting the last class they wanted (because it wasn’t required at Nassau) I qualified for the sophomore class and not the junior class. The sophomore class only had 6 seats open for the fall, so basically each grade has a certain amount of seats and the people that had better gpa’s got letters and accepted their seats into their program. Hopefully that helps. Yes sjc is the cheaper of the private schools but once you become a nurse you will be making back your money very quickly considering hospitals in the city starting out pay is 100-110k. I’ve only heard good things about sjc program and like you guys I had wanted to go there considering I had felt they took the time to explain everything to me as opposed to other schools I felt like I was pulling teeth but as the same time LIU offered me the opportunity and nobody else did and I want to become a nurse so to me rejecting them to maybe find out I won’t get accepted anywhere else, well to me that’s just a semester I wasted. nephoue in response to how long the program is it ultimately depends on how many classes you got done, in your case you might be considered a freshman since you’ll have to retake anatomy 1 and you didn’t take ap2 or micro so you might have a good chance for getting into the spring
  4. @Nephoue this is something that’s on their website so like I said you should maybe speak to someone referring to the grades part
  5. @Nephoue how sjc does it is they consider both your cummulative gpa along with your science/math gpa weighing a larger portion but like I said what would be the biggest concern is the f in ap1. Not to discourage you but I literally heard back from LIU that I got right before this fall semester started and due to me working at a hospital they are allowing me to take classes online this semester and I’ll take classes there in the spring. I understand your place completely and wanting to get in but from a personal standpoint I had a hard time getting in with a 3.8 gpa, I think you may need to speak to someone considering my situation
  6. @nephoue all my grades were A’s except for AP 1 which I got a B+, AP 2 which I got a B because my lab professor actually played with my grades and I watched him do it and micro I got a B+, I got out on the waiting list and didn’t get in. What did you get for AP2 if you were allowed to take it? Don’t take this personally but if you failed AP1 I don’t think you’ll have much of a shot only because most nursing schools do not accept a C (or maybe it’s a C+) or lower on AP 1 and will automatically not give your application another look...you don’t necessarily have to meet with sjc but it might be best to speak to someone, they have an online transfer evaluation system online but the AP1 would be the ultimate big concern in this case
  7. @nephoue it’s funny you mentioned NYU because I applied to 5 schools and when I didn’t hear back from any until the end of August for LIU Brooklyn, I was contemplating my choices as well and thinking NYU despite the cost. Yes, you ultimately won’t know until the end of the semester which is annoying because I’m sure your just as anxious as I was to know where life was going to take you. When you say visit do you mean NYU or St Joseph’s?
  8. @Nephoue that was just a generic letter they sent you, they don’t know how many seats there are for whatever class you qualify for until the end of each semester because some student appeal grades or drop out and all. From speaking to people in the school, spring admission is extremely rare and what ultimately happens you’ll then still be on the waitlist for the fall if you choose to still be on the waitlist at that point
  9. That’s weird because I’ve been in constant communication with somebody and I knew in early July it was filled up and I also noticed recently on their site that it says that too. I would see if you can try to speak to someone. They are active on Facebook so maybe the person on there can reach out to an advisor for you to get in communication with. I’d say find out why you got rejected and decided after that.
  10. How did you find out you were rejected? Online or by email? Sorry it that’s a stupid question.
  11. Lol god I have soo many questions, I’ll see if we can message each other without clogging this thread
  12. But long story short the guy that I’m speaking to helping me out basically said it’s not worth taking class at liu because it’s soo expensive and because it’s one class I won’t get financial aid or scholarship money
  13. Yes I did get an answer!!! Omg he last week and a half has been such an interesting story. Literally got an email last week to saying I got into nursing program to then say 2 hours later the email was sent in mistake, I literally was calling the school nonstop trying to figure out the deal. I finally found out I didn’t get in and what would increase my chances was to take a chem class. The story gets better, yesterday I get an acceptance letter saying I got into their health sciences program and I did get some money. I would of considered it accept for the part that I only need chem class in order to get into nursing HOWEVER there is no guarantee if I’ll get into the program. So I’m also a little conflicted because liu said any chem class they’ll accept however I do still need to reapply and there is no guarantee I’ll get into program...I’m going to go into school next week to meet with someone hoping maybe to get a contingency acceptance letter or in writing that the class I registered for will transfer over. The issue is the other schools I applied to have chem in their program and the chem the other schools want isn’t this chem course and the chem course that’s widely accepted is filled. I’ll look more closely what you said later because I’m babysitting now!!
  14. And yes all the other pre reqs are done! So the fact that one person said not to worry and the other to say otherwise and told me to try to register into a class (which is also funny because since I have an associates credits somewhere else would be taken away or chemistry might not count) so the fact that communication their is inconsistent is also frustrating. Like you said about retaking chem, it’s like if I don’t have a definite answer I just don’t want to waste money like that especially if something is not going to be transferred which forces me to retake something in the end
  15. Honestly my only class that was “low” was ap2 and that was a B but other than that two B+ and the rest are A’s. My associates was a basic liberal arts because that’s what I was told most nursing students did..I’m going to start composing an email now that way hopefully I’ll receive a response tomorrow although probably not since communication with them even when I call is at least a week turn around time
  16. THats the thing, the person in charge of my application knew that and told me that that’s not a problem, then when I reached out to him about my remaining grades he wanted he said he no longer works for the admissions department and I had to call the school and they told me to send my grades to a different person, they never got back to me until a week and a half later and we were already in June. The new person in charge said it would increase my chances to get in but he didn’t give a definite answer on that (like at least saying yes you’ll get in if you get a B or no sorry, spots are filled etc). Regardless of that, chemistry was already filled up locally so it wasn’t even possible for me.
  17. Sorry for the late reply, when I tried answering this the link didn’t load and then I forgot about it lol...so I’ve spoken to them on the phone and I applied back in February. I guess I can attempt to make a trip other there, the issue is I’m on Long Island so it’s something I need to plan to make
  18. hey, when did you hear you got in for the fall! The person who was in charge of my application no longer works for them anymore and the one thing I did not have was chemistry and he told me not to worry about it especially since I could not transfer anymore credits in...I finally got a hold of another person who is now in charge of my application and he said to try to take chemistry (which is impossible since I can't transfer in anymore credits even though he said otherwise and just credits somewhere else won't transfer in, which ultimately means I would have to repeat something...the other issue on that is they finally got back to me soo late that I am definitely unable to register in a chemistry summer class now)...I guess I am curious on how long it took them to review your application because right now it feels like they are putting me on the back burner.
  19. @louismimi sorry I must of misread!
  20. Not to be rude but how do you know when your starting, they already sent you an acceptance letter?
  21. just seeing this now! i passed, was it my best? absolutely no but a 70, ill take it. if i do not end up in a program in the fall I will obviously restudy in order to get a good grade. it's actually funny, what really killed me was the grammar part and some science questions
  22. Too Bad Nassau played their games because based on all of your grades I had a chance of getting in
  23. Finally taking my teas on Friday after scheduling that test stress, anything I recommend I look over?? I’m pretty much winging it cause of microbio
  24. Hey, honestly I had a different experience with a school problem but what I ended up doing for me is explaining the situation so you might have to as well. The only thing about you that is different is the many withdrawals and just passing grades. The school might see that as there’s a chance that that pattern would continue considering because you said it was personal issues but I also don’t know the the details of the personal issues and im also not the person reviewing your application so honestly I wouldn’t be able to advise you very well. But I do believe you should have a statement somewhere explaining yourself!
