  1. Hi there, a little late to your post.. I am in the BPN program at KPU. It is very different from BSN. It is not med/surg based, it is purely psychiatry. It’s all about the connection between you and the patient, a lot of talking and mental assessment. Rarely will you be doing physical assessments. However, with that being said you learn all about the physical stuff as well as mental because your still a registered nurse just in a psych specialty. I say, think about where you see yourself. If you see yourself working on an ICU floor or emergency floor then BPN is not for you. BPN is working with individuals with addictions, lots substance use patients, suicide, counselling techniques. Every BPN nurse I talk to loves it and would never step foot on a medical floor. In psych nursing you can work in children’s hospital still in the mental health units, you can work in prisons in forensics, and many more opportunities in leadership and educating future students. Hopefully this info helps!
  2. Thank you :)! Good luck with your application!
  3. Did you email them just now? Its passed 6pm, if I emailed do you think they would reply back tonight still?
  4. Do you know if they base GPA off of your overall University credits or just on the 7 required classes for applying?
  5. Self regulation like how do you manage daily stress? Do you go for a run? Do you have extra patience? Do you listen to music? I think they want to make sure we can handle the demands of the program!
  6. hmm I wonder if everyone's questions will be different? I don't mind sharing sorry for late reply I have been working overtime. The questions I got were 100% based off of the PDF they sent us, which explains the required skills and abilities! I think if you review the PDF and make some of your own questions up then answer them that should all prepare you enough for the quiz!
  7. Just finished the questionnaire. The first three questions I felt very prepared to answer, but the fourth question I took the most time on! I finished with 12 minutes left thank god! I am glad that part of the admission process is over because I was worried about what questions they might ask. I hope we find out in less than 2 weeks if we get an offer or not.
  8. Thank you so much for all the advice! Good luck to everyone starting tomorrow, I will most likely tackle the "quiz" over the weekend!
  9. I just asked a friend who is a Nurse, she says their incident reports are just fact based with no opinion added. SO I wonder then, if the nursing admissions are looking for a certain "format" of describing a situation regarding a specific trait/quality and what the result of it was?
  10. Hey everyone! I am shortlisted too, and thought I would jump in on the conversation! I wonder if the questions they ask on the quiz be more situation based like "Describe when" or will it be "what are your strengths and weaknesses"... I always disliked that question.. haha. I am also wondering if we would be considered for the April intake as well if we get waitlisted? All of this is so new to me still, it will be my first time applying!
