So my boyfriend came to me saying he had a pressure pain in his chest. Didn't radiate at all and no SOB. He pointed to around the left 4th intercostal area and said it hurt. I palpated over that area and felt a small lump. I compared it to the right and it was slightly different. I then percussed the left and right chest and it was general tympany up until the area he pointed to. It was clearly dull. I told him he should go to the doctor cause I'm barely in my first quarter of nursing school. I just said I definitely can tel there's something there. Can someone please give me an idea of what it could be? Then I can tell him and maybe it will convince him to go to the doctor. As signs and symptoms go: had a pressure type chest pain medial to 4th rib that increased upon palpation he has chills and is warm to touch. I don't have a thermometer so I couldn't take his temp but he was warm to the touch and shivering. I said he may have a fever and he took Tylenol.

A patient was complaining of restless leg syndrome and asked if I could massage is calves bc they hurt. I'm in nursing school doing clinicals so I don't think anything of it. So I see his legs are really dry and I decided I should put lotion on him. I get the lotion and begin massaging his calves. A minute later he was like excuse me miss, I think it's better if we stop. You're beautiful and I'm a little to excited now if you know what I mean. I apologized and felt so awkward. But I didn't want to make him feel bad.

Okay I couldn't wait another two weeks. I called Dora from the admissions office she said they are still working on them they may start sending them out next week. Just a heads up you need to get aha cpr certified and a first aid cert. I have mine but I need to renew mine so it doesn't expire next yr. she said the first aid can be done online. They are going to send us a link in the box.

Hi Patij, I was wondering have you received your acceptance packet in the mail yet. I called and it's suppose to come in a red box. I haven't received mine yet and I'm scared it got lost in the mail or they forgot to send mine or something.

Hey you girls are probably fine. I called today because I was waiting for an email from the school and the lady that was doing that was out for surgery. So they may have just got postponed on making more calls. It doesn't mean you have not been accepted.

3.5 GPA 75 on teas I don't remember my critical thinking score but I remember scoring higher in that than on my teas. But I also had some work experience built up while doing my prerequisites that helped me a lot being an EMT out in LA and working as a medication technician/ caregiver at an assisted living place in walnut.

Hi!!! I got my phone call today, finally. I was accepted.

You may want to change your field of work. Normally when a patient needs a CNA or a nurse its because they need to be in bed and cannot care for themselves. Especially being a CNA, your job is to clean up bodily fluids that can be sweat, diarrhea, vomit, blood etc. Many of your residents will suffer from edema and breathing issues. They will sometimes smell, have sores, and just not be a very pretty sight. Being a nurse or CNA requires empathy bc it influences your caretaking skills. If you are grossed out and can't handle it you need to get out of this type of job because you are harmful to your patient.

I worked in an assisted living residence for awhile and we had residents like you described. One resident was extremely OCD and shouted everything. If you did anything out of order she would be in hysterics. You will eventually learn their routine and it will become easier. but in the mean time... During that situation you can try to hurry, but in the end always think about quality of care. There is a reason why they are there. It is because their family can no longer care for them and they cannot care for themselves because they are mentally ill. You have to be professional and work on not taking it personal. Next time something like that happens, take a deep breath to calm your nerves. Go to the resident and "say ms, mrs. or mr. so and so, I am here to help you. I understand that you want me to hurry, but I want to make sure your room is clean." sometimes this calms them sometimes it doesn't. But I've learned that by talking to your resident and getting to know them and letting them know you helps a lot. They will still complain, but they will prefer you rather than someone else. Just keep working at it.
