I have been a Nurse for over 30 years. I started out as a pediatric staff nurse then moved into pediatric case management, then to nurse management. After 12 years, I moved to nursing informatics. After doing this for a couple of years I moved to a new state in a small town and tried to find a new niche. There were no pediatric units unless I wanted to travel so I went back to case management then managed a skilled care unit and back to Informaticist. So for many of those years I worked M- F, no weekends/ holidays unless I chose to. Mind you I worked 60 hour weeks so you didn't think I took the easy way. A few years ago I decided to go back to staff nursing on the night shift - Med Surg. Now I am getting burnt out doing the staff nurse routine and feel like I need another change. But what??? I'm 53 and feel like I should settle into my retirement job. How do I take all my experience and find the one job I can keep for the next 15 years? Any suggestions?
