I would assume offers are going out because I received my rejection email on Monday and never even got a call for an interview. Good luck to all of you who receive offers. I have a few friends that started their New Grad program in February & are loving it.

A couple of my friends and I are trying to figure out how they are doing the calls, last name or time of application. My friend who submitted Thursday morning & got a call yesterday, but her last name begins with an F. My other friend & I, who have NOT been called, submitted on Thursday at 4pm & 6pm, with last names beginning with G & W. Any thoughts on this would be helpful, please.

My friends from the fall application cycle said it took about 2-weeks before they got interview emails.

@Lupita1987 Oh I definitely did, plus added letters of recommendation from a faculty member that works there & a former classmate that works there. I left nothing out.

@Lupita1987. Yes, I was there for a single 12-hr shift back in Nov.

I was wondering the same thing. Also, wondered if we got points if our Mayo clinical rotation was cancelled due to COVID.

It will be open tomorrow. They do take ADN, but per the info on their site you must obtain your BSN within 5years.

Hi New Friends, I will be graduating from ASU at end of this Spring semester. Started last January (2020) in the ABSN program & due COVID related events, I transitioned to the traditional program, extending my graduation by one semester. That being said, 3 of my friends from the ABSN program will be starting the Mayo new grad residency on Feb 22. Very excited for them & I dream of joining them in July. Being the impatient career seeker, I called HR Connect yesterday and according to their calendar, the applications for the Summer 2021 new grad residency program should open in March. In the past it has been February, so I would just be on alert. Congrats to all of us for making it to our final semester of nursing school!

The beauty of the PBCNP is that it has a very diverse crowd from new college graduates to people in their 60s. Married, single, parents, non-parents. The situation for each of us was different and that is a big part of what bonded us. Accepting each others situation & being each others biggest cheerleaders. One of my classmates said to me something her aunt had told her and it still resonates now : "The friends you make in nursing school are your friends for life." I have had the unfortunate experience of being in both the post-bacc & traditional program. My post-bacc classmates are still my closest, most supportive, and most amazing people I know. The traditional are great kids & will be amazing nurses, but the rigors and stress of the post-bacc will bond you for life. You can do the program and will be great if you choose to proceed forward.

I am from the 2020 cohort. The schedule varies upon semester. In order of time demand from most to least is Summer, Spring, Fall. It is doable. Some of my classmates were single parents, kids ranged from aged 1 to adults, working single parents (one has 2-boys under school-aged and she worked). Due to COVID, our schedules went from all on-campus to ASUsync (your choice if you want to go to lectures on campus or login via Zoom), with 1-day/week mandatory on campus (lab day). All classes are on weekdays, some sections might have one weekend day for a clinical. I know this seems vague, but the schedule changes for each cohort and with COVID the flexibility for attending class has changed even more.

Anything is possible. Last year, a few people from the 2020 cohort were offered to go to the MEPN instead, so PBCNP slots opened up.

Do everything now. Do not wait. That fingerprinting card takes forever and our cycle had to have it included with the application, along with titers, and everything else. Get it done because you are going to need them for any school you apply to. Acceptances go out between last week of October & mid-November. We were accepted on Oct 21st & this was included in the email: Your advancement is contingent upon the completion of all remaining health and safety requirements, screening items (drug test, background check, health clearance), completing your final courses with a “C” or better, and maintaining the required GPA. You will also need to complete the following items: Due Friday, October 25th: Intent to Enroll Due Wednesday November 13th: Health and Safety Requirements are a critical requirement of participating in clinicals. Late submission of the health and safety requirements after the established deadline may result in the forfeiture of your seat in the Nursing program. Instructions regarding submission of Health and Safety Requirements, and additional screening items, will be sent out on October 28, 2019 via email. Friday, November 15, 2019: Attend mandatory Prelicensure Welcome Meeting. The welcome is a student-focused event that will provide an overview of the program, clinical dress code, uniform and equipment requirements, and necessary textbooks. Space is limited for this event and priority seating will be given to students advancing in Spring 2020. Because this event is mandatory, no RSVP is required.

Everyone is nervous about going to nursing school. There are 92,000 RNs in the state of AZ and we are still in a shortage. If 92,000 other people, in this state alone, can do this, so can you. I won't lie, this is hard. However, you will have 60+ other people going through this with you and they become your support & biggest cheerleaders. I LOVE MY CLASSMATES! They are the most diverse & amazing people and I feel blessed to be on this journey with them. As for your waiver petitions. The board only meets every few weeks. Don't panic on them, as long as you have them in. I had like 8 or 9 in and a couple were last minute and they got approved the final week of the application window after I had submitted my application. The important part is that you get them in. As for the financials, this ASU program is one of the cheaper ones. Creighton is way up in the high $40k's and most of my friends from other schools are paying over $40k for their accelerated programs. One of the best debts you can have is a school loan/financial aid. Most of our classmates are through a combination of FAFSA & private loan through a bank.

Hi jdm525...The total cost is $35k-$38k, depending on your health insurance choice (school or personal). Our lectures have mostly been Tuesday & Thursday from about 730am - 3pm (this is more than one class). Labs & Clinicals are 2 other days and can fall on Monday, Wed, Fri, and/or Saturday. In the Spring my lab was on Friday & clinical on Saturdays (long term care, 3 Saturdays & I was at an honor health facility). During the Summer it WAS SUPPOSED to be Wed Fri & Sat. Due to COVID, we have not had a clinical or been on campus since Spring break. Currently, our clinical are case studies in lieu of. Do know that this is nationwide issue. There are no student nurses in the USA that are having clinical. We are anticipating to have clinical rotations this fall for our critical care and transition to practice (TTP). However, we missed all med-surg (I was scheduled for Mayo), all of pediatrics, all of mental-health, and all of pediatrics clinicals. Yes, we are nervous, but know we are needed and will have job offers because this is a nationwide issue, not just ASU. I have friends in other programs across the nation that have confirmed. Thank you. It has been interesting getting here. Life is interesting for everyone right now. The average advancement score each year changes. It all depends on how many applicants. However, with a 1.93 you will definitely get in. I got in with 1.76552 because I didn't study for the TEAS & only scored an 80 (a couple of my classmates scored a bit lower, but can't remember their exact score). I walked in & just took it because I didn't have time to study due to life events. If it helps, this was the only program I applied to and had others in my sites, but I really wanted this one. Something one of our profs told us the 1st day of class & is so true. Get used to NOT being the best at everything. Most student nurses are used to being overachievers with straight As. Most of the best RNs graduate with a B average, so let go of expecting to have all As, otherwise you will cause yourself a lot of unnecessary anxiety & grief. For books & supplies: Uniform: not sure b/c previous cohort got all their together after graduation & gave us theirs (pssst, we are planning to do the same). If you choose to buy, I think the scrub top was $25 & bottoms depend on the brand you buy. Black scrub pants, any brand w/5 pockets NOT tapered cuff. We use AllPro & they give ASU students a discount. Textbooks: 1st semester is the big one. Get out your checkbook/credit card & prepare to cry. Estimate about $1000 (books & 1st install of ATI Subscription), for Summer it was about $550 (books plus ATI subscription 2nd install), & Fall I am guessing another $500. Note: ASU does a package deal which was the cheapest regardless of how many ways I tried to do a discount. The are electronic. If you want physical texts, I recommend buying them off of one of my cohort for like $100 for all of them. Supplies: $50-100, depending on your needs/wants Free study sites that are epically helpful: registerednursern.com (website & Youtube) picmonic (subscription for full access, I think it is worth it) KeithRN (mostly his blog & Youtube) Podcast anything nursing (Spotify is my BFF) Look up 'Nurse Blake'. He is the best source of nursing humor because it is all TRUE!

My pleasure to chip in. We had students from the previous cohort do the same for us & it is kind of a passing of the torch. In the facebook group we created, there are a couple from the previous cohort in there that have stuck with us and have helped with pointers along the way. With COVID landing on us, it has changed how we are being taught and it has been quite an adjustment, but we are future nurses and our willingness to be flexible helps a lot. Be warned, I am a verbose one, so the maybe longer than I planned. You asked about my "stats". For starters, I am one of the older students (age 42). We have a range of our youngest being 20 and the oldest is in his 60s. We have some fresh out of college with BS degrees, all the way up to folks with PhDs. Our backgrounds are incredibly diverse from all different majors (english to astrophysics to ethical philosophy to zoology) At least 1/3 of us have kids, the youngest kid is aged 1 all the way up to already graduated college. Some people still work, most of us do not. So, I have 2 kids (ages 6 & 9) & married to a USAF veteran (so yes, I can also answer questions about military funding). My BS is in Management Information Systems. For my application, I was one of the lower scores admitted: Select GPA was a 3.86, TEAS 80.7...advancement score was a 1.77. Do note that they allow petitions for A LOT of things. Ask your admissions advisor (Bekah is a ROCKSTAR) about petition options, like if you can't take your TEAS on time b/c of COVID. Or you don't want to take Gen. Chem a 3rd time b/c of time expiration. I filed like 7 different petitions for all kinds of things. File them if you think you have even an inkling you might need it...cover your a$$. For how I like the program. I will be frank. This is, by far, the hardest schooling I have ever done (unanimous agreement from the cohort, incl those with PhDs). However, our faculty is SO SUPPORTIVE! They are tough graders, but you know what to expect and they advocate for your success. I have friends in other accelerated nursing programs in other states & they are so jealous of the support ASU faculty & staff provide. My classmates are AMAZING and there is NO way I would survive this program without them. I LOVE what I am learning and I LOVE the program. This is the best decision I ever made. Lastly, because ASU opened up a MEPN program (way better than UofAs option), our entire application pool was able to be admitted. 63 applied and 63 got in! This also happened for 2017 cohort (2018 was 48/94 applications). Nursing school is a rite of passage! It is a lot of blood sweat and tears (lots of tears), but I would not have it any other way.

Hi ASU PBCNP 2021 hopefuls! I will try to check in here on occasion & will put the word out to my cohort that this group has been started. Last year at this time, I was right where you all are now. You got it, I am in the current ASU PBCNP 2020 cohort. This weekend we are OFFICIALLY 50% through the program. We had so many questions. Many are the same as what I am seeing above. I will do my best to scroll back through them & answer as best I can. In the meantime, keep posting & I will do my best to answer or see if one of my classmates can answer. I live in Tempe (so in Phoenix area). Interested in exchanging numbers & creating group message, but it might be more beneficial to create a Facebook Group (invite only & our phones wouldn't be blowing up). I know past cohorts had one just like this forum & then one for after acceptances that the current cohorts were involved into help the incoming cohort. However, I haven't been able to find any FB groups associated with the 2020 PBCNP cohort.

I am, also, interested. Curious about the schedules & students with kids. Also, where were most of the clinicals.

I didn't check my email until 10:30pm last night. Got my acceptance, too!!! Also, didn't sleep from excitement. Congrats to us all!

Hi All, Historically, they are ALWAYS late on notifying of admissions status. 2-years ago, we didn't find out until Nov 17th. I spoke with an admissions advisor a couple weeks ago regarding applications. My simple question was "How many applicants are there? As in how many people applied for the 2020 cohort of the pbcnp?" The answer is...let's just say VERY encouraging for all of us that applied. (I am not sure if I am at liberty to disclose the full answer). However, take the advice of getting your "titers & stuff done just in case". She answered, honestly, and also let me know that it is highly likely notifications would be delayed. They are being delayed because some of us will have a choice to make. They will be offering SOME of us seats to both the pbcnp & the MEPN (fall 2020 start) and we will have to choose which program. That is what is delaying the notifications, the who they will be offering the choices to.
