FIU ABSN 2019
Hi Andrea, So far, we have had a few ups and downs, but I definitely recommend the program. You will get out what you put into it. It is a FAST program, and if you do not like to be rushed or overloaded with work, it isn't the route to take. If you need to work, it is not the route to take. If you can dedicate a year to nothing but school, go for it. For me, it worked because I learn by immersion. I do nothing but school work, and I'm okay with that because I can have fun when I have a job and money again :). I have heard that they might be changing the program up a bit from some suggestions we made, but I'm not 100%. Let us know if you get in, and I can send you some more specific pointers to share with your cohort - your new family for the year. Our program went like this: Miniterm Fundamentals Class- 9 days during December (before Christmas) Monday - Friday 8 - 5 Spring - Class 2 days a week from 8 - 6:30 and 9 - 7:40; Clinicals 1 day from 7 - 2 Summer - Class 2 days a week from 9 - 3:30 and 11 - 1:30; Clinicals 3 days a week from 6:30 - 3:30 Fall - not sure yet Let me know if you have any other questions!

FIU ABSN 2019
It's not over yet! There are other people trying to make the decision between one school and another. I wouldn't give up hope! Fingers crossed for you!

FIU ABSN 2019
I think I've made my decision to go to FIU. Trying to figure out the best way to let UM know. I PMed you with my e-mail address if you want to communicate directly. I'd love to get to know everyone before we start, maybe through a Facebook group. Have you seen or heard from anyone else who was accepted?

FIU ABSN 2019
Hey! Just got a letter of acceptance from FIU. Have you thought anymore on your decision? I am struggling between the two as well. Everyone is saying the 40k isn't worth it, but that simulation hospital seemed like a great learning environment. Very hard to decide right now

FIU ABSN 2019
I received an e-mail yesterday - interviews are on October 8th. Very excited/nervous and can't wait to meet you all! I did think the email subject line was a bit misleading, and I thought I didn't get in when I read the first few lines.

University of Miami Accelerated BSN spring 2018
I was accepted into the spring 2019 ABSN program and would love some information on it as well. I have a weekend job that allows me to study, I just have to sit at a desk. Will I be able to keep it, or are there clinicals on the weekends? Any information would be extremely helpful.

UM ABSN SPRING 2019
I took mine online through FIU - signed up as a non-degree and it was a good course. Just be prepared for a lot of reading :)

UM ABSN SPRING 2019
I was accepted too! I called yesterday regarding the deposit to be sent and they said the acceptance letters we received were from the university, and SONHS will be sending letters out today. I got a vague answer about the check - did anyone send anything along with the check? I put my cane ID on it, but it feels strange just sending a check without anything attached to it. I am sending it priority with a tracking number. mpeter0124 , i'll be sending you a request for the Facebook page - Cate Kelliher.

UM ABSN SPRING 2019
I applied to both. FIU is a lot cheaper. I am really hoping I get into either one - they are the only two places I applied. If I get into both, I have no idea what I will do. We wont find out about the interview for FIU until September, from what I've been told by their advisers. Even though UM is so much more expensive, the simulation hospital is amazing, and I do feel like the program might be better, but it is hard to tell. I found a thread from last year, and this guy - GramStain ( https://allnurses.com/member-1196149/posts.html ) is very helpful. He was accepted to both FIU and UM and ended up going to FIU. He seems to be very happy there. I'd love to hear your thoughts as well.

FIU ABSN 2019
Now that the applications are submitted, does anyone know if we should expect to receive confirmations or anything from FIU anytime soon? I'm nervous now that the deadline has passed.

UM ABSN SPRING 2019
It does, I couldn't find the admissions section, finally found it! Now I feel better that I at least have a section. I hope I'll be in the next round!

UM ABSN SPRING 2019
I submitted 6/27, was verified 7/3, but haven't seen anything for "admissions" show on my Canelink yet.

UM ABSN SPRING 2019
I finally submitted my application Wednesday, I have been holding off because I am nervous about the required deposit. I've done a lot of research on financing for a second degree, but has anyone settled on what they believe is the best loan option yet?

UM ABSN SPRING 2019
Did you submit the TEAS? I know FIU required it, I am applying there as well. I wasn't sure about submitting it to UM since it isn't required.

FIU Accelerated program Spring 2018
I think the UM Accelerated Option Deadline is August 1, at least that's what nursing CAS says. You can still apply!

FIU Accelerated program Spring 2018
Congratulations! I was considering applying to UM as well, but the price point is really scaring me away. I have looked into scholarships, but do not think I am qualified for the big ones. Were you able to get assistance or scholarships? Thank you for letting us know how its going!

FIU Accelerated Option 2018
Thank you very much for your input, Gram Stain (ps I LOVE your name!). This is great advice, and just the information I was looking for. It is hard to find much information about the program itself beyond the admission requirements. I am so happy to hear you're enjoying it, and wish you the best of luck throughout the program!

FIU Accelerated Option 2018
Hi LaAura! I am getting my application together for the FIU AO '19 cohort, and was wondering if you ended up going. I am trying to get my financials in order, and am curious if it looks like a weekend job is possible while in the program. I took the TEAS VI in Dec. and got a 92.7 and have a 4.0 in my pre-req GPA. I lack volunteer hours, though, and am trying to get those together. Any insight you have would be greatly appreciated as I debate generic vs. accelerated. I hope you're doing well!

FIU Accelerated program Spring 2018
Congratulations to everyone who got in! I am finishing up pre-requisite requirements, and getting my application ready. Just trying to figure out the financials of going back to school full time. Have you guys gotten a read on if work on the weekends is possible? I have an opportunity to get a job at a local hospital from 7A to 7P Saturday and Sunday. Happy for all of you, and hope you're doing well!

FIU Accelerated program Spring 2018
I'm trying to apply for the 2019 session, and went to one of the information sessions. They did say they let in 30 and were expecting 150 for this year, which really scared me! That is super selective. I was trying to find another AO program to look into as a fall back, but can't find anything as competitive price wise, and the competition starts at different times. Can't wait to see how this turns out for you! Good luck!!! Let us know how it goes!
